Came in for a Friday the 13th flash and got an amazing piece done for only $100 by a great artist who got it done quickly and efficiently. They always have great flash to choose from and it's affordable and done by very consistent and amazing artists. Cool vibes too, would recommend

I came in on a random Tuesday as a walk in and got three beautiful tattoos from Caesar! Would definitely recommend.

Probably the best tattoo experience I've ever had. Owen was so friendly and talented! I'm so happy with my tattoos and my experience there. Also so affordable for a tattoo shop in SF! I will 100% be coming back again. Thank you!!!

Healed pic of my California wild flowers and burrowing owl piece by Sadie Kennedy
    Arielle C.

Sadie Kennedy did my first tattoo and it was an awesome experience. She is incredibly talented and does high quality work! She listened to all of my ideas, answered my many questions and was willing to collaborate with me to create a piece that was much more beautiful than my initial design and fit the spot I chose on my body so well. Sadie really knows her stuff after so many years in the business and I felt that I was in very good hands through the entire process. It doesn't hurt that she is also fun to chat with while having work done. As for the shop; it is clean, comfortable, nice people work there and it is small enough to have it feel intimate but large enough to not feel too crowded. They play some good music and the sweet artwork on the walls is super inspiring. I have several friends that have had quality tattoos done there.

Owen did a phenomenal job on my tattoo on my wrist. He was so friendly and took my mind off the pain. I didn't think that he would be able to get the lettering so perfect. I could not be happier. Highly highly highly recommend this shop! Super friendly, accommodating, and talented folks. Thanks again!

Courtney is amazing!! This chick knows what she is doing when it comes to colors, and overall design. She totally has a specific style but with her tattooing skills I bet she could kill any design. If you have ideas on what you like, you just send her photos and she will put something together. Put your trust in her and she will come up with some awesome designs. She is clean, her color palate is truly amazing, and her line work and overall color saturation on the tattoo is breathtaking. She is worth every penny and more. Thanks Courtney!!

My new ink by Derick. It's a humorous little twist to the classic memento mori subject matter. Love it!

First of all, I would like to give super props to Derick for doing a phenomenal job on my tattoo. I absolutely adore it, and everyone else I've showed it to does as well :) I came in a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend (who loves this place so much that he only gets inked by Mike now), and I decided on a whim to get another tattoo. Derick's appointment happened to not show up, so he took me on as a walk-in. I told him my idea, and we worked on a couple of concepts for it, and he was attentive, friendly, and patient the entire time, even though we went through a couple of drafts before I was 100% happy with it. I can personally say that I very much appreciate tattoo artists who display a genuine interest in their clients' ideas, since I have had experienced condescension and even annoyance from a previous tattoo artist who I had gone to. During the time that I was in the chair and getting tattooed, Derick was very nice and encouraging, making it much easier for me to ignore the occasional intense pressing pain on the area I was getting my tattoo. Towards the middle of my session, the clients that had previously booked this appointment slot showed up and were visibly upset that he had taken someone else when they were no-shows. Although this was the case, Derick took his time to explain to them that they were unreachable when he had tried to contact them and they never reached out to say that they would be almost an hour late, so he took me up as a client. After some back and forth with rescheduling, in which he even suggested for them to come on his off day and he would work on them, they decided to come back after Derick finishes up on my tattoo. That interaction between Derick and the late clients really solidified my decision to give my experience a five-star review (hell, I'd give a 6-star review if that was possible). From my experiences with many different tattoo artists in the city, I can honestly say that not many of them would be so accommodating, especially with the quality of work that Derick does, he could have easily been a jerk about it and just shrugged them off. The professionalism and wonderful customer service that I experienced from this shop, from Jerry's friendly and helpful attitude at the front desk to the artists' exceptional skill to even the cleanliness and good energy in the shop, will keep me coming back here for sure. Highly recommended if you're looking to get some new ink, obviously.

Not the greatest pic of my ink work but its by Justin
    Joanne E.

Justin is absolutely amazing. I wrote a review about him at Marks of Art, but it only throws him some justice to write one about him at his new shop. He's very nice about everything in regards to accomodating me with what I need. Always very thoughtful about whats going to be done before he decides to take the machine to my skin. He's currently working Sun-Thurs. which is convenient for the hairstylist schedule that I have. His main specialty is portraits and traditional. One of the girls at the shop has a portrait of her father on her chest by him and its absolutely amazing. The eyes he's done on my sun and moon is mezmorizing. I get so many compliments on my colors especially considering I do have darker skin and colors never look "fresh" on my complexion, but he's done a great job to retain the color. FUCKEN LOVE HIM!! P.S. He talks to you while getting tattooed so no awkward silence which is nice for those long 3 hour sessions! DEFINITELY WORTH THE DRIVE THROUGH TRAFFIC AND BACK FROM SAN JOSE FOR JUSTIN AT EVERLASTING!!

UPDATE 02/13/08: Came back to Everlasting to get a cover-up tattoo I've been pondering for the past several years. I am keeping this review at 5 stars, because at the end of the day, I left happy after both experiences. But there are a few things that certain people--especially females, because there's enough testosterone flowing through this shop to fuel another Hundred Years' War--should be aware of before entry. First, it's not the most welcoming shop at first entry, but you just have to enter into the conversation, and it's like you're old friends. Everyone who works there is actually really nice (though maybe it's because I have boobs). Second, there is a lot of "off-color" humor/topics flying around--we had a nice (and detailed) little chat about whore houses, for example--which I personally find incredibly entertaining, but some might not. Finally, there was a grip of dudes milling about, wandering in and out, and drinking beers when I was getting my work--again, this didn't bother me because they shared their beer (even gave me a straw!) and the chatter helped distract me from the searing pain in my shoulder blade. But being a partially disrobed girl in such a scene may be uncomfortable for some. Another thing I found out with this visit is that Henry--as fantabulous as he is--has a seriously deluded concept of time. I called to confirm for my 5PM appointment and he let me know he was running an hour late. And...long story short, we started the needling around 7:45PM. Clearly, tattooists are "artistes" and it's not wise to rush the creative juices, so all this waiting was something I was willing to deal with graciously, but it is something to keep in mind. He also told me the actual tattooing would only take 30 minutes when it was really about 50 or so. But MAN, what he did in that little time was ASTOUNDING to me, so no matter. In the end, I left with a full color, three-flower design covering my right shoulder blade for $200. That's truly a bargain for what I got. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Finally, FINALLY got in to Everlasting here after a year of pondering my tattoo and putting things off (damn my not being independently wealthy). I was able to walk in sans appointment on an rainy Thursday afternoon. Henry fucking rules. Period. He cracks my shit up. Plus, he knows his stuff. I came in with some fonts I liked for my wrist, and he explained why certain ones wouldn't work at certain sizes (without making me feel like a jackass, no less), and came up with a couple fonts that would work how I wanted. He even made me feel badass for getting it in a sensitive spot. [Heart] I was so smitten I made an appointment for another piece on my back...now I just have to find someone to pay for it. Costwise: there is a $100 minimum & a $5 credit card fee. I believe the hourly rate was around $200. You will pay, but that's to be expected with top quality art. Several of my friends have come in here for various work by Mike Davis, and his quality of work is definitely top notch as well.

    Ben Cheese's work
    T F.

When my go to guy at Braindrops told me he was moving I was pretty devastated. But he gave me some recommendations and I checked them out. Ben Cheese at Everlasting Tattoo had some great art and he seemed to have a good eye for detail. So, I called and made an appointment. Jerry at the front desk informed me that Ben wasn't in on any of the days that I would be available. That's majorly disappointing. But Ben to the rescue! He offered to come in on a Saturday, just for us! What a trooper. Appointment made and $100 deposit left, we waited for a month or so. I got Ben's email and told him what CP and I wanted. I was worried he hadn't gotten it because he never emailed me back but when we got there on Saturday he was all ready to go with our stencils! And they were almost perfect. After a few small adjustments we were ready to go. CP went first because he's a tattoo virgin. Ben was super fast and efficient. CP was finished in about thirty minutes. Mine was a little bigger so it took about forty minutes but still, fast. We were in and out of there in about an hour and forty five minutes. The total (including the deposit) was $220. Not the cheapest place I've ever been to but not bad at all. Especially for how great they both look! Both tattoos are totally perfect and beautiful. It's been a little over a week now and they have both healed beautifully. We are some happy clients and I'll definitely go to Ben again.

Finding a good tattoo artist is really stressful and you have to rely on the suggestions of others and hope for the best. My experience at Everlasting was wonderful and I'm really looking forward to going back. I had a piece done that consists entirely of very intricate line work, so I needed someone with a steady hand. Mike Davis was recommended by a friend and when I showed Mike the piece, he said, "Oh hell no. I am not your man - you want Justin for this." Justin took a look and said, "No prob - let's do it next week." Justin did an amazing job and completed the work in half the time I had expected. All the guys are really cool and overall I just had a great day in the shop.

My husband found Mike's portfolio and shared it with me; knowing my taste. Mike caught me off guard; not what I was expecting. He is a very polite, professional artist. Not the big, burly, attitude ridden type I'm used to seeing. The shop smelled hospital-clean and everyone had a smile and upbeat attitude. I'm heavily tattooed, for a girl ;-) and I am a bit shy, so atmosphere is important to me. Albeit, not as important as the artist's skill, but still a bit important. Mike isn't overly chatty. He's pretty intuitive and understand as to whether you are in the mood to visit or have quiet time. He did a full backpiece for me; a mural of a tiger of which I will post pictures. They truly speak for themselves. There was a small amount of coverup work with which he worked wonders. It's amazing to see myself in photos now. I could never efficiently express how happy he's made me. He's now working on another large piece for my upper thigh. It seems each new piece quickly becomes my favorite. Please go look at the photos and take a peek at the Tiger back piece. Really, with that photo, there's no need for words. He's simply an amazing artist.

This was my very first tattoo and I wanted to make sure I would be extremely happy with it. So it took me about 4-6 years to finally decide on an artist and the tattoo shop. I knew about Everlasting a while ago but was always hesitant to try it out because so many of the reviews said that the guys here were dicks. But I was drawn to the reviews on their ink, though. Many people commented on the bright, beautiful colors and how it seems to stay bright for years unlike some places. I finally took the plunge this year. Most of the guys that work there turned out to be pretty cool, which has me wondering why so many people think they're not! I met with Mike Davis (because I was drawn to his style of art) and he turned out to be a really nice guy. He was friendly and confident in his ability to create what I asked for and made me feel at ease with him so I went ahead and made an appointment for my first session. The day I walked in for my session, Mike and I sat down together to perfect the tattoo I wanted. He did his best to try and take my vision and put it on paper, which I'm sure is very difficult. For almost an hour, he was very patient with me, didn't complain nor did he try to make me change my mind about certain things - he just asked me clarifying questions, to try and show him what I was thinking and he just went from there. In the end I'm really glad he took the time to work with me on getting exactly what I wanted because I love it! While I was under the needle, he kept checking to make sure I was doing ok and told me that if I needed a break to let him know. The second time I went in to get my coloring done, he was the same way; periodically checking to see how I was doing and letting me know I could tell him if I needed a break. He was a little more chattier this time but towards the end I got pretty quiet and he didn't force any conversation. The music they played could probably be soothing in some situations but I really wish they had played some hard core punk or alternative or something that could be more upbeat. It's hard to concentrate on anything else but the pain when you're listening to "soft" music! lol I should have remembered to bring my headphones! My PROS: - Shop is clean - they follow all sterilization rules. - Great group of guys, soothing atmosphere - Shop is not anywhere near Bart, BUT the 5 bus stops conveniently at the corner of Fulton and Divisadero, which takes you there and back to the Civic Center or Powell Bart station if you don't want to drive. My CONS: - I wish they'd open up a little earlier. Their hours are from 1-7pm, which is why making an appointment would be helpful, but sucks when you're free time is normally in the mornings. Also, I think it helps A LOT when you know exactly what you want and aren't timid about it. And if it's your first tattoo, I say make sure you let your artist know so they're aware of that... they might be a little easier on you!

I originally came in for a flash sale, but they overbooked and asked to move me to the following day. The next day, after reassessing my schedule, I realized I wouldn't be able to make it and informed them as soon as possible. I was told the deposit was non-refundable. I then asked if I could reschedule for another day, but they said no because it was part of the flash sale--even though the rescheduling was due to their overbooking. I also asked if the deposit could be applied toward a regular (non-flash sale) appointment, and that was declined as well. I ultimately kept the appointment, but the situation didn't sit well with me. While the artist did great work, I was disappointed in how the studio handled the booking and deposit policy.

I've been wanting to do 3D nipple tattooing and areola re-pigmenting for awhile but was 1. not in the best state of health and 2. very very very nervous. Well today, we finally made this happen. I got an appointment schedule over a month in advance. I put down a $100 deposit via Pay Pal. I waited and panicked and then the big day came. I got a ride down to SF. Sasha's shop is on the 17th floor of a building in Union Square. There's a parking garage a block away. It cost $35 and gets you up to 12 hours in the lot. You are not going to find street parking so if you're driving you will want to fork out $35 and be happy your car is safe with only a block to walk! Sasha gave me complete instructions and directions ahead of time. She is VERY professional and organized with her scheduling and timing. The office she works out of is awesome! The entire office and outdoor patio (with wild beautiful birds and parrots might I add) has a total zen approach. The front desk folks were also REALLY NICE and totally trans/queer friendly. Sasha's room was very clean with a sitting area for guests. She was extremely polite, patient, compassionate and thorough to walk me through the ENTIRE process and 1. give me voice throughout it all and 2. check in frequently to see how I was doing. Nipple and areola shopping is quite fun! I got to pick the size, shape and color variation to design on my chest. Boom! I feel so Hollywood now ;) She is extremely sterile and showed me ALL the needles she was using before and as she was using them. Everything from the office, her station, the tattoo bed, frequent changing of gloves, packaged needles, organized ink palettes, fresh paper towels, rubbing alcohol, ETC were CLEAN. I really appreciated how intuitive she was like when I held my breath during bits of pain and she could feel me tense up and gently remind me to breathe. I was excited and anxious and nervous and emotional all at once but she eased me through EVERYTHING. May I also include she has a gentle hand so the needles don't feel like they are digging deeper than deep like some tattoo artists who put all their weight on their artistry hands. Pain level ... well this boy whimpered some but she did use some topical anesthetic after the skin had been broken into to help ease pain. It DID help some. My results, pre bandaging, were beautiful. The bandaging she used is really neat. It's waterproof and clear like a clear tape. I honestly can't stop staring at my new nips even if things are still bloody and bandaged up! I was given very detailed after care instructions which I will be meticulous about following. I can't wait to see the overall results. I'll be scheduling a touch up/follow up in a 1 1/2 months or so. I look forward to seeing her again! Cost breakdown for ME and what I got done: $700 total... that's $100 deposit then $450 the day of the tattoo and then I will pay $150 during our touch up + tip today and I'll tip again on the touch up. Don't forget to tip. Some artists will say you don't have to, don't listen! Tips for those new nips my friends! TIPS! 100% happy with my experience, actually happy is an understatement. I am enthralled like a unicorn catching rainbows and sprinkling glitter from the sky. Yes, indeed. I will recommend her in a HEARTBEAT to any other trans folks who need this procedure, cancer and mastectomy patients or just anyone in need of this kind of help. I was SO ASHAMED of my chest, a chest I fought so hard to learn to love post surgery but still deeply upset about what happened and the trauma from loosing my nipples to my feet in the shower (yikes, just imagine). Now I can live again. This is part 1 of my chest tattooing process (I'll be doing scar coverage with another artist since Sasha is not taking new decorative tattoo clients at this time) and then I will be free. You deserve to be free too. I hope you will consider Sasha and let her help you change your life, confidence and get your groove back!!!
