My wife and I just moved to Star from Orange County, CA. We are in a new development, with…read moreconstruction going on around us, and noticed a number of spiders in and around our home. We had maintenance pest control at our home in CA, and we knew that we wanted it for our home in Star. I solicited a few estimates from local companies. Prices for the service were about the same, though one company recommended an initial treatment, a follow-up treatment 30 days later, and every two months from then on, for a total of 7 treatment in the first year, for a total annual cost of $880. They claimed that, since we lived close to the Boise River, we would really need extra protection from bugs and critters. In contrast, Phil from Custom Care recommended quarterly service, stating the they could always go to every other month if needed. I liked this approach better. I didn't feel like they were going for my pocketbook. Total annual cost the first year: $520. Aaron, the technician, contacted me right away and set up and appointment for the following week. He showed up as scheduled, explained his process, and went right to work. This included interior and exterior treatment, and he even set some mousetraps in the garage, saying that with the construction going on around us, this would be extra protection. I appreciated that. Disappointing service and an unprofessional cancellation experience…read more I've been an ExoPest customer since March 2026. The service started out fine, but I wasn't told at sign-up that treatments happen only once a quarter while billing is monthly. When I tried to contact customer service about this, I couldn't reach anyone. I eventually left a message, and the owner called me back. He explained the billing, told me they're happy to come back between scheduled visits whenever needed, and persuaded me to stay. At our September service, the technician said he would treat our fly problem, but nothing was done. When I called to request a follow-up visit, I also decided to close my account. Customer service told me "the office" would call me back. When the owner called, he repeatedly asked why I wanted to cancel. I gave him several reasons and asked him to simply process the cancellation. He warned me there would be a "hefty fee" but kept interrupting me when I asked how much it was. When he finally told me it was $123, I agreed to pay it and asked for written confirmation that my account was closed. He hung up on me. I read my agreement and accept the cancellation fee. My concern is how I was treated. A customer who wants to leave deserves a clear answer, a respectful conversation, and written confirmation, not pressure and a hang-up. I hope ExoPest uses this feedback to improve how it treats its customers.
