Although I posted a previous review, I wanted to add on after yet another stellar experience today…read morewith Betty and Vonetta (sp???). It's been a few years since my original review, during which time I've visited this shop quite a few times, each time after meeting my friend Liz, who lives in "The Valley," as it is our in-between spot. Liz always drags me into Yellow Dog, which I hate because I get in big trouble each and every time!!! Since I work at another clothing store which has some pretty awesome clothing too (Ron Herman), my closet is pretty much the envy of all my friends, and the last thing I need is to spend my hard-earned money on yet another item of clothing. Furthermore, I get a substantial discount at Ron Herman, and even a clothing allowance, so I am extremely loathe to spend full price on any item of clothing. And I almost never, ever do. Except at Yellow Dog. Which is why I want to kill Liz.
Yellow Dog is quite small, so you wouldn't think they'd have tons of great stuff. But you'd be wrong. The buyer (Betty, perhaps?) is a genius and has her/his finger on the pulse of what's hot, what's not, what's cool, what's not, what's chic, what's not. Everything I touch, I want to take home with me and stuff into my way-overcrowded closet. But I have to restrain myself, since, after all, I live on a retail clerk's salary.
Today Liz drags me in there again. I'm gritting my teeth, determined that this time she will not lead me into temptation, and I will resist. And I almost succeed!!! But what happens? I see the frickin' coolest pair of jeans by Current Elliott. Mind you, we have an amazing collection of denim at Ron Herman; the jeans buyer, Brian Kaneda, is a dear friend of mine, so I hope he never sees this review. BUT Kaneda (as we call him), why, oh WHY did you not buy these for our store, the greatest-looking pair of jeans I've seen since I fell for the Alice & Olivia ones Amal Clooney was sporting in Lago di Como...or was it Rome...or whatever other chic place she was photographed in??? For whatever reason, he didn't, and I was once again forced to fork over my hard-earned cash for a pair of (very) premium denim jeans, which I know I will once again get countless compliments on, as I do for every single thing I've ever bought in this wonderful, magical little shop.
Last but far from least....every time I've been in here, the staff have been just the nicest, friendliest, most charming and helpful staff anywhere. Betty, I think you're in charge. You're doing an amazing job, and it was such a great pleasure to meet you! Thank you so much for helping me today...although I really should be mad at you....and please, make sure to give your staff periodic raises. They so deserve it. Thanks and see you soon....if Liz has her way....though I'll be fighting her all the way!
