We had a great experience with this place. My husband and I…read morestopped for the day in Florence on our way to Rome and we wanted to leave our luggages somewhere while we explored the city. I was afraid that my big luggage wasn't going to fit but the space was huge! I did have to reserve two lockers to leave our other small luggage and back packs. It was a relieve though that they have so much room. I swear it doesn't seem like it but my big luggage fit with room to spare. Many reviews recommend to reserve ahead of time. I didn't just because again, I wasn't sure if it was going to fit. We got lucky and we were able to get two lockers without problems. I saw more people coming in and they were also able to reserved one. My advise though is that during high seasons you do reserve the lockers you would need online. Last but not least and super important, do not throw away the receipt. It has the code to open the locker. This might sound funny because it is common sense you would think. However, I saw a group of people who threw away their receipt with the code and they couldn't open it. They kept calling the help button but no one was picking up. Don't be one of those people who messed up and later on blame it on the company for "not picking up." Your receipt, you valuables, your responsibility :)

******************…read more I AM SO SORRY. The bad review below was for the Wrong place! This review below is meant for hotel baccio or whatever, the hotel right next to this shop, which I was originally looking for. Please guys don't mistake Stow your bags for another place like I did. I'll leave this review on to warn people to make sure to come to the right place. Okay, Italy was perfect until I got to this place. This man. The man that took my bags has got to be or to work for one of the meanest, pettiest people I have ever come to meet. So Florence was cold when I arrived right? So I wanted to change into longer pants before I stored my bags and I asked the employee if I could use the bathroom. "No! Not possible." He said it so aggressively I literally thought he was joking, laughed, and asked, "okay, seriously." "Not possible!!" he snarled like he was defending his daughter's virginity. Next a misunderstanding occurred. He said, "if you take something from the bar, you can use the restroom." But he said it in such broken English and so aggressively, that I thought he said, "if you use restroom, you might take from the bar." (Stealing) So I get upset and a shouting match occurs that ends with me deescalating it with sarcastic compliance. He apologizes and said, "look, I don't make the rules, I don't own the place." He then flipped a sign around that reads, "no WiFi, no bathroom" for guests. The pettiness is laughable. Learn generosity dude Also, when the guy took my bags, he did not put it in a secure room with locks! He put it in a small, sectioned off lobby that could easily be accessed by anyone in that lobby. The guy has to just go for a break and the bags would be fully exposed. Anyways, that bar the guy was talking about? Was a cafe independent from the hotel. Tinos. I ended up having breakfast there . They are the only people in Florence that smiled.

In a different country too! Unless you know Tuscany yourself, sit back and enjoy the rides. Okay so the bus ride wasn't the most comfortable, as Americans need HUGE seats with power ports, etc. and cart service with snacks. Fun fact: they're driving manual transmission buses. OOOOORRRRR you can try to blend and deal with the hour or two long bus ride without plugging in your devices. It's not that bad.

When my sister-in-law asked to do a tour of Lake Como, Bellagio and Lugano, Switzerland from Milan,…read morethis looked like a perfect fit. A bus ride to Como with guided tours and two boat rides on Lake Como. Plus, a discount for booking early. Count me in! When we arrived at the pickup spot by 7:40 as instructed, there were a lot of buses, but there was no guide and no labels on our tour bus. Spoke to the tour bus driver who confirmed that we were in the right spot but had to wait for the tour guide who was running late. The driver was amazing! When the tour guide Luigi (GG) finally arrived, he seemed confused. Was this his tour? He fidgeted with his information. As our party of five was first in line next to the bus door, we watched and heard everything. As this chaos was happening, a young man slid through the eager crowd. We thought that he was trying to cut in front of us, but he was actually delivering a bag filled with what looked like green earpieces that were promised in the details of the tour. They stayed in the bag the entire 11 hours and were never used. Apparently, GG never uses headsets. After a lengthy delay, GG finally found his list. He roll-called guests. People answered, but did not move until he explained. I call your name. You get on the bus. So much for getting a seat near the front, but I felt worse for a lady who was told to give up her window seat to accommodate a couple that arrived quite late for the tour. He also did not know if the WC on the bus worked or didn't work. The information given along the drive to Como was promising. GG was knowledgeable. He shared was interesting information, but the chaos continued throughout the tour. At Como, our first stop, he gave two different times and meeting places which caused confusion. Initially, he said to meet back at the bus on the side of the road but then added second meeting place. A family arrived late to the bus. He set the ground rules not to be late, or he would leave without you and your family, yet he himself arrived late for two of the stops (Bellagio and Lugano). We then walked to the cathedral following his very thin metal pointer that was hard to see. Many in the group of 40ish people could not see or hear him, but he informed us that he does not like to use earpieces despite the tour description. The information about Lake Como, the cathedral, the Roman walls, Volta and modern architecture was interesting, but you needed to be nearby to hear him. When we got to Argegno, the delay with the public ferry was not communicated well to our tour group. We rushed to use the bathrooms, grab a cappuccino and a pastry from the cafe and bar across the street. GG said to listen if he yelled to come back when the ferry finally arrived. In reality, we had plenty of time as we waited on the street for 32 minutes for the ferry to arrive. You would think that in 32 minutes, GG would have explained what was happening with the next part of the excursion, but no. We were given a ticket and then herded like cattle onto the public ferry. Our group scrambled to find a place to stand. There were no seats until some locals disembarked halfway into the ferry ride. We were literally scattered all over the boat, with no information given along the way including where to get off. Fortunately, I had looked at the timetables and reviews, so I knew not to get off until we reached Bellagio. The cruise took us along the lake with stunning views, and we guessed what we were seeing using our mobile phones or asking locals. About ten minutes before getting to Bellagio, GG located most of our group on the deck. He gave some information and let us know to get ready to disembark. Once back on terra firma, he pointed to a different meeting point near an orange sign and cautioned us not to be late. Again, he was late and as other members that we recognized arrived, we hoped that we had found the right spot. Bellagio apparently was free time for GG, so other than a recommendation to visit a Japanese garden, we received no information about this stop. Again, GG was one of the last ones to reach the appointed time to get on the next ferry. He was late, but he managed to come back eating a gelato. The ferry from Bellagio to Cadenabbia was very short, but scenic. Again, no information. Once in Lugano, we stopped at a museum to use their bathrooms. At this point, we lost GG. Using a better means like a flag or an umbrella or using the earpieces would have helped. Fortunately, he had pointed to the square from the moving bus where we would be meeting later in the afternoon. We did see him briefly at a beautiful church and then saw him again when he arrived later than most of our tour group. The tour was interesting, but so disorganized. Lake Como, Bellagio and Lugano in one day. So beautiful! Five stars for the itinerary, but many missed opportunities along the day. Had our guide followed the tour description, it should have been a five-star tour.

Close to the sights, but far enough away that street hustlers aren't harassing you right as you step out the door. Boutique-like accommodations with our Jr Suite - must have been the romance room since it came with Chianti. All for the price of what we would pay for a smaller, cheaper hotel in San Diego. I think we booked early before the dollar was flushed down the exchange toilet at around $100 a night, plus a tidy discount for multiple days. The name sounded vaguely like Britain when we booked, and sure enough I just checked the translation and they speak English, serve eggs and do all the things you're not supposed to do when in Italy, so maybe not the real down home Florence experience that some are looking for. It's pretty quiet. The busiest hours during the Christmas holidays, which are taken pretty seriously around here, are in the afternoon with lots of buzzing Vespas zipping around. Plus the main thoroughfares travel along the banks of the river so many ambulances rip up and down the streets at odd hours. But nothing woke us from our slumbers, which as a light sleeper is important. Except for the a really drunk opera singer on Christmas Eve at 2 am. I did not think about mosquitos until my wife read the little sign aloud recommending that the windows remain closed. Being winter it didn't seem to be a big problem, but we did see a few blood suckers. I imagine that in warmer months it can be a black cloud of vampiric bloodlust.

A gorgeous view of several of the bridges, including the historic Ponte Vecchio are literally hop skip and jump away from the hotel's front door. There are several restaurants in all directions which means you'll never have to catch a taxi to eat, unless you simply want to. We stayed from May 25, 2012 to May 30, 2012. Staff are really nice, speak English are always with a smile and will definitely help you both find places you want to go, and recommend places you should go. Wifi is provided but I will say it was very hit or miss in the actual hotel room. Standing outside your hotel room sometimes is necessary, but if you don't have a wifi device, head down to their lobby to use their computer. Breakfast was included in our plan, which is a continental, complete with several meats, cheeses, pastries, eggs (boiled and scrambled) all hot and fresh. There is a cappuccino machine but ask the staff near the machine if they'll make you a fresh cappuccino (they will, and it's MUCH better than what the machine spits out). The hotel rooms are spacious enough but no restrooms in the rooms. I'd spring for the extra cash to buy your own private restroom, which comes locked with your key. There is a safe inside but no key card access to the hotel rooms...a simple lock/key works just as well though. Definitely advise you to take a seat on the balcony several times before you leave because the view is pretty stunning. Also, I would advise you to keep your windows shut! We found out the hard way that mosquitoes have a way of floating in if you leave for the day with your window open, but the staff already knows and has plug in mosquito trappers in each room. All in all, we couldn't have picked a better place more centrally located with such a fantastic view and i'd highly recommend you visit!

That being said, I attempted to balance guided tours with my own explorations. I did not want to be part of a guided tour all day every day, so when one of my colleagues recommended Walkabout I inquired to see what they had to offer. I noticed that they had a 3-hour tour of the Piazza del Duomo which included a climb to the top of Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore Duomo di Firenze. This sounded perfect, so we decided to book it for our first full day in Firenze. Prior to my arrival in Firenze, I received correspondence from Walkabout with details about my tour. Via email and Whatsapp, I was given my start time as well as where to meet and who my tour guide will be. I booked a private tour, and I assume that's why they asked me where I was staying since my meeting point was about a 3-minute walk from my hotel. We met up with Lisa at the designated time, who gave us a quick rundown of the tour and shortly after that we got started. We began the tour in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo - we spent a good amount of time here looking at each of the exhibits, and Lisa did an excellent job going through all the details and history not only of the pieces but of the history of Firenze that shaped what we saw. The museum is noteworthy that it contains many of the original artifacts of the cathedral itself (they have been replaced by replicas in order to preserve the originals). The original doors of the Baptistery are also here, as well as a scale replica of the first three stories of the Cathedral in its original form. After some time in the museum, we made our way to the Cathedral to begin the climb. It's not the easiest climb I'll admit, as it's 400+ steps and there are points in the ascent that are tight with steep steps - but I would say it's totally worth it as the views up top are magnificent. You get panoramic views of the city so my camera was constantly clicking. While the climb concluded our tour, our tickets did include access to the Bell Tower and Baptistry which were valid over the next couple of days which I thought was a nice perk. Overall my experience with Walkabout was excellent - Lisa did an awesome job guiding us through the exhibits; she's very knowledgable, engaging, and really made this tour amazing. I would have no qualms booking a tour with them next time I'm in Florence.
