    uneven layering
    Jana K.

This rating is based on some assumptions. 1- It wouldn't be uncommon to come out of a beauty school with a cut not quite what you had in mind. 2- An instructor should make sure you come out with a good cut as they say they will. 3- It shouldn't be on the client to make sure the stylist knows how to cut the hair. 4- You should get the service you paid for. I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend. I needed a cut that was affordable. I looked them up and saw $15 for shampoo, cut, and blow dry. Worth a try. I paid the $15 but didn't get a shampoo or blow dry. I didn't even get a spray bottle to wet down the back where my claw clip had created a lump in the hair. I don't expect a student to give a cut perfect. I had to learn how to cut hair. I know it takes time and mistakes. But I did expect the instructor to do more than instruct on how not to cut bangs too short. The instructor came and started to leave the consult without any instruction on layering, what tools to use for textured cut I asked for, how much texturing to do in hair like mine, etc. even after I had specified with a photo I wanted texture to take out some of the weight in my hair. In short, there was very little instruction for a school and a student who was very clearly not experienced. Sweet and attempting professionalism but lacking experience. I had already asked the student how short the top layer would be because I know this is critical in layered looks. This student didn't know proportion. I had hair 5" past my shoulder and the suggestion before the consultation was that the top layer would start at 4" off the crown. I had to stop the instructor from leaving the initial consult and ask her opinion so the student would hear proper instruction. The instructor didn't come back at all during the cut to check on the progress. The student told me there was only one instructor that day for the whole school. The student finished my cut and went to find the instructor who came and combed through to tidy two or three little snips but somehow managed to miss an entire section in the back and sides where the layers are very uneven. The student who cut my hair didn't botch it terribly. It's passable. Not textured layers but ok. By that I mean I can still put this up in a clip and nobody knows it's uneven. But that is only because I knew enough to guide the instructor or I would have ended up with 5" layers I couldn't have hidden. And that is inexcusable for a beauty school.

The blonde highlights before they ruined with the toner.

Would not recommend to anybody! I asked for blonde highlights and was told it is possible with a help of a toner. The girl spent 2 hours putting the foils on. My back section was "cooking" for 1.5 hours until I asked if it is ok to keep it for so long! My hair turned out blonde when she took the foils off. Then washed my hair and pulled half of my hair out because it is impossible to brush it without conditioner especially after blonde highlights. I assume the teacher told her to put conditioner on and then she brushed it. Then she disappeared for 15 minutes and was walking by few time looking confused while I was sitting by the sink. After spending there over 3 hours she called some other girls to help her to put a toner on my hair. 4.5 hours later my hair is very DAMAGED! My blonde had disappeared and I ended up with the same what I came with but much more damaged! When arrived home realized that few foils in the back are still blonde. They saw my disappointment and all they said is that the toner was way too dark for me. Paid 80$, wasted 4.5 hours plus 1h driving and ended up with damaged hair and lots of tears and disappointment.

I had my first shellac manicure and pedicure this afternoon with Emily (I hope I got her name right). It was nice to see that the salon was busy and that people are helping the students gain experiences. So first, I had the shellac manicure. I am not impressed with how the technician clean my nails. I can still see some loose dry skin around my nails which she didn't remove. She did not even cut my nails to have a uniform size. Though I like the mini hand massage after. For the pedicure, it was so fast I didn't even feel that she cleaned my toe nails as I was on the phone talking. I like the mini foot spa/massage though. I'll just hope that after every service or in between services, the educator should be checking the works done by their students if they did a good job or not. I bought an e-coupon for a year, so hopefully the service will improve.

This review is for Melissa Tran at Everett location. She did such a good job with making sure my hair comes out as I wanted. Went for highlights for new grown hair, she made sure my new foils blend with old ones. She was super sweet and i wish all the best!

When I arrived, I was told the person I was scheduled with wasn't available and was instead given someone new. That alone felt incredibly unprofessional. The service took 3.5 hours, for highlights and low lights before she even started to dry my hair. I left with my hair wet and when it was finished, my roots were still visible and my hair honestly looked worse than when I came in. It was extremely disappointing, especially after waiting so long. What made the experience even worse was the interaction with the instructor, JACOB. He was condescending and dismissive when I raised concerns, which made an already frustrating situation feel even more uncomfortable. If someone is in a teaching or supervisory role, professionalism and respect should be a given and that was not my experience. This is now the second time I've had an issue with scheduling and being assigned someone other than who I booked with. That kind of disorganization is unacceptable. I would strongly recommend that this business improve both their scheduling practices and the level of oversight and professionalism from their instructors. I left feeling frustrated, unheard, and unhappy with my hair.

My hair stylist Sophia was very attentive to my request and careful in washing, cutting, and styling. The instructor checked constantly and made a few small changes to my layers. I recommended thinning since my hair quickly grows thick, and Sophia immediately fixed the cut. For the quality, price, and attention to detail, the haircut was amazing. The only downside is the long appointment time (I finished near 5:30), but it was understandable since the students needed to check their plan and each step with the instructor. I would 100% come back and recommend customers here.

Once I was eventually taken in. It took over 40 minutes after the consultation for the student to begin working on my hair because they were still writing notes and preparing their sheet. The service itself felt inconsistent and poorly managed. I understand this is a training environment, but there seemed to be a lack of structure and time management throughout. My color turned out chunky and stripy, and it was very obvious that at least two different people worked on my hair because my original stylist needed assistance mid way through the coloring. One side came out significantly more orange than the other, and it honestly looked like I had months of grown-out color. After my hair was washed, I was told they "didn't have time" to finish with a blowout. Instead, I was given a card for a complimentary blow dry for another visit, which I was fine with and they said we'd do a rough dry. Since it was 6, which was closing time the instructor stepped in to "rough dry" my hair. There was no product and they did a few passes. I left with my hair about 90% wet. I was shocked that they allowed me to leave the appointment in that condition. Not until I went home and fully dried my hair was when I noticed that my hair cut was uneven. My original 1 PM appointment didn't end until around 6:15 PM. I later emailed them about the experience and, after escalating it with multiple people, they brought me back 2 days later for a correction appointment, which took about 3 hours. I'm still not fully happy with the result, but it will have to do for now while my hair recovers from being processed twice within 48 hours. Overall, I would strongly advise having very low expectations. I would not recommend getting your hair colored here. A simple trim might be okay, but even that feels like a gamble depending on who you get.

Amanda greeted me right away and started getting information on what I was looking for, what machine I have currently, aspects of my house layout that might impact my decision, etc. My own research on what to get next led me to SEBO, and Amanda demo'd both the Felix (which is what I was originally thinking would be a good fit) and the E3 (which ended up being a better fit and what I ended up going with). The E3 has been amazing. It doesn't try to sell you with all kinds of gimmicky technology, sensors, systems, etc. It has just enough to make sure I am at the right brush height, don't have anything stuck, and can alert me to when the bag needs changing. The SEBO does as well in one pass as the Shark would do only after I took a rubber broom to loosen up all the embedded dog hair, and it can get all the way under furniture my Shark had no chance to get under because it can lay practically flat. And the kicker? It's even quieter than the Shark. I never thought I'd be spending four-digits on a vacuum cleaner but, like with my Herman Miller office chair, this is one of those buy once, cry once kind of things (or at least buy once every decade or more kind of things).
