I went for a routine eye exam with my united healthcare supplemental insurance.when making the appt they said my insurance was accepted. My insurance states an annual exam free of charge. After the exam I was charged $160 for what they called charges that weren't included with the insurance. Never once was i told certain procedures weren't covered to give me the option to accept or refuse that part of the exam. No transparency with this exam and I will never go back. Very shady business. Hannah and Cody helped me. They were outstanding. They suggested superglue to fix my glasses which had broken off the hinge, and it worked so far. i have progressive lenses. i cannot read well with them and i cannot find my golfballls, near and far do not work well. They explained to me that, while I had excellent frames. the lenses were not the best , and had only a small area for reading focus. They suggested lenses that would work better. excellent job. if i did not live in socal, i would definitely use them read more

I then decided to buy another pair of glasses and the ladies there were also fantastic. Highly recommend! I decided to go with Evergreen Vision Clinic because it looked like it got great reviews. I called last week and gave my insurance information to a man that told me that he normally doesn't work at the front desk. It wasn't until late this afternoon that I got a phone call from them saying that they thought I might be out of network. I did not see that voicemail as I was really busy today. So I come to the office only to find out that they do not except my insurance. I said that they shouldn't have let an inexperienced person take my information down as a new patient. The lady at the front desk said "but we called you" and I said "it's not my fault that after the man that took my information that no one checked my insurance ahead of time and called me back" until a few days later. I had to remind them that I made my appointment last week. This is a waste of my day, I am a mom of two kids and I'm also studying and going back to school. They're obviously unorganized. I flunked my vision screening at the drivers license office and called this clinic. They got me in The Same Day! They have all the highest tech equipment. The staff is competent and friendly. The doctor has a friendly, calm, and approachable demeanor. Although I'm sad to learn I have a cataract, it was a great experience. read more

It is been a week now since I visited Dr. Hock and his clinic. This was my first visit, and it was an emergency as I had a burn on my cornea due to old contact solution. Dr. Hock's staff was able to squeeze me in very quickly, even though it was obvious they were booked for the day. His assistant, Amy noticed my severe discomfort and came out and immediately attended to me. Dr. Hock did an examination and gave me medication and relief. So thankful that they were there to see me, and the response and healing was exactly as Dr. Hock told me it would be. After waiting 5 weeks, and spending over 1,000 dollars I still don't have the glasses that I ordered and can't use the ones that were delivered. I made the mistake of ordering the anti-glare coating. Of course my glasses didn't come in with that, even though I paid for it. Also, I opted for the translation lenses. The glasses assume that I'm reading a book 1 foot away for 90% of the viewing area. This means they are useless when walking or driving, or doing anything other than reading unless. . . I wear them at the tip of my nose. So I don't have the glasses that I paid for. The current glasses they gave me are unusable, and they don't give refunds. What a waist of time and money. read more

This was the best experience I have ever had at an eye care center. Vince is the man, he started me off feeling welcome and he talked to me like a buddy while we were going through the initial vision tests. Dr. Hock is super friendly and patient. He made me feel comfortable during a typically uncomfortable process. He definitely is an expert in his field and he hooked me up with a perfect prescription for both contacts and glasses. All the opticians on the staff are outstanding as well. They took their time with me and you could tell they were genuinely interested in getting me into the right frames for my face. When I put on a pair to try on, all the opticians took a look and gave me their opinions. I worked with Dee, and she was super patient...which I need because I'm very indecisive. When I picked out the frames I wanted, Tom Davies of course, she went over all the options for lens types and coatings. I also got some help from Janelle, who is their contacts expert. She gave me some samples and explained all my options clearly. This is a family place, and they treat you as such. I've never felt so comfortable and welcome at an eye doctor. This is my spot from now on...even though I had to drive 45 minutes to get there. I went for the Tom Davies frames and I'll come back for the outstanding staff and customer service. I came in for an eye check up and saw Dr. Wellensiek this time. She was friendly and explained every thing she was checking for. They have a cool machine that will take a picture of the back of the eye to look for tears in tissue or eye diseases. I found it pretty fascinating how much you can see about the eye. My vision is important to me so it was worth the extra cost to make sure I had a healthy eye. The staff is nice and the they seem to have the latest and greatest eye equipment available. Glad I went this year and glad every thing is healthy. read more

What a disappointment!, I was visiting my brother who has been a patient of Dr. Hock for over 15 years. My family and I were walking on the Elk Meadow trail and the little screw on the right side of my glasses fell out. My bother said to me that he had a great eye doctor that could replace the the screw that held it together. We stopped at Dr. Hock's 's office, signed in and was greeted by a gentleman who looked at the glasses and said he would have to check to see if they even had a screw to fit the glasses but if they did, it would cost $10.00. This employee mentioned he was a Norte Dame graduate. Needless to say, I was s shocked by this outrageous price and indifferent attitude by an employee from this office. To be charged for a minor repair such as a little screw is outrageous and $10.00 shows nothing more than a greedy business practice. Even my brother was shocked and embarrassed by this employe's response. I would be careful having this practice perform any procedure on my eyes since they put financial gain above patient care. And people wonder why Walmart is a leader in the industry? I should have gone to them right away but my brother convinced me to go to Dr. Hock. What a mistake! I ended up going to Walmart and was greeted by a pleasant employee who performed the service at NO CHARGE. Thank you Walmart!!!!! I learned my lesson. Both my husband and I have been patients at Evergreen Vision Clinic for many years, and have always received excellent care from both Dr. Hock (our primary Dr.) as well as Dr. Wellensiek. The office staff is friendly and helpful, and we feel that we are in the best of professional hands. As did another reviewer, I had an emergency eye problem diagnosed quickly, and the appointment to a specialist/surgeon made immediately, which saved my eyesight. For those living on the west side of Lakewood, or in a local mountain community, I cannot imagine there being a better eye clinic .(As an aside, it does not seem relevant to downgrade a rating for an organization because of Yelp's mapping problems, and although I have never had difficulty with a phone call to Evergreen Eye Clinic, the previous review may have alerted the office to a problem. read more

Dr. Hock was recommended by other parents in my area. Dr. Hock explained that although regular eye examines for children are good for vision, they do not examine how the eye gives and receives information to the brain. If your child is uninterested in reading and/or homework this is a good place to start. It helps the processes of elimination of a behavioral issue or a vision deficiency. Dr. Hock and his staff provided a very friendly and professional environment and explained our circumstances clearly. We've been customers of Dr Hock at Evergreen Vision Clinic (EVC) for almost 2 years. The service was very good, but admin/billing fell short. My son required treatment earlier this year. After having their clinic verify what was required for insurance, I requested a referral from our primary doctor. Once the EVC received the referral, they called me to schedule the appointment. A few months later, EVC notified us that the insurance rejected the bill, because they didn't have a referral, and we were responsible for the bill. Ugh!!! They went back and forth with the insurance for a few months, but in the end, we had to pay. Quality treatment is important, but customer service includes the admin staff, which was lacking in this case. We're changing doctors now, don't want to risk paying out of pocket again...that's why we have insurance. read more

Dr. Hoch correctly diagnosed a condition with my eye last year and referred me to an excellent specialist who surgically corrected the condition. He added two new diagnostic machines this year to give even better care. I have great trust in his ability and judgement. read more

Dr. Hock is second only to a superhero relative to his profession. My husband had suffered a terrible injury which had potential to cause loss of vision in his eye, had it not been for Dr. Hock's urgency in treating the abrasion, inflammation and infection. Due to the severity of the injury we were visiting the clinic daily for over a week and during that time, at each evaluation, Dr. Hock showed an incredible level of professionalism, knowledge and equally important to us during this trying time, was the level of support and sincere concern we felt not only from Dr. Hock, but the staff as well, who would quickly recognize us from the frequent visits. I can't emphasize enough, the impact that the level of support and sympathy expressed by Evergreen Vision Center had on our emotional state while dealing with the stress, fear and exhaustion of an extensive, sleep depriving treatment plan. My children grew up with him as their eye doctor and now that they are grown and have moved to other states they still say that no other doctor comes close to comparing to Dr Hock. Horrible experience at Evergreen Vision Clinic. I wear my glasses every moment I am awake and so I am picky when it comes to service and quality of glasses. - Staff was friendly - Eye doctor (lady) ok. did not like the fact they were selling 85 dollar supplements when a simple search online can get you something similar for less than half that - The following is what caused me to give them a one star and why I or my family will never go back. I am really pleased with my "old" pair of glassed and with my prescription not changing I am asked to basically duplicate them, material, features everything. Pretty simple you would think as they took my glasses back multiple times and "reviewed" them. What I got was a pair of glasses that were not anywhere near my "old" pair. They overlooked for example they were progressive and the blurring was almost instant when I tried to look to the side. Still no big problem to me as things happen and I understand not one lens is identical. What got me is the fact they stood not behind their work (been back 3 times at that point) and to fix it they needed an additional 200 dollars (after already paying 350) with really good insurance. Obviously made it clear that I was not happy about that but the "manager" was not in the building to discuss. Lady that was helping me ( she was nice but not empowered to do anything about this) assured me that the manager would call me the next day but here we are a week later and I have not heard a peep. As I result I have canceled my order and have gone to Ken-Caryl Vision Center in Littleton which is giving me a way better customer experience. Living in Conifer I like to support smaller local business and as such it is very disappointing to find a shop like this that 1) does not stand behind their service. 2) Does not empower their people to do the right thing ( that really was stunning to me and 3) that does not have the courtesy to call/communicate when they said they would. Do not go to this clinic. I am from the Evergreen area and really try to support and patronize local businesses. However, my visit to this clinic was a disaster. I clearly stated that I wanted new prescriptions for both contacts and glasses at my appointment last October. When leaving, I was asked to pay in full even though I told them that my insurance would pay the bill (minus the deductible). The receptionist stated that he had "never in his four (?) years there heard of medical insurance paying for vision care". He was wrong. I submitted the bill myself, and insurance paid the doctor. Then I had to make at least 3 phone calls to the clinic to get that money back. About 2 months later, they refunded about 1/2 of the money that my insurance paid. They also forgot to take a measurement and I had to come back to the clinic. Finally, when I ordered contacts, they gave me a price and added on a large "contact lens examination fee". This fee was tacked on almost 6 months after the exam! Wow - seems like they just want money. I would not recommend this eye clinic. The trip down the hill to another doctor would be well worth it. read more
