Might just make paddle boarding my entire personality. I recently went on a paddle boarding trip in both Phoenix and San Diego and instantly fell in love. As soon as I got home I purchased my very own inflatable stand up paddle board. Since I'm now a SUP spokesperson, I had to drag everyone I know along for this adventure. Enter OEX Sunset Beach rentals. Our first day on the water was in the harbor of Sunset Beach, gear provided by OEX. Their rentals were incredibly affordable, $20 for three hours if you rent early in the day. Their customer service was top tier. They even extended the rental after we accidentally went beyond the 3 hour period. Beginners can start on their butts and eventually make it to their knees. After a bit of practice you'll easily be able to accomplish standing. Especially if you already have decent balance! Such a fun and affordable activity to do in Orange County. Surprisingly so much fun and perfect weather for double person kayaking in the winter. It felt so serene and peaceful. Andy was great and we were on the kayak within 5 minutes of arriving there. Parking was also convenient as they have parking on their lot. Due to full moon, he shared that they have super high high tides and super low low tides. We were able to enjoy lunch that we had packed at a park beach nearby. I had kayaked before, during the summer, and this felt more relaxing with less people on the beach. We loved taking our time thru the canals, looking at boats and beauitful houses. Overall a great expereince and will def be returning again to try paddle boarding. read more

Wow! What a lovely experience doin the kayaking and snorkeling through these guys. So that area in La Jolla is FILLED with snorkeling shops. I had a chance to look into all of them and I thought that this place was the best. The other ones seemed very touristy and over crowded. This place was cute because its also a surf shop that has great clothing and the vibes/staff are much more laid back, which I prefer. The kayaking and snorkeling part was amazing. I was lucky to get two great guides, COLBY and PHIA. I recommend them! I was doing the experience solo and Colby asked if he could jump on my kayak and I said absolutely. He made the experience so lovely, funny and interesting! Both Colby & Phia were also VERY knowledgeable about local wild life as well. They are apparently the only shop in town that is required to also learn about the wild life, next to their first aid+ I very much recommend taking this experience. Such a fun time to kayak and see all the fishies and sea lions by the cove! 10/10 read more

This is always my go to spot for SUP. They have a early bird special of $20 pp for 2 hours before 10:30am. Perfect due to calm winds and plenty of time to explore the marina. As weekends can get busy, allow yourself time as getting a board can be a wait. Parking: free on the streets or nearby neighborhoods but it does get packed on weekends so allow time for that. Bathroom on site and I believe they have a place to store your items but I prefer to bring them on me. You can place your sandals on your board or on the beach too. Midway there is a park where you can take a rest from paddling and use the bathrooms there too. If you are new to SUP, just let them know and they will go over a quick tutorial of it and you'll get the hang of it. Life jackets are provided. Boards are super sturdy never once fell in and don't plan on it since I can't swim! Waiver are signed at the time when you pay. Views are mainly houses on the marina and their boats, a small beach and a park. It's a really nice experience to get away from the heat and great exercise too. If you have not tried SUP, add it to your list to new things to learn and come here! read more

I came here on Tuesday with some friends to rent paddle boards and we had an amazing experience here! Staff were very friendly, kind, and extremely helpful! They helped us throughout the entire process from filling out individual waivers for each person, to renting the out the paddle boards and kayaks, and even making sure we were provided maps with lanyards so that we could navigate the area while paddle boarding. Pricing for paddle board and kayaking rentals were VERY affordable. There were even lockers inside the store where you can store your belongings while you go paddle boarding and kayaking. This was my group's first time paddle boarding and it was an overall amazing and fun experience! 10/10 would recommend and can't wait to come back again soon! read more

Went there with my gal to rent a double kayak and the owner Brian and, I think it's his son, are such wonderful people; they make you feel really welcomed and they give you the basics of the kayak if you're not such a pro and give you a map. The price was really reasonable for 2 hours of really fun kayaking around Huntington Bay and this is just a great local business with fantastic people that you just enjoy doing business with. Perfect day and a perfect date, and we had so much fun and we're extremely grateful. I miss OEX! I have been a loyal customer to OXE. I recently visit this place and learned it was a different owner. Now they require to leave your ATM card or credit card on hold while you go on your reservation. Honestly, I am not comfortable leaving my credit card to strangers. I would feel more comfortable if it was my ID not my actual credit card just to rent equipment. Also we were asked to bring back all equipment back to the office and put them away. We got no help from staff to help us put equipment away. Staff is not helpful or nice. It felt like I was doing their job. I don't recommend and I will not returning. read more
