It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!

It was really just an awesome experience period. We started with their pakora/samosa starter, which were fried perfectly and had very good chutneys, then we did one veg and one non-veg thali, all dishes in both were fantastic. The restaurant has a nice modern Indian vibe, clean and well maintained. Highly recommend if you're in Montreal and craving Indian!

I didn't expect much of it at all and had only wanted to fill my belly. Little did I know, but I had the BEST butter chicken ever!!!! I'm usually quite picky when it comes to butter chicken as I usually find most plates quite spicy/too sour/not creamy enough/or is seasoned with too much spice. The butter chicken here is simply amazing! It fits all my criteria- it offers a hint of spiciness to kick off my taste buds, it's creamy and it's rich in flavour. Most of all, it's affordable (for only $8!) and comes in a perfect ratio of rice, butter chicken and naan. It was so simple and so delicious. Definitely will return for the butter chicken and will try everything else on the menu!

The waiter let us know that since it was close to closing, they would only make us tofu, not the chicken substitute. Disapponting, but we understood. The lassis came out and they were by far the best mango lassis I had ever had. So favourfu ad vibrant! The dishes arrived and all the sauces were divine! We all sampled each other's and were very happy. The tofu, however, was underwhelming. They did nothing to it, just added it to the lovely sauce. It wasn't seasoned or marinated, it was very gelatinous, which wasn't appetizing (especially for non-vegans, which two of us are, who are not used to that, but happy to try it). The place is small and charming, and the food came out quickly, and fresh. Minus points because the bathroom was actually quite dirty and needs a realy good scrub and a coat of paint.
