Beautiful well-made women's apparel. Elegant to casual. Not inexpensive. Minou has a great eye for matching the person to the style

This store has been in Agoura for over 30 years! Beautiful ladies fashions. It is a most for women and men looking for gifts.

I should mention right off the top I've never shopped at an actual M. Frederic store. Not the one…read morein the Valley or Calabasas or Long Beach or wherever. I'm familiar with the store. I just know if I go I'll lose my paycheck faster than I do at Whole Foods. Should mention I've never been to Barney's New York either (although I do want to go to their deli one of these days). Just the Barker Hanger sale. Well, M. Frederic does the same thing. Sort of. Instead of a two week event in a big airplane hanger, they do it in a series of tents at their offices which for some reason are in the middle of nowhere. The only way to really learn about these sales are through their e-mail blasts and after getting a few I decided it was about time I schlepped into nearly Ventura County to see if it was worth it. When I got there straight up at 8AM, there was already a line around the building. Parking was on a curb a couple of blocks away. They took a bunch of us in about 10-15 minutes later. Most of the people were from the Calabasas/Agoura/Westlake area but I did talk to some people who came from Long Beach and West LA. And there was a lot to look at. Especially for women's apparel which obviously doesn't interest me. I''d say there was a 5-1 ratio of womens vs. mens apparel. Obviously, since they do have a men's store over at the Commons, I'd like to see that ratio change. The big deal with this sale was that everything was priced at 20 bucks or below. That's right. 20 bucks for clothes that cost upwards of 100 bucks or more. And while by the time I got in all the Ed Hardy stuff was gone there was still plenty of shirts to pick from and I grabbed two t's and two dress shirts for 75 bucks total. Considering I probably would have to pay that amount for just one dress shirt at the Barney's sale I would have to consider this a huge bargain! Like the Barney's sale, there's no dressing rooms. So it's interesting to watch all the women take off their clothes to try on stuff. Almost like going to Spearmint Rhino at 8AM with no cover! Well, not exactly....but considering California's strip club laws, this might be more revealing. When you check out, they have someone who counts your clothes (what is this? Sesame Street? I was expecting the 'Count' to show up in all his muppet glory!) and then they give you the bill. Yes, you can pay with plastic! They also give you a deal where whatever you paid for sales tax at the sale can go towards a discount that day on the expensive stuff at a retail M. Frederic store. Now this $20 sale was a one time deal for now. But they do a couple of these deep discount sales a year and I would definitely go back although next time I'd at least try to show up by 7:30 to get the good stuff before it disappears. My only big worry is that right now, it's a small sale by comparison to the number of folk who go to the Barney's sale. Now that I'm Yelping it, I figure it's going to get gigantic real fast!

So I just got back from the Dorothy Sale, and I have to say, it wasn't all that I expected…read more HOWEVER. I did manage to snag the BEST deal of my LIFE at the last second in the "damaged room." First of all, the majority of the clothes for women are tank tops, sweaters, tshirts and the like...with only a small selection of pants, and most of them being either slacks or sweats...not a lot of jeans. Everything was kind of MEH--cute but not cute enough to buy. There looks to be a pretty good selection of kids clothing. The men's section made me jealous; I saw a lot more brand names there than in the women's...also they had like a whole rack of True Religion men's jeans which is totally unfair...haha. I was just about to leave empty handed when I spotted the "damaged" section room and thought I'd give it a quick perusing, not expecting to find much. HOWEVER. The first thing I pulled out of the highly messy, disorganized bins were a pair of beautiful True Religion jeans, my size, with a small tear that could easily be repaired and blended in with the faded look of the jeans. I paid a whopping 25 BUCKS for these beauties....WOW. They retailed at $319, so you can imagine my sheer delight at this find =] Just because of this last minute find, I will be BACK. Oh, and I suggest going right as they open...I got there about an hour after opening, and I saw some people in line to pay with a lot nicer stuff than the majority of clothes that were displayed. I think they hide all the good finds mixed in with the so-so stuff as like a treasure hunt for the brand crazed of the world.... All in all, not too shabby, good prices, but mostly not enough to make you fall in love.
