I have been a customer for a few years using Excel several times. Each time they were prompt in showing for the appointment. However, when it comes to fixing things, they seem to only want to fix the easy and fast money makers. I have Kohler fixtures which seem to be a bit more complicated and Excel doesn't seem to have any parts for them. So, they tell me, they will order the parts and get back to me. One months later, I call them because I didn't hear from them. The receptionist tells me she is going to ask the plumber who worked on our home and get back to me. Another month goes by, I call again. The receptionist, Natalya, tells me that she heard them talking about ordering the Kohler parts, so, she knows they've been working on it ( she must think I'm a moron). But, she will find out and call me back at the end of the day. Good thing I wasn't holding my breath! I actually told her that if they couldn't do the job, let me know and I will find someone else. She reassured me that that was not the case. One would think that this was an oversight or bad organization but this has now happened for two different situations. I will have to now say that this is the way Excel does business. I'll be looking for another plumber. I didn't think Kohler products were so unusual that a plumbing company couldn't handle fixing it. Follow up: Yes, it is true, they have contacted me numerous times after they sent a guy out to give me a ridiculously high quote. After that, I found another plumber to do the job. He wasn't afraid of the Kohler products and didn't make a big stink out of fixing it. Plus, his price was reasonable. As I recall, I spoke to you about having found another plumber, but you kept calling and I already moved on. Too bad you weren't as persistent in the beginning. read more

Had a cleanout installed and sewer line repaired. Also, had a gas leak in the fireplace fixed. I was very pleased with Excel from beginning to end. They did a professional job on all my work, and they were very pleasant to deal with. We did have a problem which they took full responsibility for and followed through to completion. They advertised 60 minute service. I called that number, and got an answering service who said they'd forward the message right away. It's nearly 3 hours and I've heard nothing. I had our clean-out in the front yard rodded because we had backup in the basement. The plumber told us that the pipe was sheared at the foundation. He also said that they'd have to dig up the yard a bit to get to the pipe, and that the pipe might be under our front stairs/stoop leading up to the door. He wanted us to sign a waiver in case they ruined the stoop. I wanted a second opinion, someone with a camera as our plumber was old school and didn't use one. I ended up going with Excel Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, they came in at the most reasonable price-wise. They sent Ronnie out this morning with the camera and detector. Ronnie was professional and very helpful. He sent the video he took to my i-phone and explained everything to me while he was doing it as I watched the vid. It turns out we don't have a sheared pipe, we don't need our yard dug up, and at worst we just need a jetting / power blast (there is a lot of build-up). Great news. Thanks! read more

Had more issues with my kitchen sink and toilet. George, the plumber was great. He replaced the toilet, and had to struggle to make it level as our floor was not. Parts for my sink were needed, got a little messed up with the ordering so it took longer, but they made it right. They re-rodded my sink, replaced the part and all I had to pay for was the part. Not the labor again. Very fair and commendable by the people in charge in the office. Would recommend George especially. Knew his stuff well!!! read more

Last Year I had an RPZ installed in my home for sprinkler system and it broke because I forgot to properly winterize it. I called them and explained the situation and wanted to get a quote for new RPZ, but instead of installing a brand new unit, Excel guys sent a repair guy who was able to repair it with needed parts for 1/4th the cost of new unit. I had to have quite a bit of work done - all the piping under the kitchen sink rebuilt, new kitchen faucet, rod out the kitchen drain line, replace the innards of two toilets. Excel sent Luigi who came at a time that was convenient for me. He told me what needed to be done - no hard sell. He gave me several options and explained everything fully. He came back the next day as agreed and completed all the work as agreed. He cleaned up after himself and left everything in A+ shape. He is very professional - I was very pleased. excellent service..called excel they cameout the same day kitchen faucet needed replacement luckily Alex had three in his truck one was ecactly like mine Alex is super replaced it in just minutes..when he Arrived I thought he's so young( and l'm so old) but this guy really knows his stuff.. I am so pleased with everything he did and his knowledge and efficiency..He ended ;up putting in a new toilet tightrning a pedestal sink to the wall as it was loose and could have been a disaster if it fell now I don't have to worry anymore... also put on two check valves on my sump pumps called for just thekitchen faucet and ened up having several things fixed. Like hundreds of others, I had some frozen pipes in this record cold -- in my upstairs laundry! Fearing a burst pipe, I called Excel (I am a repeat customer) and Tom answered promptly and professionally. While they were slammed with calls, a few hours later, Tom was able to send a plumber. Thirty minutes in advance, Yuri, the plumber, sent me a text with his photo (nice touch!) and the office alerted me by both email and a phone call. Yuri got right to work on arrival and did not give up until he made major progress. I'm hoping it will continue to thaw without a major leak -- I am confident Yuri has increased the odds of that happening. I was really pleased with Yuri's professionalism and expertise. Before leaving, he also showed me how to turn off the water source, what to do over the next few days and, as a bonus, offered a great idea about adding some vents in my ceiling to get heated air into the space between floors where the frozen pipe is located. My sewer backed up and flooded my basement. Excel came out 2 days later-12/30. Plumber rodded from my floor drain (next to my washer-NOT the sewer drain like he was suppose to. ( I did not know- Im a female) Got out a handful of tree roots. Excel charges over $300. After talk with male friends found out it should have been the sewer drain by basement wall. I called Excel-was told plumber was new and would have someone come out again. Same guy came out on 1/3/2017! Another handful of roots. All seemed fine until 1/17- sewer backed up again!! Called Excel-owner/manager on Fri was on phone and would call me back. No return call so called the next day. Owner/manager not in till Mon. Was told they could send someone out to assess for a charge- 30 day warranty over!! Still no phone call. Called another plumbing company. Work was excellent. Please do your research before you hire a plumbing company we had the worse experience with these guys. They came to fix a disposal we are left with a broken dishwasher and a system that doesn't work. Right after the technician left I ran the dishwasher and it leaked all over my wood floors. We had to empty it manually if we were out of the home it would of ruined our hardwood floors .. I called them the technician came back the next day he said sorry i didn't have the pipe to the dishwasher right. He left and the dishwasher isn't working. They insisted to send a senior technician that also had no idea what to do with the dishwasher was short with us and rude. Now we still have a broken dishwasher when it was working just fine due to their poor disposal installation. They never called us back or followed through. They don't stand by their service like they advertise. I am sure they have done jobs right but you know a company at times when the job doesn't go right and how they handle the situation. We brought in abt to look at the dishwasher they said it's a plumbing problem. Now it's been 2 weeks still no dishwasher, $600 short and it's the holidays. I can't say anything good about this group. The first service person they sent didn't fix the problem and I had to call them again within two days of the service. He came again. Thought it was fixed. It wasn't. Finally, distraught, I called another plumber for whom I had a recommendation and he fixed it - the first time, for less than the bill from Excel. I contacted Excel with my story and asked if they could at least help me pay the bill from the second man - whose work worked! No way! They could do nothing for me. I had a major flooding problem at our home. After hiring an engineer and getting plans, and getting the OK from the village, I bid the project to out 4 plumbing contractors in the north shore area. Excels initial proposal was very reasonable. However, as we were planing the project, Dave Ruderman, the president of Excel and the project manager discovered some issues with our engineering plans. He spoke with our engineer about his concerns and my engineer agreed with David and redid the plans Because there were changes with the design, Excel had to recalculate the cost of the project. Although, there were now added cost, they were still very reasonable - cost wise. While we were wait for things to come together, I had some other plumbing issues, clogged sewer main and a broken garbage disposal. I called Excel and they sent out a plumber the same day. Cost-Very reasonable. The Plumbers-Very Professional. AND, the cleaned up after themselves. Now as for the project. It was much bigger than I thought. However, the plumber and workmen then sent were professional, knowledgeable and quick. By the end of the week they were already beginning to clean up. The workmanship was/is impeccable. After seeing what went into getting this project completed, I feel I received excellent value for my dollars spent If you are looking for honest and experienced plumbers, who also happen to be nice guys. My toilet was bubbling, so I called tree companies one after another to estimate and fix it. All of them told me that it is fixable only by excavating from outside. All of them estimated this job for thousands $$$, giving me huge range of estimates. I gave it another try and called Excel Plumbing. Serge came promptly, located access to this spot from inside of my house and cleaned it for fraction of the estimate I was given by other companies. I am very happy! Serge recommended me to clean the line once per year periodically to prevent this problem from happening in future. I am very happy with Serge's great service, provided honest estimate and short time taken for fixing the problem. A pipe in our 2nd floor bathroom sprang a leak that quickly flooded the bathroom and began to drip into our 1st floor kitchen. This all happened after hours, so we had to find an after hours plumber quickly. I called the emergency number for Excel and someone quickly answered and came within the hour. The service worker that arrived assessed the problem and began working immediately. Their prices were reasonable, especially for an emergency service. They charge a flat fee of $200 for the first hour and $75 for every half an hour after that. When the service worker was there he was actually running up and down the stairs of our house (presumably to finish the job quickly). However, he did have to go back to his store to get another part we needed to finish the job and the clock did not stop when he was gone. It took him a little over half an hour to get there and back. So, that brought the work time up to 1.5 hours, all of which we were charged for. However, it did seem like he was trying to finish in as little time as possible and their work is guaranteed for a year. He did clean up the entire area after the work was complete and was organized and informative as to what was wrong and how he fixed it. read more

Interesting interaction with this company last week that I trust can help you save at least $30. This company is not trustworthy and uses a business practice that is borderline unethical. I called and worked with 6 plumbers on a recent project in my rental property involving a routine installation of a faucet and sink. The person on the phone said they could not quote the price on the phone but when pressed gave me a quote for a normal installation that was in line with the others I had received. The plumber showed up, he was fine, nice enough guy, and gave me an official quote that was over 3 times what was quoted on the phone. To be fair, the price on the phone was a "ballpark and cannot give you the exact price without seeing it" but the plumber that came on site used an app that was literally click a button and the price came up. They can quote everything from anywhere but choose not to so the can show up and gouge you with a high price. Again, the pricing was over 3 times the soft quote and over 3 times what 4 of the other plumbers quoted and what I paid. This is taking advantage of people because I am sure most people go with the plumber that shows up because of an immediate need and "they are here, so we might as well...". Be aware of this strategy as it will cost you a lot of money. read more
