After walking into the Outrigger Waikīkī Beach Resort to get to Duke's Waikīkī for lunch, I noticed the Malibu Shirts store. I've bought Malibu Shirts t-shirts before to add to my "senior uniform," but, this time, I was looking for parting gifts for my relatives. Upon entry, I was greeted by a friendly female voice. Still, I didn't see anyone who could've said it and found it was the sole worker who was behind the counter that was protected by a Plexiglas barrier and was hidden by a male customer paying for his purchase. As this store's name implies, many of the brand logos represent Californian and Hawaiian beach designs. There are logos from local and international companies that are either defunct or still existing that people over a certain age remember, making them "vintage." I continued to browse the store until the female staffer came out from behind the counter asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. Meanwhile, I saw several logos such as Pan Am World Airways (started 1927 & went out of business in '91), Aloha Airlines (Honolulu-based airline 1946 - 2008), Hawaiian Airlines, Rainbow Drive-In, Waikīkī Surf Club, and more. My husband caught up with me in Malibu Shirts and took me off my memories to select t-shirts for his brothers. Both t-shirts were reminders to my brothers-in-law of their local roots and represented products they could identify with. The quality and hand of the material are excellent since Malibu Shirts uses 5.5 oz 100% ringspun cotton, and they're pre-shrunk. The screen printing is also well-made and can last through many machine washings. Short sleeve t-shirts are rather pricey at $29 apiece, but because of the quality and design selections, we didn't mind. This store was smaller than their other store at the Waikīkī Beachwalk (Lewers Street), but it's conveniently located in this hotel. I don't know if they validate parking in the hotel if you shop here. Still, we joined my relatives for lunch at Duke's Waikīkī afterward, where my relatives who were borrowing our car said they received 4-hour parking validation at the Ohana East Hotel's self-parking lot.

They essentially told me to go kick rocks because it was marked as delivered and there was nothing else they could do. There are too many *good* t-shirt companies out there to put up with this. We wanted to walk around the international market since we have not been here in some time. We came here to look at some clothes. We saw a sign that said 40% off at the front. Ok! I love sales and one of my favorite stores being Anthropologie, why not? We headed to the sales rack. I bought some clothing but then one of the pants fitted too small for me. So I needed to return them. The next day, we returned to international market. We went to see what sort of pants can we find to exchange for the previous purchase. During our search this one security lady who looks like Laura Dern with short wavy red and burgundy hair said out loud, "Find everything alright?" We said yes. As we headed over to the register for check that security lady looked at us suspiciously. Casting at us a nasty look at us as if we did something wrong. Does Anthropologie know they have people like that working for them??? I love Anthropologie. I love their clothing and their lifestyle personal items. But interacting with that person made it a more bitter experience.

In the Princess Kaiulani Hotel 3. In the Sheraton Waikiki Resort This location is in the Sheraton Waikiki Resort which doesn't validate parking. The first 20 minutes are $2.50. I had a gift card from an Instagram contest, sponsored by the Waikiki Shopping Plaza. I went to the Kalakaua Avenue location on a holiday and got free street parking about 4 blocks away. They said that there was no value on the card. The office was closed because it's a holiday. I messaged Waikiki Shopping Plaza, and they eventually contacted Tiffany at the Sheraton Waikiki Resort location. I went right away, but it was her day off. Luckily, Kimiko knew the situation and helped me with genuine sincerity. She saw that I was interested in the pineapple earrings and helped me gather them together to compare. She pointed out the most popular designs. Then, we looked through the turtle earrings... post, dangling, bling-bling, and different sizes! She was very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly! If I had more time, I'd look through other merchandise (tote bags, pouches, clothing, etc), but Kimiko knew she couldn't validate my parking. She told me that there's 10% off on clothing for Kama'aina with State ID. Next time I have a function at this resort, I'll take a look again!

They carry a wide range of sizes in this store so you'll definitely find something that fits you. The prints are more elegant, muted, and aren't as in your face bold as your typical Hawaiian shirt. The employees here are eager to help and are super friendly. It's a great place to buy matching outfits for the whole family. Great experience overall!

This past May, we visit again on the hunt for a belt. Our SA, Masayo-san remarks, "I remember you. I believe Lia was your SA." You can imagine the shock on my face that she remembered who I was from three years ago and she wasn't my SA at the time. Immediately, I felt so special. We didn't spend too much time there on our first visit that day since we were still deciding between two different brands. The next day, we decided on Prada and went in to purchase with Masayo-san. She was extremely patient with us on getting the right color and size for my partner. We also got to chat on a more personal level and took photos together. I will never forget this experience!

Yay for BikiniBird!…read more This fun story happened in Ko'Lina, while I was staying with my family at Disney's Au Lani for a few days. Our 3rd visit within the past 5 years. The store was new to us, as it wasn't there when we were last vacationing in Feb 2019 I stopped in after catching sight of a little girls cheetah print reversible one piece bathing suit hanging inside the store. My almost 7 year old daughter tried it on and she LOVED it. Check! Interestingly enough, in the dressing room were some items that looked like they would fit me, including a pair of Stillwater high waisted loose white pants and this killer top by Peixoto that had poofy arms and an open back in a stunning marigold color. The Clara top, it was called. I tried them on, they fit perfect and I HAD to buy them. So I did. Who knew leaving clothes in a dressing room could work out for another potential patron Maybe it's a new sales tactic (if it wasn't already done purposefully). I returned later the next evening to see if there were other suits for my daughter and the sales woman was so lovely. I showed off my new wears from the night before and she told me how the skirt to match the top was to die for and it wasn't at the store but could be found online. I found it later that night from the Peixoto website and ordered it. Thank you Apple Pay. So, in summation, sending along love and gratitude for your beautiful store, well selected items for purchase, and your terrific, on point staff. Plus I noticed you have the roll-on perfumes and candles from Maison Louis Marie, of which their sandlewood scent (the Bois du Bourgeois) I actually brought with me to Oahu.
