In the Royal Arcade, Evans offers old fashioned service in one of the lost lovely shoe repair stores I've even seen. It's really well presented, with a spiral staircase leading upstairs to the workshop and the downstairs space filled with draws and various bits and bobs to make your shoes and leather products look their best.
I've been on two occasions now, the first for leather protector for a new handbag and the second time to get a topi and heel put on to some leather loafers. The shoes came back looking great and the new soles made them very comfortable and less slippery. I can tell the addition of the rubber topi and heel will give me longer wear time.
Take note, such high quality product comes with a price tag. It's worth it to get loads of extra wear out of your shoes but don't think it's a cheap endeavour. $80 is what it cost me, which I admit at the time was a bit of an "ouch" moment, but now I'm grateful to have spent a bit more for high quality workmanship. read more
