The service was friendly and the food came out quick, I got the Cinco de Mayo plate, which came with a soup (vegetarian chili), and it was incredibly filling, tasted fresh, and was super great value ($15). I was looking for a quick, healthy bite while out on a date with my mom. She is very particular and while this place is no frills (don't expect any real ambiance) the food was FANTASTIC. She got a steak bowl and I got the chicken cinco de mayo bowl. We shared and both were equally delicious. They gave us mini-carrot cake protein muffins with our meals and we loved them so much we bought a bunch on our way out to share. Would definitely return if I was in the area. P.S. Ordered the Chicken Tinga Tacos (3 for $15.81) from here - liked how you got to choose either the corn/flour/whole wheat tortillas or a hard corn shell. You also get to choose your toppings - I chose the Everything (A [cilantro & onion] & B [lettuce, tomatoes and cotija powder cheese] with guacamole and sour cream). I also ordered the Guacamole & Chips ($5.31) and Salsa ($2.47). The tacos came stuffed with toppings how I like it! They did forget my addition of fresh jalapenos that I paid extra for however. The chicken tinga was a bit too wet, so it was spilling everywhere and thus the whole wheat tortilla was a bit soggy on the bottom. The chips were standard, but I was disappointed with the guac and salsa. The guacamole seemed exactly like the kind you get pre-packaged on a grocery shelf - Chipotle's guacamole is more fresh made with real avocados, and this seemed like processed guac. Bless Eva's Kitchen! I discovered it through the little carrot muffin samples at the NYU gym 3 years ago and tried the restaurant because of an NYU discount, but I've never looked back since. I have to admit I didn't really like the inside at first, but it's grown on me. Supplement store in the back, healthy food focus first. I would now describe Eva's as down-to-earth and welcoming; I've interacted with a number of different Eva's employees, and they're all so nice. Food-wise, I've gotten a few falafel and chicken sandwiches before. Super filling, delicious, and again, healthy. One favorite of mine is Uncle Sloppy, because I love sweet potato fries. Plus the mini muffin always makes my day! As if it couldn't get any better, they have a 10% discount for NYU students and staff, use stamp cards, and constantly do other promotions with NYU either through Eva's new app or that I can through my email. Don't sleep on this place!! They even have free WiFi if you want to do work here, which I often do. Minor cons: the tables at time could be a bit cleaner. Sometimes my food takes a while to be ready (but most of time, it's fast enough.) The food is high quality and not loaded with oil and salt so you feel good after eating a meal here. The power plates are very generous portions and I almost always have leftovers. You really can't go wrong with what you order here. Eva's also is very generous with their side dressings/sauces and allow you to choice up to two with every entree. Most entrees come with a whole wheat pita as well. In addition to great quality, healthy food, Eva's almost always has a promo running which makes them one of the more affordable places around. I got their South American burrito bowl. It was an extra dollar compared to if you just got it as a burrito. They pack the bowl with fresh ingredients. There was great veggies and the guac was delicious. It was enough for two meals for sure! It was so much food. The only thing was the chicken was kind of dry and didn't have much flavor on its own. However I realized that is why they give you dressing on the side. The spicy sauce is free and they recommended the yogurt dressing for my particular bowl. Compared to most chain salad places, Eva's offers significantly more bang-for-your-buck as far as proteins and healthy toppings, I ordered the chicken with guacamole salad to-go, and was very pleased with what I walked away with. The chicken was extremely well-cooked -- not too dried out, and cut into large enough pieces that you actually felt like you were eating good, fresh meat, rather than just tiny pieces of super over-seasoned, chicken/protein that you would get at another salad place. There was also a generous scoop of guacamole, which would usually run you an extra $2 (maybe $3, based on the portion size) at a competing location. I was offered as many dressings as I pleased on the side -- the ginger carrot was phenomenal. When I'm craving something healthy, I will certainly be returning to Eva's for another salad.
