It's maintained nicely, with a small cafe at the entrance. There's a good variety of films always being screened, although since there aren't too many screens the times aren't always the most convenient. Americans beware though! If you are a butter lover like me, while the concessions do serve popcorn, there is no extra butter. Major disappointment. I don't care if it's healthier for me, it still stinks.

Seats are uncomfy and old (although they do have 2 or 3 rows of VIP seats now). Toilets are woeful and old. Ticket prices are also very expensive - £8.40 during peak times (5pm onwards) - and food & drink is getting expensive too. I think if cinemas want to encourage people to visit, they should charge considerably less for tickets, food & drink and invest in refurbishments inside (esp for this outdated Vue). Lastly, thank god for orange Wednesdays!

But the restaurants next door offer discount to the cinema if you eat there - which is a great incentive to get out for the night. Lots of parking - and queues aren't normally bad. I would go all the way to 5 stars if they were an IMAX cinema - it's big enough to have it installed - so they should just do it.

When it first had its grand reopening it was really busy but on the first showing it was so hot that most people had to leave, one person even fainted! It was much better before they split the screen up. Now it is much too small to enjoy a film as much.. On the upside, it is cheaper than most of the major cinemas and it doesn't get the new blockbusters too much later than the main ones, but obviously can't show as many at once so doesn't get all of them. The seats are comfortable, drink/food is relatively cheap if you compare it to a normal cinema, but still expensive.

Its housed INSIDE the 1331 Restaurant, so you have to go up the stairs, through the restaurant, and up another flight of stairs to the attic. And yes, this is part of a restaurant, but i think this space is just so unique, it completely deserves its own Yelp page. Its the comfiest, cosy, most intimate little cinema I've been to, with 20 leather recliners and a bunch of bean bags up front. They won't be showing new releases, but anything on DVD (as far as I'm aware) - so that night, it was Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And my admission fee? A cocktail. Actually, make that 2 cocktails - the bar has drink specials from Sun-Thurs! So thats it folks, I got to sit in a cosy attic space in a leather recliner, with my cocktail, away from the rain, watching a film. AWESOME. I was incredibly full from my meal, but apparently you can order regular food items from the restaurant. Turns out the owner is also an indie film maker, so he created this little cinema so he could screen his movies, and there have been indie film festivals held here (those are separate events where you do have to pay admission). ASIDE from film festivals - they are trying to screen movies every .. honestly, I'm not even sure. I was told maybe every 2 weeks, depends on demand, what people want. It doesn't operate everyday, or show films every few hours. I'm still in disbelief that my admission was just a drink, and I could eat proper restaurant food inside. I'm not aware of how popular this cinema is (about 7 people watched the movie that night), or if its mainly a word of mouth thing - but SPREAD THE WORD PEOPLE, this place is AMAAAAZING!!! They've even created a Tiffany themed room (like from Breakfast At Tiffanys). How amazing is that?! WHY I LOVE BRANDY BROWNS Its stuff like this which makes me jealous of the residents of York!! There are many things to do here, which would certainly be suitable for families, adventure seekers, cinema lovers and co, including Tenpin bowling, a Cineworld Cinema. There is also a gym and rock climbing area. For food and drink, you're also tempted by a wide array of brands including Nando's, Ask Italian and Pizza Express. There is also a Starbucks here, although it didn't look too welcoming. It felt so uncomfortable that they openly admitted they did not trust customers to have food items in the fridges, and kept them all in the back - I totally understand loss prevention but I've never seen any Starbucks locations do this other than this one. The car park is HUGE, it felt way too big, but I'm sure due to the varied things to do and eat here, it can get quite busy, especially in such a peak location, being right off the motorway it makes it easily accessible through all points of the country. PRO TIP: If you're going on a longer journey, make this a stop off to get a bite to eat or something to drink, you have a selection of brands and you're not paying the high prices of motorway service stations. There is a small selection of shops here too, but nothing too special, this isn't really a place you'd come to shop. There's a sporting goods store and a WHSmith Travel location as I could recall, that's pretty much it. 4* - I like this place, it's pretty cool and certainly a good spot for a family day out.

Now the only cinema with an IMAX screen in Sheffield, but be prepared to pay to see a film on this screen. Whilst a Starbucks has just opened in the cinema lobby, unfortunately it does not take the Starbucks loyalty card so just be aware of that before you order. And watch out for parking on Orange Wednesday's or when an event is on at the Arena. If you don't get there early it can be a bit of a nightmare finding a space. Overall, reasonable facilities and fairly comfortable seats for those extra long films.

If you want to see the latest blockbuster in Sheffield then Cineworld is the place to go. If you want to nod sagely as you admire the mise-en-scen of the latest Alain Resnais reprint then try the excellent Showroom independent cinema in town.

The…read morenice thing about having the cinema at Meadowhall is that you could have dinner and a movie all in one place. We ordered our tickets online and just used one of the kiosks to retrieve them when we arrived. There was a line for drinks and snacks, so if you aren't sneaking your own in, leave yourself a bit of time. While you enter the cinema from the upper level, when inside, screens 1-6 are downstairs while the rest are upstairs. The screen we went into had VIP seats in the center. Mr. Snarky didn't pay for them as the regular seats are actually quite comfortable and not too far off from the VIP seats in quality. However, we did sit right behind one of the VIP rows and I had the unfortunate experience of having the person in front of me leaning back quite far in his seat... surprisingly there wasn't much room between my seat and his, so I have a small bruise on one of my knees that couldn't escape his seat back. Not sure if you can exit through any part of the mall when the movie ends after closing time as we parked nearest to The Oasis so we wouldn't have to worry about this. Other than that, we were quite pleased with our experience, definitely better than our local cinema.

However, Vue have done something different with their evo screens, where you'll find couches and even beanbags to lie on. Since the refurb, all screens, despite being small, have extremely comfortable seats (without the need to pay extra), and there is now a bar as well. Normal refreshments are still available, although there is often large queues at busy times. Ticket machines are available if you want to get in quick, and include a seat-picker. They also give student discounts.

But organisation is still poor still - my film had a programme time of 11.00 a.m. and the outer doors stayed firmly shut until then. I had prepaid my tickets and picked them up as soon as I went in but the bozo behind the counter ordered me to the back of the ticket queue in order to get some drinks. I tried to say I already had my ticket but he was adamant and rather smug in his instructions. Luckily the cinema's manager saw this and came and invited me to go straight to a free till to buy the drinks I wanted. I had the satisfaction of being served by the same smug guy who now looked furious at being made to serve me. Hilarious! I left this from my previous review: This is a rather nice little cinema that features many of the latest film releases. The web site is rather poor as it seems to not let you reserve more than 4 seats (there are 5 people in my family) and they also tell me you may not buy more than 9 tickets at any one time. That is problematic when you are trying to get a birthday party outing sorted out and I've told them they need to address this. Once you get into the screen it's all good, it's just the 'getting there' that causes problems.
