We were tired and ready to kick back for the night, so we decided on Hotel le Soleil. I am so happy we did. From the moment we walked in the young lady at the counter was so kind and welcoming. The room wasn't quite ready so we paid and then went out to get food, she even called us to let us know it was ready when it was done. The room we had was a little small for a suite, BUT, not at all disappointing. In fact the room had class and charm, that made me really happy we chose this hotel. When we needed an extra blanket and some extra towels they were at our door within 5 minutes of calling down.. we really loved the view from our room and checking out was just as easy. The only down side was there was some kind of loud fan sounding in the hallway inside the suite. I don't mind noises like that, but It might be bothersome to some people. It wasn't enough of a bother to stop me giving this amazing hotel 5 stars. If I am ever back in Vancouver this is where I will be staying. read more

It was a disappointing experience. We checked in about 6 pm. The hotel wants you to use an application to check in and it becomes your room key. It is not very handy. I stopped by the front desk to see if we were all set and the clerk was rather dismissive saying "just use you phone for your door" I had to specifically ask about breakfast and she seemed put out that she had to find a little folder with our breakfast vouchers. Upon entering our corner room suit, we discovered our view was of two commercial buildings about a dozen feet away. No view or privacy whatsoever. After emptying one of our suitcases, we sat down for a short rest. I soon noticed a couple of very small ants crawling on me. I thought it was strange to have ants upon the eighth floor, but didn't see any others so I didn't pay too much attention. We went out and had dinner, and when we returned, we found several ants running around on the bathroom floor. We disposed of these ants and then my wife went to take a shower and there were several ants in the shower/tub. We went to bed and had a fitful night because of a very loud air conditioner. It sounded much like a propeller plane taking off but with a higher pitch. The A/C would run for 3 minutes, turn off for 3-5 minutes and start up again. I tried turning the thermostat off, but it didn't make any difference. From the condition of the ceiling tiles in the hallway, the A/C unit appears to be continual problem. The next morning, we awakened to a sink full of larger ants. We washed them down with hot water. We also found a couple of the small ant in the living room area. As we were getting dressed, I received a message on the hotel app asking how our stay was going and it included a form to fill out if I had any complaints. I filled it out the form complaining about the ants and the extremely loud air conditioner. The app asked for our phone number and said someone would call us shortly, so we went and had breakfast. The breakfast was in a restaurant attached to the hotel and was absolutely wonderful. After breakfast we went out to hit the town. We did not arrive back at the hotel until late, yet I had still not received any call or contact from the hotel. We went to bed and at approximately 1:00 AM. I went into the bathroom only to discover the sink full of ants. These were larger ants than what we had seen earlier. I washed these ants down the sink and then started looking around for other ants. I found about a dozen on the bathroom floor, several on the TV stand, a half dozen on the carpet in the front room and two on the couch, I did not want to turn on the light in the bedroom and wake my wife, so I did not check for ants in the bedroom. Of course, I felt like they were crawling on me when I climbed into bed. It was too late to go through the hassle of changing rooms. When we checked out, I advised the clerk of the ant problem and the noisy air conditioner that did not allow much sleep. No apologies, just "I'll tell the housekeeping supervisor". When we got on the ship we discovered that the ants had gotten into our luggage and were among our clothes. It cost us $105 to have our clothes cleaned. The manager later contacted us and said their staff could not find the infestation. I sent them a picture of the ants so they know what to look for. read more

Breakfast is good and staff are very friendly and attentive. Breakfast wins over the hotel's weaknesses - rooms are very aged and need to be renovated soon. Fans are super noisy and water pressure is very weak. The shower head wasn't having enough water pressure because the water was also coming out of the faucet at the same time. Didn't matter how much I tried to fix it. The knob didn't stay pressed on. Front desk staff can get more training and be more helpful. Bell desk staff are very nice and helpful. read more

Parking is valet and $35 but there is a public lot next door for $17 (we did valet) Good central location (easy walk to Stanley Park Gasstown etc). The service was fantastic. Visited Vancouver for 3 days and had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel. Our room was very comfortable and clean. They gave 2 free water bottles each day which was nice. The staff were all so nice. Front desk gave us some paper for my son to draw. The concierge, Jordan was sooo helpful each day with great tips on restaurants, activities and public transportation. Valet guys were so friendly whenever we entered/exited the hotel. We brought a car but didn't want to drive much. Jordan gave us great tips on best ways to get around on public transportation. There were fantastic restaurants on Robson St., about 15 mins walk. If you like shopping, there was a big mall very close by. We loved the restaurant next door which is connected to the lobby. Breakfast was fantastic with 10% off for hotel guests. We will definitely return! Loved staying there! read more

My usual hotel in Downtown Vancouver was booked since I was booking last minute so luckily my Yelp did not fail me and I found this place. The reviews seemed almost too good to be true. Wished I studied up a little better as I arrived very late on a Sunday night and didn't realize that the hotel has a valet for parking. This hotel is also centrally located so that once parked you can walk to the shops, cafes and even Gastown albeit it is still a bit cold here in mid-April. The reception upon check in is lovely and quick. The entire hotel I found to be immaculate which is fantastic and welcoming. Upon entering your room is a living room area a hallway with a nice sized bathroom and a bedroom to the back. First time away from home that I slept through the night,the bed and bedding were very comfortable. Nice touch that they turn down your bed at night and have chocolates on your pillow. This was actually a decent sized chocolate and high quality as well that I found myself eating them every night. Also you have complimentary bottled water which is great as my time was very limited to be looking to get it outside the hotel to bring back to the room. The toiletries were Aveda brand and again they were generous in the fact that I had enough supplies to wash my hair every day. This hotel is truly a hidden gem. The only negative is their restaurant affiliation since I came in very late the first night I ordered room service which actually comes from the Indian restaurant next door. It has to be the worst Indian food I have ever eaten as well as it dumbfounded me in the City with the best restaurants in the world at the best hotel and to be serving poor quality food makes zero sense. This was confirmed to me by several locals that I do business with that are also Indian. Oh well I guess not everything is perfect in Vancouver. read more

First time staying at the hotel we booked a king bedroom suite for a new year trip and pre-paid for 2-days of valet parking. Note only parking option at the hotel is valet and it is $48/day with in and out privileges. However if you book online via the website, there is a discount for the parking and we paid I think $32/day. The valet service went smoothly without a hiccup. Walked into the foyer of the hotel and it felt very regal (think Louis the 14th French regal). When we checked in, they had no records of me pre-paying the valet, but assured me they will sort it out later. They handed me 2-vouchers per day for continental breakfast and we went up to the room. Walking into the room, it was pretty spacious and comfortable and clean. We were greeted with two bottles of Fiji water (complementary). I went to the restroom to wash my hands (yeah for Aveda products) and noticed only one set of everything and realized they had me down for 1-guest when on their website, i entered (2ea) adults and (2ea) children (hence two continental passes per day). Went back down to order more towels and toiletries it was quickly remedied (i also showed them my online reservation noting the valet was pre-paid as well). Tried to go back to my room to find out my card key was not working. Only one of my two card keys worked so I rode with the other guest all the way to the top to ride all the way back to get it fixed. They were very apologetic about it and stuff happens. House keeping was great. On our way out for the day, we ran into the house keeper and she was super friendly and asked if we needed or wanted anything. She chatted with the kids as well asking how was their stay. The kids noted they wanted the turn down service which includes a chocolate on the pillow (really all they wanted was the chocolate). When we came back the bed was made and the kids definitely got their chocolate which of course made their day living it up in a fancy hotel...which of course makes us happy. Cleanliness, great house keeping, friendly service, good valet and location/proximity to everything makes this a win. read more

We previously stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and finally, finally got to go back this month. It was beautiful and classy as ever! We booked a suite and were very comfortable. Some things had changed since our previous visit, like the restaurant downstairs is now a French restaurant. We had a delicious and beautiful breakfast there. Service is friendly and professional, room is clean and comfortable and the location can't be beat. The hotel is right downtown on Hornby Street, close to the Sky Train station and the Pacific Center shopping mall. Easy walking distance to GasTown and the Waterfront too (which were also awesome)! Booked this hotel through Expedia and it looked good from my screen but I was still a little skeptical if this place was a gem or dump, but couldnt turn down the price for a last minute weekend trip. So glad this place turned out wonderful!!! The hotel was a little hard for me to find at first but after driving the block 4 times, I found it. Nice entrance area/lobby, staff was very friendly with the greetings and immediately helpful with valet, check-in process and info about the hotel & city. The corner room was very nice, pretty good views, Frenchy-boutique like, comfy feeling, good sized, adjustable temp controls in living room and bedroom and no issues with wi-fi neither. I like the hotel location, it's a street or 2 away from all the retail madness so its quiet at night. Very walkable to pretty much everything. The hotel has a Indian restaurant connected but we didn't try it out but it looked pretty popular. Overall, the stay was great and would stay here again especially with location and the staff. read more

If I could give this place more stars, I would. We had our company Holiday party here and I am so happy with our experience. We had approximately 40 to 50 people and the room size was perfect. People were able to sit and mingle with just enough room. We also were able to play games and music in the space. The service is beyond amazing. Ever single staff member was so pleasant and accommodating. No one was left wanting or needing anything. The servers passing around appetizers were smiling and patient, the bar staff remembered peoples drink order. I personally met with the chef (being GF and vegan) and he made me my own customized meal. He was so incredible and I felt so cared for. This place is top notch. The decor is classic and trendy. And the place is dog friendly (I love this and so did our party which got a special visitor at our party). Thank you to everyone! read more

A super comfy bed (if ya know what I'm sayin') and views of the city that were awesome. To prove how cool this hotel was, I was blessed with a fantastic case of food poisoning and forced to spend more time in the room than i wanted to, but I still loved my time here. My boyfriend brought me to Vancouver for my birthday. He had purchased a Living Social deal for Hotel Le Soleil. The location of the hotel is great - no need for cabs or driving! We pretty much walked everywhere... even in the rain. We pulled up and the valet guy, Zack greeted us. His service was exceptional. Seriously... very attentive and polite! This set the tone for our stay. Check in was simple and the gentleman at the front desk was very personable. Our room was clean and big. There were two flat screen TV's. We brought our dogs on our trip and all they charged was a $50 something fee... they even had someone put a dog bowl and blanket in our room which was a nice little touch. The only downfall is that we have to pay for wi-fi. However, there is a Starbucks right across the street so you can just walk there and use theirs. They gave us vouchers for the restaurant (Copper Chimney) which is kind of pricey but WELL WORTH IT. That restaurant rocks (you can see my review on this too). I will definitely come back to this hotel. Great value, location, service, and rooms. read more

This hotel seemed to have solid reviews, and I was happy to find a reasonable price online (by my American standards for moderately priced hotels) so I stayed comfortably at Hotel Le Soleil for four nights. Pros: it was very clean; even for a single there was a separate living room with a second widescreen TV and a couch; a powerful hair dryer, nice bathroom; and I swear all the mirrors are those fitting room ones (slightly warped) that make you slightly vertically stretched so you appear thinner. No complaints about that! The staff was professional and unobtrusive. The SkyTrain stop is just one block away, so it's very convenient if you arrive in Vancouver by bus or train as I did. You're already downtown and within walking distance of a lot so you may not need a car. The most comfortable hotel bed I've experienced in years. Cons: the wireless internet situation is awkward - it seems like you could access it on the TVs (with a keyboard/remote already in your room) but apparently this system is defunct, so they ask you to pay about $9 to get a 24-hour access code for their wi-fi (for your own phone or laptop), but the signal only worked in public hallways and fleetingly in my room. When I told the front desk that this was sort of useless, they told me they have a "business center" (one room with two computers, printers, fax) for any guest to use free. It's nice that they have that option, though it could be unavailable while other guests use it... and they still charged me for the access code the first day instead of just telling me up front that I could use that room. And I must mention that the bed was ridiculously comfortable - we both slept extremely well, which was great since I had to get up early for a half marathon. It was nice of them to remember my name, and Marvin could get our kids to smile every time. The room was clean, with nice Aveda products, and they provided two cribs as requested. It was nice to have a suite as the kids could have their own space and TV separate from ours. The location was convenient, two blocks from either of the major train lines, and a few block from Robson street which is where we spent most of our time. I booked this hotel last minute on Expedia when our Airbnb fell through. It was an outstanding experience from the minute we arrived. Everyone working at the hotel was incredibly kind and helpful - special shout out to Craig who basically planned our too short 48 hour stay for us. It's an outstanding location - can easily walk to Robson Street, Canada Place and even the Aquabus to Granville Island. The rooms are very well appointed and the beds were too comfortable. There are Aveda products in the bathroom. We had breakfast at the Copper Cafe one morning and it was reasonably priced and decent. We valet parked our car for $37 CAD - has in and out privileges. Friendly staff but the parking garage system is the worst i've seen. It was not explained properly when we checked in so i had to figure out how it worked bit by bit every time i faced an issue getting in. So basically they don't give you a fob to open the parking garage door and there is no camera for them to see your car at the garage entrance so you actually have to walk out of your car, walk inside the lobby and get someone to come with you to the garage door, so they can open it with their fob. Does it sound like a lot of work just to get inside the garage..... my answer is yes, for both guests and staff. On top of that the elevator to the parking garage is activated manually by someone in the lobby so if theres no one at the front desk you can't even get to your own car. It almost makes me feel bad bothering someone every time if i have to drive somewhere often! Also the website mentions Aveda products in the rooms but that's not what you get either. The heat vent is very very loud in the rooms.... The hotel definitely needs some updates and more staff. Unless youre used to these inconveniences and a loud fan, I'd suggest shopping around some more. Other than these problems, the rooms are clean and the location is superb. read more

My honest review of this hotel is that it is a small beautiful building. But there is nothing exceptional about this hotel. The staff were polite but we're not happy with our request to change rooms. being a light sleeper and to be placed at a high traffic area in front of the elevator wasn't something we were super happy about. But we did say we would stay in our room if nothing was available. However You could tell they seemed a bit irritated by the request. The rooms were clean and decorated beautifully. The elevators unfortunately took forever. Parking was underground but you don't have the freedom to leave and then enter the parade without waiting for someone to let you back in. We ordered room service for breakfast from the restaurant. Whoever took our order over the phone didn't put our order in so after waiting 40 mins I had to call and put in a new order. The food was ok, again nothing Exceptional. Eggs were over cooked. Understandable due to Covid room service is not the same. But who wants to receive their breakfast in a to go box. Not even a proper container. I would not stay at this hotel again in the future just due to my preferences. Again this hotel is ok but nothing to me felt like I wanted to come back here again. read more

We used our Living Social voucher last weekend. On a surface level, the staff is friendly. They upgraded us to a corner suite (which is slightly bigger and quieter). However, the room had one window which opened to an air shaft (e.g. the middle of the building and no light). The other window open to a notch in the building that was roughly 20 feet deep (in other words, no external light from here, either). The Living Social special came with a $25 voucher for "food and beverage." Once we arrived at the hotel we received the voucher, complete with all the fine print. The voucher was for dinner only and was not to be used on alcohol. We didn't see the fine print until we went to use the voucher for breakfast. I had to leave the restaurant to go to the front desk to get the issue cleared up, as it was a bait and switch situation. This took about 15 minutes, as the front desk clerk had to call his sales manager. Finally, I was told I could use the voucher for breakfast. Thank you, but it was a stress that should not have occurred if this information had actually been included in the Living Social offer. Free internet was included with the package. I guess that's good, as I've NEVER stayed at a hotel that actually charged for internet access. Many times the internet speed was so slow that it dropped. At one point I clocked the speed at well under 1 Mbps. That's fine for free, but I would have been quite disappointed if I was forced to pay for service that slow. Finally, we get to the valet parking and this is why I've giving such a low overall rating. As our car was brought out the second morning of our stay as we were preparing to leave, we found a three inch long scratch on the mirror and a chip in the door. Seriously? This car is my husband's pride and joy. He hand washes it every week and knows every inch of that car. When he dropped it off for the valet, he walked around it to check it out and when he picked it up from the valet, he walked around it and checked it out. At some point from the time we dropped it off at the valet and picked it up, it was damaged. After speaking with the front desk clerk and the valet attendant at length and showing them the damage, we were giving the hotel manager's business card. After multiple emails back and forth with the hotel over the past two weeks, we were told they "considered the issue closed." They told us the area they park the cars in is fully secure and they stated the car must have been "vandalized." Hmmmm.... If the parking garage is fully secure and the car is vandalized during that time, then the damage was done by an employee. I don't believe it was vandalized, but I do know that one of the valets was very careless to cause this damage. The $300-500 it will cost us to repair the damage Hotel Le Soleil caused (along with the stress of dealing with their bait and switch tactics) was definitely NOT worth what we saved with our Living Social deal. read more

A beautiful boutique hotel, small with warm and friendly staff. We didn't stay for long but I was quite impressed by the rooms and the floor we were on. Ornately decorated in the Soleil theme, the room was very large. We were on the 12th floor, with a suite-like room - probably a deluxe room which came with a sitting/living area, 2 large LCD tvs, a large king sized bed and a Valentine's treat - chocolate fondue, with Inniskillin ice wine & other Valentine's goodies and free valet service! Toiletries were supplied by Aveda and the shower was large with 2 shower heads which I liked! I wish they had toothbrushes though cos I forgot to bring mine. It was a divine Valentine's surprise at a very pretty hotel for a relatively good price :D read more

I forgot to review this from my last trip to Van-city... This is honestly one of my most favoritestestest hotels in the world! You may never know it's there. The entrance is very discreet. But, after you stroll through, it opens up to golds and reds. Obviously, very French inspired and warm. The people who work here are always very kind and helpful. The rooms are great with a small living room that flows into the bedroom. I have only been in the rooms with showers (no tubs). However, the bathrooms, like the rest of the digs, is French style. I love the Aveda products too. I would recommend this hotel to my closest of friends. Really a great location and exceptional value. read more

Shocked. That was the look on my face when I entered room 808 of Hotel Le Soleil. I was looking for upscale and I got mediocre, outdated so called "boutique" hotel style. I trusted the Yelp reviews on this one, and I don't know if I just ended up getting a dud of a room, but this was nothing like I expected. Walking in the front door, everything looks exquisite, from the staff, to the fireplace, to the interior. What deception! Our room was noisy, from the screaming of the light fixtures to the air conditioner that sounded as though it was possessed by demons. There were two strangely large balconies. Seemed odd to me. Maybe some sort of maintenance location hub for the hotel? Room service menu was nowhere to be found. Until we were ready to check out of course. Who ends room service at 10:00 pm? What is the point of late night snacks after going out if they end at 10? Did I mention the bipolar elevators? Such a disappointment, considering I did my research on hotels in Vancouver. read more

I have stayed at Hotel Le Soleil on business around 6 times now, with stays ranging up to 10 days. My family and I have also stayed here on pleasure, and we consider Le Soleil our "home away from home". This hotel is fantastic in just about every way. The location is within walking distance of just about everything downtown. I generally stay in a suite, and the rooms are very tastefully decorated, of moderate size, and very comfortable for longer stays. Each room is a little different as well, owing to the age of the building. The staff here, however, really make the place. I see the same faces every time I come, they recognize me as well, and I have never once had an experience that was anything but positive with them. I genuinely *like* interacting with the staff here. They care, which is something lacking in a lot of places. Kudos, Le Soleil. I'm here now, and I'm sure I'll be back again. FABULOUS hotel. Check out their website to see all the details. The 42" tv's in each of the rooms were nice. The place was plush. The Aveda products were wonderful. You will be SO happy you stayed here that you will come back. The price was more reasonable when I stayed, however, I see that they are on the high side. I don't think in Vancouver that you will find many value priced hotels especially those that are worth staying at. The hotel is near just about everything in the downtown area just walking two short blocks one way or the other (and I'm not much of a walker!) Try to book online as it may save you more money. I stayed Oct 8, 2009 and it was $118CAD a night+txs. I noticed other dates to be very pricey... If you are not from Canada I would suggest that you pay for a hotel in advance rather than using your credit card as you will be charged conversion fees and service fees every time you use your cc in CAN. We stayed here one night in a King room. We arrived about an hour before the official check-in time, so we hung out in the cozy lobby. We didn't get a room until 5pm, which was a bit disappointing, since we waited past the check-in time, and it wasn't until I asked about the status of our room, that it was magically ready. The room layout made the room feel smaller that it was, with a sitting room at the entrance the bathroom in the middle, and the bedroom, with the bed taking up the entire room. Even though it felt small, it was big enough for the two of us. It would probably be good if you had kids. Bonus points for a super comfortable bed. One odd thing was that the air conditioner was super loud, and came on every five minutes since it was pretty stuffy in the hotel. I guess they take the Le Soleil literally. Overall, this place is a great value in a great location. Plus, they have valet parking, which is a must, and it is actually MUCH cheaper than most hotels in the area ($29). There aren't a ton of restaurants within a block, BUT if you walk about four blocks, there's a mall and tons of places to eat. read more

The accomodations were fine, but not great. The hotel was in the middle of downtown, and nice proximity to Gastown and Pacific square. The room was nice, nothing to write home about, but was comfortable and spacious. The staff were very pleasant and helpfull What brings down the quality of our stay was the Internet and cable TV. The internet was worse than Dial-up speed....soooooo slow. As for the TV's it was funny, they had new LG televisions, but the cable was analog and very grainy, not what I espected, and a let down. We stayed in one night too watch a movie after an exhaustive day, and after paying $16 for a rental (which was a little higher than we expected) we thought we would have a good quality movie, but were dissapointed. Overall though, it was a good stay, but I think with the help of Living Social/travel sites, we can find a better hotel out there. read more

One of my favourite hotels if I am ever staying overnight on a weekend or something. Can't drive after a late night downtown and don't want to take a taxi? With that someone special and want to just have a night away from domesticity? It's pricey, but you get what you pay for. A romantic night away from stress and a great night of blissfull bliss. High-end boutique in a primarily business district area, so it's nice and safe but away from the action, esp. at night. Great for the tourist/business traveller, and our major DT Pacific Centre mall/Holt Renfrew should keep you busy shopping for goodies. Did find the rooms not as spacious, even with the suite, the sofa is barely big enough for 2 adults. No doubt expensive furnishings, and lots of yellow/gold look all around. read more

I probably would have liked this hotel better if I hadn't just stayed at the Fairmont. It's sort of like going from a Bentley to a Toyota... still nice, but incomparable none the less. The staff were definitely more warm and friendly, but it was just alright in terms of comfort, space, and amenities. They ran about an hour and a half past check-in time, which was frustrating since we happen to have gotten there right when "check in" was supposed to start. The room itself was small but clean... and the bed was comfortable, which is saying something considering I'm kinda picky about that. However, it was really stuffy and the air conditioner sounded like an industrial air blower (very loud). I ended up having to sleep with the TV on to drown out the sound. There aren't a ton of restaurants surrounding the hotel, but if you're okay with walking about four or five blocks, you'll hit a ton of places. Overall, this place is decent in terms of value and location. Plus, their valet parking is much cheaper than most hotels in the area ($29). Quick suggestion: skip the restaurant attached to the hotel. It looks really nice, but the food is mediocre for the price. read more
