Her space is cute and cozy, and it's separated from the bustle of the hair studio to be quiet enough to relax and listen to the really cool mix of music playing or have a fun conversation with Abbey. My son and daughter have been getting their hair cut by Heather Havlin for about a year now. I have two of the pickiest children who are VERY hard to please. My son has only had 3 stylists he's liked in his 11 years and maybe 1 or 2 more for my 20 year old daughter. They both adore Heather. She's quick and keeps them both entertained. Visited this salon recently for a pedicure. Someone recommended because the salon had high reviews. Ok I'll give a shot. (They do other services as well). I was shocked to see how the basin was being filled with what looked like an extension of hose from a shampoo bowl. But not only that, the tech PUSHED the basin (that had no jets) to another room to do the service. What the WHAT?! No pedicure chair? I may as well have been using one of those metal wash bins! There was only ONE basin too, so forget getting pedi's with a friend. There was also a very lacking amount of choices for polish colors. The paint job was meh. I did a better job 2 days later when I repainted due to the entire nail not being painted. From the experience I had and the looks of the place, hair services seems to be their fortè. Though the person doing my service was very pleasant, I won't be going back. read more

Awesome local salon in Irvington. I've been to Evolve twice now for haircuts with Heather, and both times have been great! -Staff are all friendly and make you very comfortable. They listen to what you want but offer suggestions or ideas if you ask. -I can't speak for all of their stylists, although I will say it was moderately busy when I was there and every other client seemed happy. My husband has also been there multiple times and loves his haircuts. -Specifically, Heather is very good at cutting and styling hair -- she takes her time. She is very precise, creative, and knowledgeable. -Space is bright and open with pretty artwork. -You are offered water/coffee/tea while you wait. -They shampoo your hair with their Kevin Murphy product line, which smells amazing. - You can easily book appointments online! read more

I love this salon. I tried them through Groupon and kept going. I don't have a favorite stylist yet. So far, my cuts have been stellar no matter who does them. I used to never get compliments on my cuts. Now I get them almost daily. They are willing to experiment and try anything. I like fun colors and they have the best on hand selection. They all are good at being honest if they don't think a certain color will work. If you decide to try unnatural colors for the first time, go here. I've seen unpleasant results from places that do naturals very well, but aren't used to unnatural color. I've also seen people with unflattering hair color -- and it's most likely because the stylist didn't want to be rude and say it wasn't a good match. Evolve stylists won't let you down. read more

I'm absolutely in love with Evolve. Curtis works magic. I'm a natural muddy brunette and I was terrified to go blonde (both because I thought I'd look awful and because I thought I'd spend roughly $1m a year on maintaining it), but I trusted Curtis and now I'm in love--plus he did it in a way that it grows out beautifully without monthly maintenance. The space is great, irvington is fabulous, and I love the products they carry. I truly have zero complaints. But if you're here in Indy, I can now recommend (over 4 experiences) Emily at Evolve. I spent over a year looking for a good fit (mostly to cut my hair like a magician!) but also pleasant to be around. I'm not a big fan of drama queens--male or female. She's extremely nice, down to earth and about her business. And, it's nice to have someone pamper you--love the shampoo experience! Not inexpensive (men's cut) for Indianapolis, but Emily is worth it! A week after my cut I will find myself still admiring her work. read more

I was told by other stylists that it couldn't be done in one session, yet she made it happen. I had my first hair appointment at Evolve yesterday. I am an older man with very white thinning hair which is very hard to make me look anything more than an old geezer. At least that was the case until I went to Evolve and met Curtis. He took his time and asked me about how I liked my hair curly and what I expected from this appointment. He was very professional, even taking a history of my previous experiences. The salon is bright and a very pleasant space. I'm not saying he took 10 years off my looks but I have never had a better cut and style. I would recommend this salon to anyone. It was truly a great experience. read more

I went to recently to Evolve and overall left feeling ripped off and unsatisfied. The color was so-so, I showed a few pictures and the end result was not far off from the color I entered with. Additionally the price point was ridiculous! I purposefully said not to flat iron or curl and I left with damp hair yet I was still charged with the $30 blow out fee. The color was $145 for a partial hi lite. I called the next day because I was so disappointed with what I left with (which I have never done before) so they squeezed me in the next day. The color was improved a bit but not what I was looking for. I felt bad for the woman following me because by fitting me in she ended up waiting over a half hour. I will not return!! read more
