From the moment he arrived, Chef Jon felt like an old friend. He was warm, funny, and engaging, making the entire evening feel relaxed and special. The food was phenomenal--perfectly cooked steaks, incredible parmesan risotto, the best shrimp we've ever had, delicious broccoli, and a caesar salad with homemade dressing that even won over the anchovy skeptics! The lava cake was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. What made the evening even more meaningful was that Chef Jon recreated the very first meal Marcus made for Jennifer when they were dating, adding such a thoughtful, personal touch to their anniversary celebration. When dinner was over, the kitchen was spotless, and his generosity extended beyond the meal--he even offered us his own fishing poles when he learned our rental didn't have any. Chef Jon doesn't just prepare amazing food--he creates unforgettable experiences. If you're considering hiring him, don't hesitate. You'll get an exceptional meal and memories that will last a lifetime.

After speaking to a few different caterers on the phone, Salthouse was the obvious choice because we felt like they were really invested from the beginning, we weren't just another number to them. They asked personal, in-depth questions that made us feel confident that they were the people for the job. We wanted the food at our wedding to reflect Charleston's cuisine since we had a lot of out of town guests, and several guests said it was the best fried chicken and shrimp and grits they ever had. For cocktail hour, we had a beautiful Southern antipasto spread with biscuits, pimento cheese, and all the fixings. We were blown away during the tasting and they made everything so easy. They even coordinated the rentals for our linens through Snyder, which was a huge help. They were super professional and we had a perfect wedding day thanks to them. Highly recommend them for any event!

We placed a large corporate order. They arrived punctually, set everything up which included all of the serving pieces. After the party, they picked everything up promptly. The food was delicious, flavorful and plentiful! We ordered chicken with mushrooms, vegetarian lasagne and the pork. All three were a hit with the guests. The order with a side, salad and drinks. I received compliments all evening from the guests. I would highly recommend Dish & Design and will be ordering from them going forward including for my personal parties.

Dish & Design catered the food for us during our Family Reunion in Charleston. My husband had been…read morespeaking with Sarah, who was new to the company, since the beginning of January 2024. Sarah was extremely helpful in promptly providing the meal options and quotes for the weekend. The prices seemed reasonable and the menu options appealed to us. He took the information provided to him back to our family reunion committee, so we could vote on whether or not to proceed. The committee voted and it was decided to proceed with Dish & Design. We decided on the menus for both nights and signed the contracts. We thought everything was finalized after signing the contracts until we were notified that the menu prices had increased for 2024. Unfortunately, we were not initially provided this information at the time we received the quotes, menu options, and contracts. We reached out to Sarah, who needed to speak with her boss, Ana, about this issue. Ana spoke with my husband and stated we would need to sign new contracts due to the menu prices increasing. He provided this information to the chairperson of our committee and she reached out to Ana directly about this issue. Ana was extremely unprofessional and unwilling to honor the initial signed contracts. She really left us uneasy about this issue and extremely unsatisfied. She even went as far as to say, Sarah was new and inexperienced and that was the reason for the mistake. As the manager, she never took ownership nor accountability for the mistake and just played the blame game. After many discussions and much reluctance from Ana, she finally agreed to honor the Sunday meal contract; however, she did not honor the contract for Saturday's meal and stated we would have to sign a new contract and pay the increased prices for that particular meal. With limited time and resources, since we are not residents of Charleston, we opted to stick with Dish & Design. While, some of the guests thought the food was decent and the service during the event was great (special thanks to Christina), it still left a less than desirable interest to ever hire them again nor recommend them for catering services. Although, everything wasn't bad, Ana's attitude and lack of professionalism is the main reason I cannot recommend Dish & Design for catering services in the Charleston area and can only rate them with 3-stars.

Chicken may have been a little on the dry side but that's not why you get a salad. This place routinely earns awards for best Mac and Cheese in the area. Certainly agree that it is very good! Very creamy cheese sauce and the bacon is cooked right. Finely chopped crispy bits add a very good touch and are well worth the upcharge. Portion size also very good. We split the salad and the Mac. It's a good thing they didn't charge extra for all that yakking!! I had a Caesar salad with shrimp and it was delicious. The shrimp were a nice size and grilled beautifully. The Caesar dressing was quite good , not too much cheese which I like. I would have preferred some toasted bread crumbs over bagged croutons but I should have just asked to leave them off. It's rare to find a place that makes croutons anymore. My companion had fish tacos and they were blackened beautifully. And on a day that was hot as hades, that air conditioning worked great!! They do have outside seating for cooler weather. And it's close to my house!

Frank and I are grateful to have had Chef Chris cater our wedding reception in September of 2018…read more Since we live in Virginia and were unable to fly down to Charleston for tastings, we reached out to Chef Chris based on his online reviews. Thank goodness for the reviews! They were on point. Chef Chris was extremely professional and his food was amazing. Not only did Chef Chris provide the catering, but he also was the point person for my table, chairs, and linen rental and the bar service. Having Chef Chris as the point person was a life saver, giving me a single point of contact for multiple moving parts! Our wedding reception was held at out of town and very casual yacht club. It was a bit of a schlep from Charleston (about a 40 minute drive) and didn't have a freezer. Chef Chris brought *everything* he needed, including an ingenious way to keep ice cream without a freezer on site (not sure how he did it, but I assume I would have been impressed). His staff was terrific and multiple guests said the bar service staff was also wonderful. The food was perfect! We had the low-country boil and it was AMAZING! The shrimp were HUGE and the corn was crisp, potatoes were perfect, and the sausage was bursting. We also had pulled pork on soft buns, as well as salad and green beans. No wedding cake - we went with apple cobbler. All my guests commented on the food, during and after the wedding reception. Serving large groups is always a challenge, but Chef Chris made it seamless and so flavorful! Frank and I strongly recommend booking Chef Chris! He is wonderful to work with and delivers amazing food and service. Good luck!
