If you are looking for a registered massage therapist in order to get medical insurance coverage and reimbursement Oceana has limited options. Of their 7 therapists, only 1 is an RMT. Their certified bodyworkers charge the same rates as register massage therapist - $150 for 75 mins, $125 for 60 min massage. Normally certified bodyworkers at other establishments charge $80-$100 an hour. Example: Barefoot Oasis Spa 1 block away only charges $80 an hour. So while they are clean and professional, my qualm is that they are way over priced for bodywork service they provide. Tip: Make sure you shop around on price and quality. read more

I've gone to Oceana and booked in to see an RMT when I was having shoulder issues - 60 minutes focused on my shoulder with pressure that had me gritting my teeth (the RMT did check in regularly on my pain tolerance) and voila - the next day I could move pain free! I've been several times to see a Bodyworker when I was just needing to de-stress and the experience was like floating. A full body blissful massage. I am a chiropractor, so I've been to many different massage therapists and tried a plethora of different massage techniques. That's why I'm a bit surprised to say that both Susan and Nichole are both fabulous! They have similar strengths: that is, they seem to intuitively know how much pressure to use - when to dig deeper, and when to back off. This is a difficult skill to master! Susan seems to prefer to work and talk at the same time (which is totally okay - she always has good things to say), whereas Nichole is a bit quieter through our sessions (totally okay, too - she must be focusing on the trouble spots). The only down-side I can report is that you might not like to wait outside the office for your turn (as there is only one room/massage table inside). However, it's never long before I forget all about the wait and melt into a relaxed ball of bliss. I talk about Oceana massage with my patients all the time, and whenever they grumble that it's too far from my office, I remind them that it's the only massage therapy studio that I now use. WOW. That is the only word to describe how amazing this place is. I have been looking for a place like this since I moved to Vancouver three years ago. So happy I decided to try this one out. I got a classic full body massage for 75 minutes and I felt so energized afterwards. I do a lot of my work at a computer and had a lot of kinks that Susan worked out no problem. I've dealt with a very difficult year that's taken a big physical toll on me: - editor so I'm in front of a computer 12-16 hrs a day - little sleep - experienced the worst breakup of my life and have been dealing with emotional extremes But all of this melted away in a single Classic 1hr 15min session. I've been here twice to see Susan for my much needed prenatal massage and she is wonderful. For the two times that I've seen her, I felt completely relaxed and zen after each visit. I was so happy to have found her that I purchased a package of 10 massages so I will be seeing her for some time to come. Don't let the older building and creaky elevator dissuade you, once you get to actual unit and enter Glow's premises all is spa-like and calm. First time having a massage, my body was feeling really tense and in pain from training and working out 5x a week, I booked my massage with Rachel and right from the get go I felt comfortable, she's highly educated in what she does and taught me so much in terms of relaxing my muscles and what I should to help release tension, as for the massage! Matty gave me a great massage today, mostly for relaxation, but also focused on a neck and shoulder issue. Great pressure and my neck already feels looser. The only issue I have is with the price. It's pretty expensive, especially when you get a certified therapist and not a registered therapist and can't claim on your health fund. Just something to watch out for when you book. I was having neck and shoulder stiffness from sleeping on my side (yay 2nd trimester!) and sought out a Prenatal Massage treatment. Rachel applied just the right amount of pressure and asked the right questions. The prenatal pillows let me lie down on my front which I haven't done in months! I had a great massage with Shelby a couple of days ago. She had the perfect amount of pressure and really relaxed me. I too regret not booking a longer massage (as some of the other reviewers have said). The building is a beautiful old-school vintage piece of architecture from another era and the rooms are beautifully decorated. One complaint is that a garbage truck rolled up in the alleyway next to the space and sat there with the diesel engine running for like ten minutes (making beeping noises when backing up etc). Susan is great with relaxation massages as well as deeper tissue sports massage; which can be pretty intense. Every time I leave - I feel totally rejuvenated. I went there a while ago and thought the massage was ok but I would advise anyone who has health issues/is pregnant not to go to Susan, she doesn't know what she's doing but charges the same rates as registered massage therapist. She isn't a registered massage therapist! Yes, it says that on the website that she's not but people may just go with the YELP reviews. If you want a proper message go to a RMT who is TRAINED. Without a doubt the best massage I have ever had! Susan's prenatal massage made me feel totally de-knotted, de-stressed, stretched, massaged and totally pampered so that I left walking on a cloud. Not easy at nearly 41 weeks pregnant. Went to see Susan 10 days post surgery. I had lipo suction done to my full abdomen and back and developed scar tissue and bumps . Susan knew exactly how to treat my issue and worked on getting the bumps out of my abdomen while also doing lymphatic drainage which got rid of my swelling. She is very knowledgable about what technique works best for different issues. She also gave me great dietary recommendations to prevent and aid my swelling . I have already done 2 90 minute massages with her and am already feeling way less stiff. I recommend everyone who has excess swelling from plastic surgery to go see her, as she has a lot of experience in this field. read more

Horrible service definately not professional , the massage was poor and not therapeutic whatsoever but charges more than a RMT !!! ... My first massage at this place , the room was extremely cold , massage girl could of showed up early for apt and warmed up the room ? just a thought she was 10 mins late for my appointment time, , loud noises from tenant next door thru the whole session , massage service was horrible and very unprofessional conduct. , the massage girl smelt like hangover booze , not a pleasant smell for my relaxing apt, ? how much more can i say ? they charged me the same as a rmt massage !!?? and this was not even close to any professional treatment, i asked for a full refund and was refused they would not refund at all, ... totally dishonest and karma will happen, this is not at all good business practice , absolutely nightmare! these are not professional massage therapist!!!! just girls doing massage and not even close to a good massage .. never will go back and will not refer anyone to this place. read more
