WOW! Our tour through Grape Tours was the highlight of our trip to Italy (and trust me, we did a lot!). We took the Montalcino tour with Quentin and can't stop talking about how incredible it was. He was funny, personable, and friendly and knows SO MUCH about wine! All three of the wineries we visited were charming and offered their own experience. The lunch was wonderful and they offered vegetarian options as well. My only regret is that we did not book two tours with their team during our visit. We hope to come back in the future and will absolutely be repeat customers! Thank you for creating such beautiful memories for us.

First time in Italy so a wine tour was a must - after browsing around, I came across Tuscan Grape Tours offering the Super Chianti tour which not only went through Tuscany to 2 wineries but also stopped by the Crazy Butcher's shop (from Chef's Table) and just knew we had to sign up! MVP: Filippo the guide, driver, sommelier Grazie 'milioni' to Filippo! He was so knowledgeable about not just the wine (as a soon to be level 3 somm), but also the region as he grew up in the area. His explanation was clear and easy to understand with jokes and stories to color the commentary. He was very attentive to each of us (total 8) and made sure we had what we needed to feel comfortable throughout the tour. Thank you so much Filippo for the great tour - "dercc!" First stop: Fattoria Corzano e Paterno - smaller winery - Although we enjoyed the wines, we really loved pairing them with the cheeses - really wish we had grabbed some while we were there - Olive oil was really fruity and light as well Second stop: Antica Macelleria Cecchini (crazy butcher shop) - Wow. SO MUCH MEAT. CARNE CARNE CARNE!!! - every cut of meat was delicious. my favorites were the carpaccio and the cow knee. Overall, the meal was so delicious and as hard as we tried, we failed to finish all the food. Fas our guide mentioned, "no way you guys finish all the food" - Surprise visit by the butcher himself topped off the whole meal - especially when he came in blasting his trumpet!! :) Third stop: Villa Calcinaia - old winery producing Chianti Classico - ~500 year old villa owned by the Count producing really good wine - The tour was passed over to one of the guides on-site and although young, he knew so much about the whole process from grape to bottle. Kudos to him! All in all, the tour was well worth it! Although the drive is long, Filippo really kept us all entertained and engaged for the drive from Florence learning about all the different wines in Tuscany. We definitely would not have had a chance to see, taste, or learn about wine culture without this tour so bottom line: if you have the change to spare, this tour is totally worth not having to plan ~8 hours of fun, delicious wines, and as much meat as you can eat! Salute, Grape Tours e Filippo! Grazie!

A day trip to taste wine from Firenze? Yes! This was the first time we haven't had a car in Italy to explore on our own, so a wine tour sounded perfect. You meet at their wine store which is a great place to pin in your google maps for wine and cheese. Plus it's where the tour begins. They use vans, not big busses, which is a deal breaker for us. There were 4 other people who joined our tour, for 7 people including our guide/driver Gabriele. Gabriele knows the area, wine, speaks great English plus he's friendly too. It was less than an hour to get to the first winery (La Sala). The drive was beautiful and Gabriele talked about the wine region while in route. La Sala is not open to the public, private tasting only! It was a wonderful stop with delicious wine and our favorite. We had a few bottles shipped home! It was just our group and the wine makers brother providing the tour and tasting, with cheese and olive oil in a lovely tasting room. It was an absolutely perfect stop! The next tasting included lunch, which they were happy to accommodate me with a vegetarian meal. The vegetable salad was my favorite at this stop. I don't remember the name of the winery. At the next stop we learned about making sheep's milk cheese and then we got to taste it in a wine and cheese pairing. If we weren't traveling so much, we would have bought some cheese, it was delicious. This was a five star day thanks to the three stops, our group, Gabriele and Grape Tours. There was more than enough food, wine and fun. La Sala was the highlight for us!!! We understand the sell it in the US, and I will search it out back home.

This was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know and also enjoy the wine regions of Florence/Tuscany. The guides are very knowledgeable and take the time to explain and also answer any questions you may have. The feast was unbelievable (come hungry) there was so much food that all five of us couldn't eat it all. Thank you Rebecca and Jean. Looking forward to coming again and also doing the olive oil and cheese tastings.

We had a wonderful time wine tasting while in Italy. The bus ride was perfect and the two wineries were very hospitable. I wish we would have had a bit more time at the second winery. I felt a bit rushed. The cheese pairing with the wine was a great experience.

What a fun tour! Very easy to find office. We loved that the day included transportation, multiple stops, delicious cheese, even better olive oil, a cool lunch experience and so so so much wine. We had a small group with three other couples who we got along with so well we ended up going to dinner together when the tour was done! Our guide was very knowledgeable, gave us plenty of time for pictures and let us ask endless questions. The wineries we visited were beautiful. I recommend this company to anyone who is visiting

When we booked our trip to Florence, one of my "must do" things was a day in wine country. There are SO many tour operators out there but I picked Tuscan Wine Tours because of the great reviews. We went on the "Winter Wine Tour" which was a bit expensive at €140/pp but I thoroughly enjoyed our day. You'll meet at their HQ, which is on the other side of the river, maybe 10 minutes walking from Ponte Vecchio. Once everyone checks in you'll load into a minibus and in just minutes, have great views of the city followed by a short drive into the beautiful countryside. Our first stop was a small winery that also produces sheeps cheese - meaning we had big plates of delicious cheese to enjoy with our wine! Stop #1 had 4-5 wines to try, including one white. They were all delicious quite honestly and especially good paired with fresh cheese - the one rolled in herbs was my favorite. After the tasting is done, you have a short break to place an order (no pressure) or use the facilities. Our second stop introduced us to the delightful Anthony - I don't think it was possible for him to be more excited to give us an overview of their traditional, all organic process. I especially appreciated being able to taste from the tanks at different stages in the process - it really gave me an appreciation for how wine evolves during aging. The tasting here was accompanied by lunch which was amazing! The tasting room has floor to ceiling views over the countryside - just gorgeous. Once we sat down, giant plates and bowls of delicious food just kept coming - a huge salumi plate, spinach tarts, the most spectacular ribollita, I can't remember it all but there must have been 6-7 starters. By the time lasagna hit the table I was mostly full but had to try the fresh fruit tart. Of course, all of this was accompanied by LOTS of wine (6-7 kinds at least, the rose was my favorite). You know I ordered a case to be shipped home! A common theme among the reviews is how much people learned and I'd agree - I especially appreciated the chance to talk to the winemakers and understand all the work that goes into getting DOCG certified. And you're going to get pretty wasted and full too - two thumbs up. You could pay a little less and get in a giant tour bus to commercial winemakers that you can buy at your local grocery store, or you can take a tour with TWT and visit smaller places that still kick it old school.

I did the Super Chianti wine tour with my wife and we had a blast. I believe our tour guides name was Clemente, he was so passionate about the wine we tasted and taught us so much. Truly incredible compared to the massive vineyard we went to the other day (which I won't name because I have no interest in bashing anyone), but the tour guide there had zero interest in what she was talking about and this was night and day compared to that. We visited one winery, tasted a few wines and cheeses, went to lunch in a nearby town, and then went to one more winery. It was a great day and I would recommend this to anyone visiting Florence.

Had the best time! This was our favorite part while visiting Florence. We did the wine and cheese tour - highly recommend. Our guide Jessica was fabulous and it was a very lovely day in the country side visiting multiple wineries (and drinking lots of amazing wine).

My wife and I went on the Super Chianti tour leaving from Florence stopping at two vineyards and lunch at Antica Macellaria Cecchini, the butcher shop of Chef's Table fame. The day was unforgettable and an experience I highly recommend to anyone visiting Florence. Our tour guide Tom was very knowledgeable and created a fun atmosphere the entire trip. He kept us informed the entire way. The lunch was incredible. We were greeted from the van by Dario and staff with glasses of wine and samples of meats and cheese. We sat in a private room for one of the best meals I've ever had! And of course the wine!! So many amazing selections for us to try. We bought a few bottles of rosato for the rest of our trip and will be placing an order soon. This excursion is a can't miss! I can't recommend enough!!

The price tag is a big hefty, but a wine tour with Tuscany Private Tours is oh so worth it…read more I was staying in the Castellina area of Chianti and was having a lot of trouble finding a company that would provide a private transfer to and from the hotel. Most tours leave from the Florence / Siena area, or have you meet them right at the winery. My feeling was that if I was spending a few days in Tuscany I wanted at least one day of not having to worry about driving to and from wineries. Thankfully we found Tuscany Private Tours and all was good. It is an extra 40 euro to add pick up and drop off at the hotel. But if you are going to all the trouble to arrange a private tour it would be the worst to have to drive 15-20 minutes to actually get to the tour. So again, you can really alleviate all driving with this if you want to. We took the 'Safari Tour' -- basically like a regular wine tour, except you get to cruise around in a super cool land rover. Our guide Paolo was awesome. He was super friendly and knowledgeable of wine and the area, and was overall just a really cool person to spend the day with. You visit three different wineries, tastings included at each and also have an included homemade winery lunch at your last stop. I liked that all three wineries have very different vibes. Our guide also mentioned that he chooses to do this on purpose. First stop -- a big commercial winery. Very cool to tour their production facility and then compare that to a production facility at a much smaller winery. Second Stop -- more of an urban experience. We visited a tasting room on the main street in Castellina. Paolo explained that he purposely takes people to this winery because it is one of the oldest in the area. After visiting several wineries in the rolling hills it was cool to also check one out in more of an industrial setting. Third Stop -- by far the best! Paolo took us to a very small winery. So small, that you'd probably only be able to find them if you have a tour guide that is friends with their family (ahem, Paolo). The grounds were absolutely gorgeous -- insane views of the Tuscan hills and gorgeous plants and greenery everywhere. We enjoyed a fantastic multi-course lunch -- pasta (of course), assorted crostinis, cheeses, meats and dessert. Because it's lunch (and maybe because it's the last stop?) we also had way more wine than just a taste. I'm here for it. If you want to try all wines before deciding which bottle to buy, they have every bottle available at the Tuscany Private Tour office. Tips for the tastings are included, but tips for your guide aren't, so be sure to bring some cash. Long review, but in short -- if you are not staying in the city and want to wine tour without worrying about driving then just do this. It's pricey but worth it for an incredible day. We will truly remember it forever.

The roads to the farm are windy and narrow, but the views are incredible. Once we arrived, we were greeted by Francesca (our host and guide). She offered us coffee and water, as well as mosquito repellent since it was summer time. She has a brief overview of what we were going to do. Then we went and got Choco, our truffle hunting dog. He's a friendly and energertic Lagotto Romangnolo. He's specially trained to find truffles, but not eat them. Since it was July in Tuscany, Francesca reminded us that she respected the dogs and if Choco was too hot, we would have to end the hunt. Then we went off on a short hike through the woods. As soon as we got into the woods, Choco stopped and started digging. Francesca and Choco work extremely well with each other and respect each other. Francesca dug up a small (about the size of a button mushroom) white truffle! These are not in season, but it still smelled fragrant and Francesca said she would keep it since it was good quality. For the next half hour we continued to walk through the forest and found 2 black summer truffles and another white truffle. The black summer truffles are not as aromatic as the white ones, but had an earthier smell. Francesca also pointed out other plants and vegetables along the way. When Choco was tired, he let us know by sitting at our feet which indicated it was time for pictures lol. We then walked back to the farmhouse where we said good bye to Choco and ate an amazing 4 course lunch with tons of truffles. Even though it was hot, they provided fans and ice water to keep us cool. I was shocked by how much food we got and the wines served with lunch was incredible! We were so full after lunch! Francesca and her family made sure we were comfortable and well fed. Their hospitality was so generous and we loved every minute we were there. *Helpful Hint* Wear long pants and good sneakers because the forest has lots of branches and thorny plants. The other people in our group wore shorts and it was unconfortable for them to walk around.

My wife and I were looking for an 'authentic' wine tasting experience near Florence (something close enough for my wife and I to ride a moped through Florence). Paulo didn't have the most reviews online but every review I saw was 5 stars. This piqued my interest..."there's something here". We find ourselves walking in the front door of an old mom and pop shop bodega/general store. Paulo greets us warmly and we walk down some stairs to his basement. We're greeted by a pre set up tasting table that just looks fantastic. Paulo goes on to teach us about the components of the tongue and how the various fruit, nut, cheese, combinations hit the senses that just so happen to pair perfectly with his Rose wine--and that was just the beginning. To this day we continue to recommend him without reservation to all of our friends (with 10+ friends being able to experience his tasting, and each agreeing this was one of their best memories in Italy). We also continue to order his wine and olive oil direct to the US and his wine currently occupies the top shelf on our wine rack. Paulo, you're awesome!!
