"My off-road trailer modification" I've been looking since…read more2012 for someone & found a total of 4 people who supposedly could do the job of building me a multi-purpose trailer capable of going off road with independent axles, 35 inch tires, to be pulled by a 4 x 4 Jeep for wilderness camping. The first 3 FAILED! Until in 2025! My trailer needs to be able to withstand the off road stress without falling apart. It needs to also be used to load a lawnmower, atv, firewood logs or furniture etc., basically I needed to fabricate a multi purpose trailer to meet a variety of my needs. I also had many obstacles in my search, as I needed to be able to describe my ideas without knowing the appropriate words/lingo in the world of welding fabrication with electrical features such as winch, brakes attached to Jeep, 360 degrees of lighting with extra lighting when backing up in the darkness in the woods. Also, add my special order trailer hitch from Australia. This trailer must be old people friendly so that I could climb on any side, pickup the heavy a$& ramp (I have a bad back) easily and have a flat deck with pop up tie downs so I won't trip in the dark while walking on it. It also needed to be painted professionally. The last requirement was that even with this extra weight, the trailer can weigh no more than 1,000-1,500lbs. I finally found "The Man" who could accomplish & did so! His name is Allen Collin and he works at DL, Trucks & Trailer Outfitters in Cabot. He listened to my ideas & made it all HAPPEN! Wasted 3 hours of my time. I had communicated with Shawn over several days about a 7x16TA Enclosed…read moretrailer. It was a repo with some damage and a flat tire. I texted and informed him that I would try to get up to Searcy the next morning to look at the trailer. I specifically asked if the flat would be fixed first thing in morning and materials out of it so that if I liked it I could take it then as I had a busy day and could not wait around for the tire to get fixed. He texted me back "yes" that it would be ready. Upon getting to the lot around 11am (over an hour drive) we found that the trailer was on jacks, the tire was off, and Shawn had went to the Dexter Missouri office. The guys onsite had no idea when he would be back to fix the tire. We asked to see inside and they could not get the side door open as it was locked and they did not have a key (repo). Where the trailer was parked to repair the flat they could not lower the ramp. Thus, not only was the tire not fixed, we could not even see inside. Nor had he ever indicated that they did not have a key for the RV latch which would need replaced. So between the drive up, time on site, and drive back I lost over 3 hours for nothing. Clearly not a company I would do business with. I am traveling back and forth to the Ft Worth area and I can get a new 7x16TA Snapper trailer in Hillsboro, TX for $5,600 when Silverline wanted well over $7k new. Both trailers are made in South Georgia + shipping. I'll go with new.
