Our experience with meg had a mix of really positive moments and some challenges along the way. In the beginning, she was warm, responsive, and extremely helpful as we started planning. Looking back, we felt that the middle portion of planning was quieter than expected, with long stretches of minimal communication or updates. Because of that, we honestly think couples who prefer lighter involvement might have a better experience with her "month-of" package, since that seems to align more naturally with the areas where she was the most active and present. As we approached the final stretch, things became a bit more stressful. The timeline was finalized later than expected and included several mistakes, which made us feel uneasy heading into the wedding week. At the rehearsal, it felt like some key details we had clarified earlier didn't fully carry over, leading to some confusion. We also often felt like our requests were met with hesitation rather than collaboration or compromise, which added to the pressure of those final days. Instead of a "that sounds great, let's see how we can make that work!", a lot of our ideas were met with a "here's what I think we should do instead." With our package, she does have a full google sheets planner, that you are responsible for filling out (understandably so). However, it felt as though these were prioritized over actual communication. For this reason, looking back I think the 'month-of' contract would've been maybe a better fit and a planner guide could be purchased on etsy. All of that said, we want to acknowledge that on the actual wedding day, she was very helpful and very present, and we ended up having a truly beautiful wedding. We're grateful for the effort she put in, especially early on, and we know she has strengths that many couples will appreciate. With more consistent communication throughout the full planning period, a bit more attention to detail in the end stages, and appreciating and compromising on the couples ideas, we think future clients could have a better experience. read more

Meg was extremely difficult to work with. She doesn't let you finish a sentence. She would get upset that we would stop her mid sentence because she was not hearing what we wanted or said. It's been over a year since our wedding with Meg and we only grow more and more grateful for her and her team as time goes on! We have been to several weddings since and are so happy to report that not once has something come up where we think "we should've done this better at our wedding." We did the middle package with Meg which was perfect for us. I definitely wanted to play an active role in the planning so this worked out well for us. Meg was always there to send us off in the right direction and get us a head start. She didn't do everything for us (as expected) but having her to promptly answer and questions and bounce ideas back and forth with saved us a ton of time! For reference, we had a substantial part in the day-to-day planning while both working full-time and attending school full-time. So it's a lot of work but totally doable if you stay organized and manage your time properly! My wife and I strongly caution you against hiring Meg Herzer. We do not usually take the time to write Yelp reviews, despite using the site often. But after our experience working with Meg, we felt implored to warn people to stay far, far away from her. For the love of God, do not hire her. We wouldn't wish our wedding planning experience with Meg on our worst enemy. Meg did not listen to anything we wanted for our wedding. Time after time, call after call, she consistently tried to talk us into HER vision for our wedding. She had no interest in helping us achieve what we wanted. When we would push her for more vendor recommendations, for better communication, for reminders on payment deadlines, for facilitating our booked vendors, for more accountability for her ineptitude, she would throw the blame back on us. She gaslit us time and time again, rather than admit she dropped the ball on many occasions. She then tried to tell us we didn't pay for the package that would require her to do her job for us... Three weeks before our wedding, we couldn't get in touch with Meg. We tried calling her, emailing her, but she was MIA. When she finally did get back to us, she revealed she was having a baby next week! We had no idea when we hired her that she was even pregnant. And now she was telling us she would be out of commission for a while... TO BE WITH HER BABY. THAT WE HAD NO IDEA EXISTED. We're not faulting Meg for being a mother. Far from it. That's an amazing thing. We're faulting her for agreeing to plan our wedding when she knew the birth of her child would coincide with our most intense wedding planning phase! AND for not telling us about it! It was gross negligence on her part, and it was downright ridiculous to put us (and herself) in that compromised position. All of those negatives aside, we hoped beyond hope that Meg would rally on our wedding day. She owed us that, at the very least. That was a foolish dream. Meg was, again, MIA on our big day. She was at the venue, but didn't communicate with us, our families, or wedding party at all throughout the day. Her assistants were equally inept, dismissive, and rude to our families and guests. I had to wrangle my entire family for the photographers to get the photos we wanted, since Meg and her assistants were nowhere to be found. I had to tell Meg to gather all of our wedding party to tell them how to walk in for the ceremony, 30 minutes before we were set to start! Meg did not remove any stress from the wedding planning process. In fact, she did just the opposite. She added to our stress exponentially. We had to manage her and do her job for her, while being gaslit that we were the ones in the wrong. In spite of how awful Meg was, my wife and I had an amazing wedding. It was due to our own hard work, prep, and planning. Hiring Meg was the worst decision we made about our wedding. We were initially fooled, since she had experience at our venue, but we quickly realized that working with her was going to be an uphill battle. We just didn't realize it would be Mt. Everest. Even 6 months after our big day, we are still SO thankful for all the hard work Meg & her team went into making our wedding perfect. Since my husband and I both have very demanding jobs and live in the Bay Area (while trying to plan a wedding at Saddlerock in Malibu), and we had a ton of family & friends which blossomed into a 250 guest wedding, we ended up booking the full service planning/design package, and we are so happy we did! Meg was able to magically coordinate all our vendor meetings into 2 consolidated trips to LA, and whatever wasn't figured out then, was discussed in our infinite (and infinitely helpful) chain of emails & Skype/phone chats during the year before the wedding! She pointed us toward amazing vendors who we wouldn't have otherwise found (we were especially thrilled with our DJ, florist, and videographer), and made sure to offer a variety of price points for each option. Meg, Mary and their team were exceptional! Of all the things we were thankful for on our wedding day, hiring Meg was at the top of our list! Meg was our week of coordinator, but really started coming in to help earlier than that. Four stars because it was very pretty and Meg seems capable and calm. However, one of her staff was VERY insensitive and had a bad attitude to guests (including the grandmother and aunt of the bride) and was not at all good at managing her job. When asked a simple question, she answered sharply, as if we weren't completely aware as to how many people were there! She was arrogant and snippy and offended more than one person and was not gracious the entire reception. Other staffers were professional, but I wouldn't say they were warm. Many moments during the day of and the set up before, bridesmaids, the groom and the mother of the bride all mentioned how it seemed that there was no guidance as to the timeline. I think if you want a coordinator, you want someone to be the leader, not just someone who handles only her people. Maybe not? In a nutshell, I think this group can only handle a smaller event. All of their problems became clear relative to the size of the event and the details that failed had to be externally supported related to that issue. I got married in Santa Barbara nearly a year ago now...needless to say, this review is long overdue! I am still so thankful for Meg, Noel, and the rest of the team for putting together a beautiful wedding that was so seamless. We could not have asked for any better! When we began the planning process, my (now) husband and I were looking for someone who could take the reigns, so we decided on the partial package. We had already decided on a venue and photographer, but I wish we had found M and M sooner, because it would have made that process so much easier! I tend to get overwhelmed with minutiae and can become paralyzed when too many options are presented. Meg was fantastic at helping to narrow things down for us. M and M provided us with a short list of recommended vendors so that we didn't have to constantly sift through numerous websites and reviews, only to then have to play phone/email tag with each one. Not only were their recommendations well qualified, but the list appeared to have a range of prices to choose from. Meg and Noel were also extremely responsive (both by email and phone), and I always felt better after having talked with them. I can't think of any better way to describe it, so I will just say this: Meg is the fairy god sister everyone wishes they had growing up. After reading Cindy P's review, I'm simply just going to piggyback her glowing review. "Never once felt the need to walk into the reception area to make sure all the items I gave her were where I wanted them." -- FACT "When she needed my husband and I to be somewhere for a scheduled event (garter, bouquet, cake, etc) she definitely came to find us, but she never became pushy or intrusive. If we were in the middle of a conversation with someone, she would patiently wait and do her best to let us finish. She would simply and lightly place her hand on our arm, shoulder etc to discreetly let us know it was time to move on." -- FACT "When the night was over, all of my personal things from the sweetheart table, the photo and the bridal suite were completely packed up..." -- FACT I copied the above statements from Cindy P's review because Meg did exactly these things and more. When you read that Meg goes "above and beyond", this is true. When my wife and I were taking a short break between the ceremony & the reception to grab some things from our hotel room, I went in to find our room was cleaned and Meg had left a bottle of champagne (which we quickly guzzled haha). Literally, the transition from the church ceremony to the reception was FLAWLESS. Never once did my wife and I ever wonder what was going on, who was wHere, what was next. There were no hiccups or bumps in the road and if there was, my wife and I certainly didn't know about it. My vendors were VERY impressed with her timeline guide she provided them for the order of events for the reception. I could honestly write so much more about Meg, but hey, I'm a guy and I like to keep things short (and my attention span won't let me continue). We booked Events by M and M for Week of/Day of Coordination services. Easily one of the best choices I made during my wedding planning process! Meg and Mary were super helpful and super sweet and Meg made me feel so comfortable and was very tolerant of my quirkiness! They helped me stay organized and focused, and talked me through all the little details that I wasn't sure of! We started planning our wedding like any other couple would, throwing every half-composed idea at wedding planners in hopes that they could bridge the gap between my ramblings and an overloaded Pinterest board. I knew I wanted it to have a very relaxed romantic feel without seeming too uptight. We had picked a gorgeous winery as our venue and I knew it could embody both of our wants. After interviewing with Meg I instantly clicked with her "get-it-done" personality and humor! It was only a few conversations with my parents, and we began our 7-month planning journey! Now, seven months isn't a lot of time in the wedding planning world but, Meg and her team absolutely nailed every vision, vendor, and walk through. Her design board checked off every "want" and provided options within our budget without every sacrificing the experience. It was the easiest and most enjoyable event process I have ever been a part of even with some type of meeting or walk through happening back to back. I knew Meg was executing every detail as her and her team kept me in the loop with where we were at in processes and answered any random question I had without having to wait. My fiancé and family were all very excited about the big day and could not wait to see what our vendors had dreamt up in person. Unfortunately, the unthinkable happened. We had arrived the Thursday before our wedding, just as the fires struck Malibu. Friday morning, I was trying to keep my calm and without hesitating Meg immediately called me and started working with vendors to secure a game plan to make the day come together despite the road closures and air conditions. A few hours later, while watching the news from our hotel surrounded by smoke, I saw a reporter in front of my venue with flames behind him. Everyone expected me to be a total mess but, it was my faith in Meg and her stellar team that kept me so calm. In the matter of half a working day, with no WiFi, she had found a new venue, secured new vendors, and assisted in signing new contracts and getting memos out to our guests all before dinner. I didn't get a rehearsal, I never got to say "I do" where I had envisioned I would. But I wouldn't change anything that happened that weekend. The day was absolutely gorgeous and filled with more love than it would have originally been, I think. I owe all of my memories, peace, and happiness from that weekend to Meg and her team. Meg was our event coordinator at our wedding last weekend at Sherwood Country Club. She did an amazing job! We could not have asked for the night to go any smoother. I had a candy bar set up and she even brought in some of her own stands to make it look fantastic. Throughout the whole evening, she made sure I was okay and at the end, everything was all packed up and loaded into our car. I didn't even notice when all of that was taking place. The tool on my dress started to unravel so I went into the bridal suite to figure out how to fix it and she came to the rescue pinning it up. She is super organized and has a cheery personality. My husband was really impressed with everything she did and even commented a few times after the wedding how she went above and beyond the duties of a coordinator.
