I had rented a log splitter from eureka rentals. It had worked great for 5 days. The rope broke on day 5 which had to happen on a Sunday at 7am. I lost use of the machine for the last 2 days of the rental. when I inquired about making some compensation for the lost time I was told that by the time their machine broke it was already a 7 day rental since it broke on the morning of the 5th day. This is chiefly a rental and mower repair and sales place. I have only limited experience with that in that I have come here for parts and they seem to have a decent inventory. I also buy propane here and they fill up your tank as opposed to exchange it and I think you are getting a fuller refill. Sadly this reviewer has to comment on the COVID issues here, perhaps in this part of Jefferson County there is not a concern for COVID but I was amazed that NO ONE BEHIND THE COUNTER WORE A MASK. Dishonest. Didn't perform tests i paid them to do. They removed valve cover,rocker arms and push rods. I posted anther review on this issue and Scott instead of admitting they didn't do what they were paid to do. He stands by a bad diagnosis and claimed that because I did the testing and proved what they diagnosed was wrong and since I put it back together it would fail again. It didn't fail to begin with. I took it in to test the High pressure fuel pump and check the computer only. They didn't do either. They handed me a bag of parts and a diagnosis of needing a head due to valve guides pushing out and a stuck valve. After putting it back together and setting valve lash. I did a compression test 125psi on both sides.the valve guides were not pushed out and the valve guide seals looked new. I bought the parts from another supplier for $260 they quoted $500 plus labor before doing all the testing myself. I didn't have the time to do all this stuff that's why I sent it to them to begin with. I also didn't have the fuel injection pressure test kit (I do now) I also didn't have the computer software,but no check engine light. Watch out they will charge toi for expensive parts and repairs you don't need. I only needed a valve adjustment in the end literally a 10 min job that should have only been $57.50 for their half hour rate. Also read reviews and Scott's responses it's never their fault and always the customer. These guys have zero ethics. read more

I wasn't going to take my zero turn to Eureka Rentals, but the dealer I was planning on dropping off my mower with was closed on a Saturday. I had it on the trailer and dropped it off at Eureka Rental. 3 weeks later I picked it up in the pouring rain so I couldn't inspect it as I should have. My instructions when I dropped it off was to make it like new. They asked my limit "without a call" and I said $500. The bill was $494.70, imagine that... It would barely start and would barley get off the trailer when I got home. I took it apart looking for something simple. It was backfiring, it appeared they had cross threaded a spark plug, it hadn't been cleaned up in the deck area, etc... So for $500.00 I got new blades, spark plugs, air filter and a flushed gas tank, air in the tires and a straightened lift bracket. Not even a new belt. I finally diagnosed that a plug wire was loose, the carburetor was gunked up and that it was running rich. At times it appeared one of the cylinders wasn't firing. But I got it running good enough to mow my yard. I did have to go back and make additional adjustments (I have to be real careful when replacing the spark plug because it definitely was cross threaded, about 1/4 of the way in) and that is my story. I really just wanted to take one thing off my list so that I wouldn't have to chase parts, and fight the bolts on the blades (they had never been changed), etc. I learned a $500.00 lesson. I purchased a new Ferris mower recently and had a great experience during the sale working with Daniel the store manager. Then things started to go wrong with the mower. The service manager, Howard took care of me for the three different issues I was in for. After a couple months I was still having issues with the transmissions and then Daniel and Scott, the owner got involved. They went to bat for me with Ferris and now I will be picking up a brand new mower on Friday. I have been pleased with the service at Eureka Rental and they make you feel like family. Friendly staff and knowledgeable repairmen for equipment. Bigger jobs can take a few weeks to repair so be advised. Some Easy and short jobs are a few days tops. I have used them for 10 years for yard tool repair and will continue to do so. read more

There has to be a better way to handle people who need what you have. Very troubling that Joe Q. Public with money to spend has got to stand in his head to get attention when walking in the door. More concern is paid to how the computer will react to the changes the customer requires than customer. This place is the absolute worst! They sold my husband a Ferris ZT IS 7002 two years ago. Both front wheels have fallen off (they call it a transmission, or mounting flange failure). To make matters worse, we can't get any warranty service. Our mower has been in the shop since 7/31 with no anticipated completion date. A Eureka Rental sales rep told my husband on his last visit to check on the status of the mower repairs that all the Ferris are having major transmission issues. Then why are they selling them? Have they offered us any compensation? Of course not. In the interim, the warranty period is ticking on this several thousand dollar hunk of trash. Our last ZT was a Toro, and it ran better at 9 years than the Ferris at one year. Our neighbor loves his Gravely. We definitely won't buy another Ferris, and we definitely won't return to Eureka Rental. We need a service dept. we can count on to get the job done promptly and right! I called today to check on the mower and was told by the service dept. that they haven't looked at the mower yet. What? It's been five weeks! The response: "well you know we've got other mowers to work on, too." Oh hell no. read more

I took equipment in to have repaired and was told I would be looking at two weeks before they could get to it. Two weeks came and went, so I called to get the status and was told that I should have been told three weeks. Well three weeks came and went. I called several more times and was told no go. On or about the fourth week I was told the part was ordered. It took another week to get it and fix the machine. All the while I was needing the machine to finish a job I started when the machine went out. The only nice thing was an employee (Jennifer) (after the third week) offered to let me use a machined (at no charge). I didn't want to drive the 70 mile round trip when the indication was to get mine back shortly. None of the other people (Tim) I spoke with even hinted at that. If I had read the reviews before going there I would have though long and hard about using them or at least questioned the timetable. End result two weeks turned into five plus. My experience was bad. The Owner seems always to reply that customers were rude or lying. That may have been true in some cases. If you read the reviews there is a pattern of the owner, Steve, making excuses for some situations in which he could of been more flexible, instead he accuses the customer of doing something intentionally wrong. Steve is conflict adverse and should learn to handle situations better when is does get directly confronted. I've seen him get mad at customer situations and really fly off the handle. It is a wonder that he has repeat customers, I suppose if nothing goes wrong it's an okay place to go... But he's not the only gig in town, so buyer beware. Also, they say you should call them right away if you have an issue but if you are told "too bad" and try then to get Steve he'll always be unavailable if he knows you are escalating an issue. I'm guessing he does not want me again as a customer anymore than I want to go back and do business there, so it's cool. I just could not help writing this after reading the other reviews. I'm guessing the reply will be that I'm rude and wrong. read more
