There are restaurants in every direction and easy to get to. You definitely have to drive...the road isn't really walkable and especially in the dead of summer. There is ample parking all the way around the building and multiple exit doors and elevators at each end. This BW has clearly been renovated. The lobby was impeccably decorated and had an open coffee/tea bar and ice cold water with fruit added. There is also a well stocked market right near the front desk. When we checked in we got the floor I requested and the front desk person told us all about the amenities including a daily free happy hour in the building across from the lobby. We made our way to our room and got settled in. The room felt and smelled clean. The room was just what I wanted with two queen beds and an AC unit that worked to perfection. I love when there are multiple lamps around with different brightness settings including on the nightstand. The room was also equipped with a wet bar with fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Bathroom was stocked with loads of towels which is always preferred. We did check out the happy hour which was pretty good and yes included cocktails. If you stay don't skip it! Ice machines were easy to access, and parking was plentiful, with plenty of overflow parking available if needed. There was also a poolside bar, which looked like a nice place to relax. I didn't eat there during my one-night stay, but several people told me the food was decent. Overall, I can't think of any reason I wouldn't stay here again when visiting Mesquite. If you're looking for an affordable place that's clean, comfortable, and does the basics well, the Virgin River is a solid choice.

We had communicated ahead of time that we would be arriving when they opened so we could get our vehicles quickly and start our day. Despite that, there were only three employees working, making the check-in and rental process extremely slow and causing significant delays for our entire group. The bigger issue came once we were in Zion National Park. Our vehicle broke down and left us stranded. It took nearly two hours for assistance to arrive, and when they did, they were unable to fix the problem. We were then charged to have the vehicle towed, even though the breakdown was due to the rental vehicle itself. To make matters worse, we were never offered any type of insurance or protection plan before renting, so we weren't even given the opportunity to consider additional coverage. We also witnessed several other vehicles in our group get flat tires. In those cases, help again took around two hours to arrive, and the employees showed up with the wrong size replacement tires and without a tire jack, creating even more delays and frustration. Mechanical issues can happen, but the lack of preparation, poor customer service, slow response times, and inadequate support made what should have been a fun adventure incredibly stressful. Based on our experience, I would not rent from Mad Moose again.

So it caught me by surprise just how much I liked Quail Park Lodge. It's tucked against those incredible red rock views and endless Utah skies, right on the main road through Kanab. Granted, that's not saying much because Kanab basically has two main streets, but the location is perfect for getting anywhere in town while still feeling peaceful. The best way I can describe it is that it has Airbnb personality without the Airbnb hassle. The room felt modern, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated instead of looking like it was furnished by the Hotel Beige Committee. The bed was genuinely comfortable, the bathroom was spotless, and the rain shower head made me briefly consider whether I should just live there now. Everything about the place was easy. Keyless entry, simple check-in, easy parking, a nice little pool out front, and lots of those small touches that make you feel like someone actually cared about the guest experience instead of just checking boxes. I booked online, although you'll also notice a QR code posted at the property if you're already in town. Either way it's as painless as booking gets. It's rare that I say a hotel actually made my trip better, but this one absolutely did. I'd stay here again without a second thought. Five stars. I'd give it a 10 out of 10, but Yelp insists on limiting my enthusiasm.
