The pieces are really unique and high quality. You won't be disappointed because there is very little digging. It's truly a gem.

Love Your Furniture Again Antiques is my favourite new curio shop. Located in the working class…read moresection of Staten Island's North Shore known as Stapleton - 638 Bay Street, very near the Stapleton Station train stop and not far from the Ferry - the price range is "From two dollars and up," according to the manager. They have great hours too - well suited for working people. Closed on Tuesdays, they are open 11 am to 8 pm on weekdays and from 11 to 6 on weekends. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the items for sale are just terrific. If you want a true antique that is unique and in great shape you may pay a couple of hundred dollars but not thousands. This is not a thrift store and yet it is affordable. What caught my eye were the two very large animals in the window display. Prior to the store opening I shot a photo of the window display, focusing on one of the creatures - this image was a very popular item on flickr. My photo wound up in the "In Explore" group which is a highly sought after honour. I generally get from 200-300 hits on an image and 8-10 favourites - the window display from Love Your Furniture got over 5400 hits and 67 faves. What was the item? A large, pink, jewel encrusted, bird or mammal of some sort. When the store opened I ventured in to see what the creature was - it, and the jewel encrusted golden giraffe that graces the other side of the window display, was apparently part of a carousel at one time. This truly unique item and many more diminutive but equally interesting items await the visitor at this gem of a store. In addition to antiques the store features handmade items by Yana, one of the owners - one such item is a gorgeous decoupage end table. If you are on the Island to check out our great street art - and Stapleton is the epicenter of this activity - stop by Love Your Furniture Again Antiques. Bring your wallet as there is literally something for everyone. If you are looking for something in particular, call the shop at 917.525.6686. Oh, BTW, they restore antiques too! You have to love Price Tag, I've been going to Price tag since the late '90s. I used to go to their…read moreold location before they moved and I've been a loyal customer for a very long time. Price tag is part of a trio of stores that sells off price boutique closeouts. The other two are Barney's bargain stores in Hillside and Bloomfield. They didn't call the Bayonne location Barney's because there was already another store called Barney's up on Avenue C. That store closed many years ago. Price tag and the other two locations have a rotating series of stock. Some weeks they have women's, some week they have men's, and sometimes they have Children's. You can get very expensive shoes and clothing at a discount.$200 SAS shoes? You can get them for $50 or less. They have lots of different brands and things change all the time. Sometimes, though, they get things that don't move very quickly. Today I saw some hilarious socks that were for New years 2000. Call them New vintage, I'm sure someone will pick them up. You can always count on Price tag when you need an evening bag, shoes, or a wallet. They tend to get a lot of those items. They are only open Thursday through Sunday. Some of the people who work there seem very disinterested, but the two Natalies who work on Sunday are the nicest. Check it out, you never know what you will find.

I am a pretty avid thrifter (mostly in NYC) and after coming here for the past 3 years I have to…read moreshare that this store is truly one of best in the NYC area. What I love about this store: 1. PRICES - They are always having some kind of INCREDIBLE sale - like "every item $1" or "Fill a bag for $10". I think this thrift store is one of the only remaining in the area that truly charges like a second hand shop! 2. ITEMS - They get some really high quality items in here. I literally walked out of there today with well over $600 worth of items including: baby clothes (ralph lauren, juicy), maternity clothes (gap, motherhood, Michael stars), 5 (Ralph Lauren) polos for my husband and so much more for TEN BUCKS! I have also found really great designer jeans (j brand, madewell, etc) and theory items in this place! I have also gotten great shoes....i bought my sister a pair of barely touched J Crew heels that were still in stores for $1! 3. PEOPLE - The folks who run this place are just as into thrifting as their customers, so they share a warm and positive energy! AND they are all about the cause! 4. ORGANIZATION - I have been in search of second hand maternity clothes since i became pregnant a few months ago....and this store is one of the only ones that have a maternity section. They have all racks clearly labeled which makes the experience all the better! It seems like a tiny shop - but there is TONS to be found... Like anything, there is always room for improvement - but the only thing I could call out are the hours - I wish this place was open more! It's important to keep in mind that it's completely run by volunteers (wonderful people!) so sometimes the hours can flex...they do their very best to stick to the hours but if there is bad weather, I would recommend calling before you go.
