When I reserved my time online, I typed in my email address incorrectly, so they called and let me know. I appreciated the reminder. When I met my therapist the first time, Michelle, she asked which part of my body needs attention, then had me stood up to check on my posture and providing feedback. The evaluation was very short, so she could start working on me. Once I was on the massage table, Michelle started working, her voice was calm while guiding me to take deep breathes. She made very little conversation during the session so I can relax, but she did point out on the major issue on my body that is causing problems, so I can notice. Michelle's massage technic was exceptional, very solidly strong but gentle, not the kind that dig into the muscles causing pain, her pressure was very consistent throughout the session. She used forearm pressure instead of the elbow to apply more pressure, I appreciated that because the pressure from the forearm is more gentle comparing to sharp pressure from elbow. Michelle used very little oil so I wasn't all greased up at the end. She had a good playlist with more loungey Jazz lo-beat music than those water running zen music makes me wana go pee all the time. It's best to call the clinic to make reservation if you like to book with Michelle, since her schedule changes. The receptionist was very helpful when booking my next appointment. I look forward to my next session.

Does anyone remember when this was a creepy sex shop with blacked out windows?…read more It's now home to a different type of writhing and many an "oh!" face: RMTs, the nicest people you will ever pay to physically hurt you. I went running three days ago and managed to do something ridiculous to my foot. Because i'm an idiot, I ignored it and went dancing... in heels. Not my proudest moment. You already know the ending: I woke up the next day and come hell or high water, could not stand on my sore foot for more then a few minutes. Enter two excruciatingly boring days on the couch before I called in some outside help. Here's what I know: I picked this place based on the close proximity to my house. All the good stuff is just bonus to the fact that I can be here and face planted on a table within 4 minutes flat. 1. I went online and booked same day, with an hour lead time. 2. It was $60 (tax in) for a 30 minute massage - which isn't "woo woo!" but it's standard. 3. After thirty minutes where Rick pulled, smushed and wiggled some things around (technical terms), and then took the time to grab the ol' text book for a quick knowledge session when I asked how he managed to poke my foot and make my shoulders quake (it was awesome), I left. The only reason ALL of this is awesome: I can stand! On TWO feet! My foot is still sore, but it's dull enough that I can once again resume being a functioning member of society. It's enough that I forgive them for calling themselves Mount Pleasant Massage when they are clearly in Riley Park. Respect the home turf guys! (I jest.) 30 minutes and I CAN do a happy dance again. Enough said.

I got over it since it was so close to home due to the great online booking tool which was very convenient and they were open on Saturdays, bonus! I was looking forward to getting my treatment started. I selected a random therapist from their list. First impression: Clean and bright. No one was at the front desk. I arrived 10 min early as their website suggested for new patients. I waited a bit and finally someone came out, he gave me the new patient form to fill in and was very nice and friendly. However, it turns out he is one of the therapists because his patient soon came in and he left to treat her. After that there was no one else at the front, just me sitting there waiting. Several people came in during this time and waited for someone and a few eventually left. During my wait various therapists came out with their patients post treatment and processed their own payments. I think a receptionist would have been helpful. My appointment was booked for 60 min and my therapist was running 15 min late by the time she came out with her patient. After their chit chat and payment processing it was closer to 20 min into my appointment before she acknowledged me and said sorry, she was running a bit late...including the 10 min early arrival I had been waiting for 30 min! Overall treatment was okay. I have had better. Unfortunately, the first impressions will not have me going back.

On Dec.16, my partner received a cancellation email and voice message just ONE hour before the…read moreappointment saying the massage therapist was sick. The receptionist proposed a rescheduled date, but it didn't work for my partner. Rather than try to find a solution that would work, she opted to forego any attempt at customer service and simply said "there is nothing we can do." When my partner again tried to find a reasonable solution, the receptionist lacked the training or ability to deal with situation in a mature way, and chose to hang up mid-call. To call such action unprofessional would be an understatement. The reason to cancel the appoint is totally understandable, but a qualified receptionist with even the most basic customer service skills would attempt to come up with a feasible alternative to suit the customer, especially since there would have been an $80+GST cancelling fee if my partner would have been the one who had cancelled. Any professional organization that has high standards for their customers should also have high standards for themselves, but sadly, those standards seemed nonexistent. So one star for the unprofessional customer service, and hopefully the staff will receive the basic training required to engage with customers in a professional manner in the future. I have a coming appointment on 18th, hopefully they won't cancel it before the last minute. I will leave another comment after that. ---------------------------------------------------- Dec.17 update Yesterday I confirmed my booking politely through the phone, and this morning I also received the confirmation email. However, I received the cancellation email later afternoon, 24 hours before the appointment. I was expecting they may prove themselves by providing great service this time. But in fact, they just proved how unprofessional they are instead AGAIN.

She started understanding my health condition with a lot of good question and check my pulse and everything. Then she started my treatment with deep pressure points that was the best part of my treatment and then use the needles. I never had an acupuncture that takes time to really understand your body and never rush the treatment like Joanne. I felt really good instantly after and have booked her again and again. I highly recommend Joanne for your acupuncture needs!

The clinic was new and was clean and tidy and I liked the convenient online booking process which sent me a reminder text the day before. The only reason for a 3 star review (otherwise would have been 4 stars) is that my time was cut short a little over 5 mins I did get there early but the massage still started a bit late, and ended a bit early. Not a huge deal but sometimes with massages, just getting the exact time you're allotted is a bit of a minimum expectation.
