I struggled trying to select the perfect winery tour that would allow my family to have a varied memorable experience. My friend recommended Grape Tours and I felt relief as there was no easy way to have that kind of experience with 8 family members without a car. We selected Fabulous Tuscany! We walked to the wine and cheese shop right from our Airbnb in Florence. We were greeted by Rebecca at 8:45AM, and our driver for the day, Daniel at 9AM as planned. All 8 of us had an amazing day with Daniel visiting Campo Sasso with Pierre (and Frisbee their amazing pup!), sampling wine, balsamic and cheese (all incredible!) on their gorgeous country grounds. Then onto Tenuta La Novella, another beautiful winery with unique wine barrels and fabulous wine and honey to die for! Again the pups (Little Nana especially) kept us entertained. Our final stop was with Miscia at Tenuta Montiani and just wow! Miscia *and his pups!* shared a meal with us that was out of this world and his hospitality and stories top notch. One of the best days on our trip together and I highly recommend Rebecca and Pierre's special itinerary they put together for a varied winery experience! WOW! Our tour through Grape Tours was the highlight of our trip to Italy (and trust me, we did a lot!). We took the Montalcino tour with Quentin and can't stop talking about how incredible it was. Our guides Quinten and Daire were very knowledgeable, personable, and were great with our young kids. Even giving the kids a little "wine" tasting of their very own! First time in Italy so a wine tour was a must - after browsing around, I came across Tuscan Grape Tours offering the Super Chianti tour which not only went through Tuscany to 2 wineries but also stopped by the Crazy Butcher's shop (from Chef's Table) and just knew we had to sign up! MVP: Filippo the guide, driver, sommelier Grazie 'milioni' to Filippo! He was so knowledgeable about not just the wine (as a soon to be level 3 somm), but also the region as he grew up in the area. SO MUCH MEAT. CARNE CARNE CARNE!!! - every cut of meat was delicious. my favorites were the carpaccio and the cow knee. Overall, the meal was so delicious and as hard as we tried, we failed to finish all the food. Fas our guide mentioned, "no way you guys finish all the food" - Surprise visit by the butcher himself topped off the whole meal - especially when he came in blasting his trumpet!! :) Third stop: Villa Calcinaia - old winery producing Chianti Classico - ~500 year old villa owned by the Count producing really good wine - The tour was passed over to one of the guides on-site and although young, he knew so much about the whole process from grape to bottle. Kudos to him! All in all, the tour was well worth it! Although the drive is long, Filippo really kept us all entertained and engaged for the drive from Florence learning about all the different wines in Tuscany. We definitely would not have had a chance to see, taste, or learn about wine culture without this tour so bottom line: if you have the change to spare, this tour is totally worth not having to plan ~8 hours of fun, delicious wines, and as much meat as you can eat! A day trip to taste wine from Firenze? Yes! This was the first time we haven't had a car in Italy to explore on our own, so a wine tour sounded perfect. You meet at their wine store which is a great place to pin in your google maps for wine and cheese. Plus it's where the tour begins. They use vans, not big busses, which is a deal breaker for us. There were 4 other people who joined our tour, for 7 people including our guide/driver Gabriele. Gabriele knows the area, wine, speaks great English plus he's friendly too. It was less than an hour to get to the first winery (La Sala). The drive was beautiful and Gabriele talked about the wine region while in route. La Sala is not open to the public, private tasting only! It was a wonderful stop with delicious wine and our favorite. We had a few bottles shipped home! It was just our group and the wine makers brother providing the tour and tasting, with cheese and olive oil in a lovely tasting room. It was an absolutely perfect stop! The next tasting included lunch, which they were happy to accommodate me with a vegetarian meal. The vegetable salad was my favorite at this stop. I don't remember the name of the winery. At the next stop we learned about making sheep's milk cheese and then we got to taste it in a wine and cheese pairing. If we weren't traveling so much, we would have bought some cheese, it was delicious. This was a five star day thanks to the three stops, our group, Gabriele and Grape Tours. If you happen upon this review out of the hundreds of 5 star reviews Grape Tours has, I hope it is the last one you read to convince you to take the jump and book it. It must be noted to start that our guide, Clemente, was amazing and definitely pushed the experience from great to transformative. He was uniquely humorous, informative, passionate, and poignant in equal measure and I cannot stress how much he elevated the tour. The tour starts at their cheese shop right over the river, an easy walk from most of Florence. We checked in early, got coffee from a cafe a couple doors down, and waited for our group to arrive. Immediately Clemente greeted us and started asking us where we were from-(he happened to have traveled America before and had a quip about each of our hometowns). He quickly ushered us into the A/C'd van and swept us off to our first winery. Nicola at the first location was equally as passionate about his craft as he guided us around the grounds, explained the different techniques for growing grapes and vineyard maintenance, and hosted our wine tasting. One of the highlights to us was the second stop, where after a short walk of the grounds and explanation of its heritage, Aunt Rob sits you down to a home-cooked lunch while she explains the intricacies of her vineyard's wines. After a delicious and filling lunch you're taken to the farm-an expansive vineyard with a herd of sheep on property (can't visit them, sorry!). You're taken for a tour of the cheese making facility and taught all about the art of cheesemaking. Afterwards, you sit down to your final tasting, complete with fresh cheese pairings. If the cheese and wine wasn't enough, Anthony Bourdain visited while filming No Reservations! I can't speak about other wine tours in Tuscany, but I can promise you that putting your time, money, and trust in Grape Tours Tuscany is the right call. 11/10 recommend. read more

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our full day tour with Grape Tours (the small group Super Chianti tour) and it was one of our favorite parts when we visited Florence. Our tour guide/sommelier (Gianmarco) was incredibly knowledgeable and a good driver on the windy roads in Tuscany! We drove about 45 mins outside of Florence, toured the first winery and had a wine tasting in the cellar along with a cheese tasting with honey and jam that they also sell at the winery. Gianmarco educated us about the different wines, the different wine regions, and how the wine production process works. The lunch at Dario Cecchini's in Panzano was delicious, and we even got to meet the butcher himself! In the afternoon, we toured a second, smaller "boutique" winery in the Chianti Classico region and enjoyed a tasting there as well. When we booked our trip to Florence, one of my "must do" things was a day in wine country. There are SO many tour operators out there but I picked Tuscan Wine Tours because of the great reviews. We went on the "Winter Wine Tour" which was a bit expensive at €140/pp but I thoroughly enjoyed our day. You'll meet at their HQ, which is on the other side of the river, maybe 10 minutes walking from Ponte Vecchio. Once everyone checks in you'll load into a minibus and in just minutes, have great views of the city followed by a short drive into the beautiful countryside. Our first stop was a small winery that also produces sheeps cheese - meaning we had big plates of delicious cheese to enjoy with our wine! Stop #1 had 4-5 wines to try, including one white. They were all delicious quite honestly and especially good paired with fresh cheese - the one rolled in herbs was my favorite. After the tasting is done, you have a short break to place an order (no pressure) or use the facilities. Our second stop introduced us to the delightful Anthony - I don't think it was possible for him to be more excited to give us an overview of their traditional, all organic process. I especially appreciated being able to taste from the tanks at different stages in the process - it really gave me an appreciation for how wine evolves during aging. The tasting here was accompanied by lunch which was amazing! The tasting room has floor to ceiling views over the countryside - just gorgeous. Once we sat down, giant plates and bowls of delicious food just kept coming - a huge salumi plate, spinach tarts, the most spectacular ribollita, I can't remember it all but there must have been 6-7 starters. By the time lasagna hit the table I was mostly full but had to try the fresh fruit tart. Of course, all of this was accompanied by LOTS of wine (6-7 kinds at least, the rose was my favorite). You know I ordered a case to be shipped home! A common theme among the reviews is how much people learned and I'd agree - I especially appreciated the chance to talk to the winemakers and understand all the work that goes into getting DOCG certified. And you're going to get pretty wasted and full too - two thumbs up. You could pay a little less and get in a giant tour bus to commercial winemakers that you can buy at your local grocery store, or you can take a tour with TWT and visit smaller places that still kick it old school. read more

I did the Super Chianti wine tour with my wife and we had a blast. I believe our tour guides name was Clemente, he was so passionate about the wine we tasted and taught us so much. Truly incredible compared to the massive vineyard we went to the other day (which I won't name because I have no interest in bashing anyone), but the tour guide there had zero interest in what she was talking about and this was night and day compared to that. We visited one winery, tasted a few wines and cheeses, went to lunch in a nearby town, and then went to one more winery. My wife and I went on the Super Chianti tour leaving from Florence stopping at two vineyards and lunch at Antica Macellaria Cecchini, the butcher shop of Chef's Table fame. The day was unforgettable and an experience I highly recommend to anyone visiting Florence. Our tour guide Tom was very knowledgeable and created a fun atmosphere the entire trip. We did the ELITE NOBILE di MONTEPULCIANO wine tour out of Florence with Paolo and had an absolutely wonderful time. While the outing was a bit of a splurge for us price wise, the delicious 5-course lunch (with 2 wine pairings) and time spend in the town of Montepulciano, in addition to tours & ample tastings at 2 wineries made the full-day outing worth it! Plus there were only 4 people and the guide on our outing, so felt very personal. Paolo was a delight and very knowledgeable. He spent much of the +1hr drive to the Montepulciano region giving us background on the regional wines of Italy, the history, and the DOCG certifications. The wineries each had informative guides for the tours & tastings, but Paolo's additional commentary and explanations on how to sample the wine we were drinking, etc, was very educational. The first winery we went to, Boscarelli, was more traditional. We sampled 5 different wines, and were given extra pours of our favorites. Then we went to lunch at Botte Piena Osmosi. Delicious 5-course meal with wine on the beautiful Tuscan hillside. We had a very brief pit-stop in the old town of Montepulciano. We do wish we had a bit more time to explore this town, but was great nonetheless. Lastly, we went to Icario, which was a much more modern winery than the first stop. Made it interesting to compare the two wineries. We tasted 6 different wines here before heading back to Florence. read more

Ok, I loooove me some wine. However do I know much about wine? Hard no. This tour was perfect. Taught us so much and we got wine from two vineyards (they weren't stingy on the pours like some Napa wineries) and we got to me the famous butcher Dario Cecchini (he was on A. Bourdain RIP). Honestly took this tour because someone I know who makes wine in Oregon told me they did it anddddd one of the other group members on our trip was a sommelier. Clearly she made the rest of us look like we were sipping grape juice from a box. Anyway, super fun. Beautiful photo ops. Amazing lunch with Florentine steak from said famous butcher. During Covid 19 had a flu the night before. Grape Tours cancelled on their own, never refunded payment or offered any alternative such as a future tour. Avoid them, there are many other tours. Not very nice. Just read their response to our complaint. Just untrue, we never cancelled, they did when they heard the word flu (covid 19). We explained the problem and the next minute we were sent an email cancellation by them. No alternative offered even though their paperwork offers one. We have all the emails. We were not a no show. They lie. Again don't bother with these people. Many other alternatives. read more
