Not sure how 1 transaction for $150 turned into multiple charges and left me owing over $450 to my credit card company!

BEWARE!: Check your cc statement after you book with this company! My wife and I went to Italy in September 2024. While in Milan we contacted this tour group and reserved 2 tickets for a walking tour for a total of $151.07. Within a few hours, we decided to cancel this tour (several days before the tour and well within the posted time allowed for a full refund). It took several days to receive an email response acknowledging that we canceled and almost a month to see reverse charges on our credit card statement. Where we reviewed our credit card statement we noticed this company charged our card multiple times for varying amounts leaving us with over $450 in fraudulent charges.

We had so much fun on our wine tour with Constantino. For such a cheap price, we got to try 10 different wines along with meats, bread, and cheeses. Constantino was so kind and very helpful with any questions we had. I would absolutely take this tour again when I am back in Italy!

    Tour company is the worst

Do not take any tours with My Green Tour- shop near Duomo. They scheduled for Tuscany tour on Saturday but scheduled for Sunday instead. We had plans for Sunday already. This guy refused to admit the mistake and refused to refund! Warning, they will not refund you anything

    A downtown San Marino square
    Marqus R.

Yelper Jim D and I booked with the Ciao Florence Tours & Travels agency a tour of the Principality of San Marino and Bologna. As it turned out none of the tour portion of San Marino could actually be conducted by Ciao Florence Tours as there was a San Marino law that any such tours of San Marino must be conducted by a San Marino resident. The governing powers of San Marino will tell you that such is to assure you have "certified and knowledgeable" tour guides but I think to actually be a plug for Local 101 of tour guide union or meant to increase local employment. So, in actuality that part of the tour was contracted out, and the tour guide, as far as tour guides go, didn't amount to much. Being the foodie I am, I would have thought there would have to have been some local indigenous food specialty of San Marino, or at least something particular to San Marino that might distinguish it or set it apart from Italy. I there was, however, she didn't say anything about it. It was more like one of the tours wherein you'll hear the same, "one your right you'll see and old historic church, on your left is a view point of the valley below, you're now free to wander around on your own, just be sure to find your way back to your bus on time." So, pretty much a bunch of blah, blah, blah with little if any helpful or interesting content in what she had to say." Then, as for the Bologna part of the tour, which was conducted by Ciao, we were lead to the center of town and again pretty much left on our own. We were told of some decent restaurants, but not lead into them, told anything about the distinctive foods of Bologna, treated to anything as a group. For me this real letdown. After all, isn't the area world famous for certain sausages with the word "boloney" actually having been derived from their famed meat based sausages, especially those comprised of black pepper, nutmeg, allspice, celery seed and coriander seasonings? So, for me, again pretty much of a blah type of tour as it didn't do anything for them that I couldn't have easily accomplished on my own. The only reason to take one of these tours is for the ease of travel which Ciao attended to rather well. Other than that, since you are mostly left on your own, not worthwhile. So as actual informative tours go, meh! I've been on better.

After the rude greeting, the experience itself went smoothly - the farm has great views and the chefs did a nice job shuffling us between rooms for maximum efficiency as we prepared our meal. It was a bit of a bummer to not be able to choose our own gelato flavor to make (the were 30ish people total so they wanted us to divvy up flavors). We also had to wait a while to make our pizza since there were so many people in our group, but there was wine and good company for the wait! They were running out of some of the pizza toppings by the time we got to making ours at the end, but they still turned out delicious! The chefs were so entertaining and the food tasted great - it was nice to learn the process to make such a delicious Italian dinner. I can't wait to receive the recipes to make this meal all over again!! Thank you for a lovely experience!

That being said, I attempted to balance guided tours with my own explorations. I did not want to be part of a guided tour all day every day, so when one of my colleagues recommended Walkabout I inquired to see what they had to offer. I noticed that they had a 3-hour tour of the Piazza del Duomo which included a climb to the top of Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore Duomo di Firenze. This sounded perfect, so we decided to book it for our first full day in Firenze. Prior to my arrival in Firenze, I received correspondence from Walkabout with details about my tour. Via email and Whatsapp, I was given my start time as well as where to meet and who my tour guide will be. I booked a private tour, and I assume that's why they asked me where I was staying since my meeting point was about a 3-minute walk from my hotel. We met up with Lisa at the designated time, who gave us a quick rundown of the tour and shortly after that we got started. We began the tour in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo - we spent a good amount of time here looking at each of the exhibits, and Lisa did an excellent job going through all the details and history not only of the pieces but of the history of Firenze that shaped what we saw. The museum is noteworthy that it contains many of the original artifacts of the cathedral itself (they have been replaced by replicas in order to preserve the originals). The original doors of the Baptistery are also here, as well as a scale replica of the first three stories of the Cathedral in its original form. After some time in the museum, we made our way to the Cathedral to begin the climb. It's not the easiest climb I'll admit, as it's 400+ steps and there are points in the ascent that are tight with steep steps - but I would say it's totally worth it as the views up top are magnificent. You get panoramic views of the city so my camera was constantly clicking. While the climb concluded our tour, our tickets did include access to the Bell Tower and Baptistry which were valid over the next couple of days which I thought was a nice perk. Overall my experience with Walkabout was excellent - Lisa did an awesome job guiding us through the exhibits; she's very knowledgable, engaging, and really made this tour amazing. I would have no qualms booking a tour with them next time I'm in Florence.

We started early around 7AM, grabbing a bite to eat at the train station where we met up, before embarking on our adventures. Our first stop was at Pisa where we spent about an hour taking pictures of the leaning tower, as well as the Duomo cathedral. Next stop was the Cinque Terre, which we got to visit and see 3 out of 5 islands since 2 of them were closed off. The tour did not include lunch, but there was an option to prepay for our lunch or to venture on our own. We opted for the prepaid one since we knew we were limited on time, so that Mano could put in our order for us. Cinque Terre was breath-taking, and words could not sum up the feeling when you come there. It is crowded for sure, but take a moment to be still and look around you. All of the colorful houses were unique and quirky, which made for great background in photos. There is enough time to shop around for souvenirs, and eat gelato (omg, the best)! I only wished we booked lodging here so we could spend more time to explore, but until next time. This tour was amazing, and the group of people we were with were engaging and chill. We each did our own thing, and only met up at each designated spot when it came time. We ended the tour around 8PM, so it was well spent to say the least! Highly recommended!!
