The staff was not as attentive and/ or accommodating to my requests/ from not taking the time to look for a toilet riser to begin with/ not responding in a timely manner when I pressed the button for help specially being a post-op patient and having limited mobility/ needing assistance to and from the bed / bathroom There were only 3 staff members that did tend to my care/ needs for the days that I was a patient there. After a very unpleasant incident. My surgeon's office/ team got involved and were able to find another recovery facility and move me for the remainder of my recovery period/ stay. Thank God for my awesome surgeon's office/ team that this was able to happen.

I contacted Claudia, The Doll House recovery center coordinator and booking with her was super fast and easy with no confusion at all. I booked Doll House for a pre op stay which was much cheaper than staying in those fancy hotels for one night that the doctors always recommend but here they provided me with dinner and even woke me up early for my appointment the day of my surgery. Following the days after my surgery, I felt the most vulnerable, weakest, and painful experience ever but being here with these wonderful ladies who after felt like all my mamas who bathed me, fed me, clothed me, cleaned my wounds, and even wiped my a$$ supported me mentally and emotionally and allowed me to get back on my own two feet. I'll forever thank them for having taken care of me when I felt I was at my weakest point in recovering. I shared rooms with my roomie (roxi) and made friends with the other girls as we made our walks around the hallways (kathy/flor) and even enjoyed a little cheat lunch on our last day here together in the common room. Oh and I can't forget the most amazing and sweetest massage lady here at Doll House (Mari) I felt like not only did she help me recover with the massages but was so sweet and attentive and heard my never ending life stories every time it was my turn to get a massage from her :) Definitely recommend this place if your coming alone like I did. He insisted it was gastritis and due to bad fish. Long story short, we went to San Diego/UCSD ER for appropriate tests. It was a small bowel obstruction. Immediate surgery removed 13" of dead intestine, and it probably saved my husband's life. Thankful for those American doctors who made sure they knew the cause of the pain.

Outside my window is the constant hooting & hollering of grown men. I'm not sure if it's a soccer field or a bar but it went on until 1:30am. The infirmary light is left on all night so bring eye patches. No guest are allowed after 8pm. The tv remote sucks & may just need batteries. It feels dirty too. Breakfast came with oatmeal, wheat toast & fresh fruit. My bandages were changed & was able to leave the next morning after my IV & urine bag was removed

First, the communication was superior compared to the other two. All my questions were answered by the same or next day via email. I was always able to connect by phone when I needed to talk to someone. Second, I was able to communicate with the doctors by phone when I needed clarity for my questions. The other two clinics would not let me talk to any doctor even when I told them I needed some answers before paying the expenses for lodging, transportation, food etc. The doctors at ProgenCell were completely transparent with their advise even if it meant that possible stem cell treatment would not work for one of my knees and knee replacement would be the better choice. Third, the staff was totally punctual on all levels. Scheduled phone calls, treatments, transportation for pick up and delivery were right on schedule. Forth, the staff and doctors were kind, patient, thorough, professional and fun to be with. Fifth, the staff even set up the appointments and transportation for x-ray and lodging for me. Really, they were so efficient, all I had to do was show up. When I got serious about weight loss surgery after suffering the up and down weight gain and loss from PCOS I researched a lot of places on different countries. I could have done the surgery under my insurance but I wanted it done right away. This hospital was on the top of my list. They have many coordinators and liaisons to help you through your whole process. Karla is awesome!! She takes care of every practical detail and makes sure everything is fulfilled to your standard. To qualify for the surgery you will need to go to their website and put in your info with height and weight. You get accepted right away if you qualify then you are contacted by a representative of the hospital. They do require a list of meds, previous surgeries, allergies, and medical history. There are certain conditions to prevent you from having the surgery and they won't risk your life for money. An internist sees you before surgery to review meds and blood work. He will also instruct you when to retake meds or stop taking certain meds altogether. Before surgery they obtain blood labs, Covid test, lung CT, and EKG. You get all your records, imaging, and prescribed post surgical meds upon discharge. I had the gastric sleeve which lasts 45 minutes. You are placed under anesthesia and they remove 80% of your stomach through laparoscopy. I have 4 scars on my stomach that will heal nicely. They do put a drain in you to remove any excess blood so your body doesn't have to go about absorbing it all. The most painful part of the surgery was the drain. It hurt with movement and deep breathing. I did well with my incentive spirometer but it was hard with that drain. Other patients complained about it too but we all realized it was very necessary! When it came out I felt 1000 times better. They do encourage you to drink fluids slowly after surgery and provide bottled water, Gatorade, and juice as well as ice chips. They had normal saline running the whole time and also hung antibiotics, pain medicine, steroids for inflammation, and meds to prevent nausea and reflux. Okay, so this place is as modern as it's going to get. As a nurse there were a lot of things I would do different but I was a good patient ;) The stretcher I was on had blood splatter (I hope) from another patient and one nurse gave me a breathing treatment with a mask that had been on the floor. I did my own cleaning in my room. I am so happy to have had this procedure here. They do a leak test the next day to make sure you're stitched up tight, by the way.

I ended up having to follow up with a local surgeon after complications arose. Turns out, my surgery was botched. So far, I have found out that my stomach is twice as big as it should be after a gastric bypass, I have an intussusception (something that typically only occurs years after a bypass) and I have a slipping hiatial hernia. I am very likely going to need surgery to repair everything. These aren't just normal post op complications. I did all the research I could ahead of time but nothing can prepare you for a surgery that was done incorrectly. I wish I would have taken out loans and did whatever it took to have my surgery done locally.
