We had a terrible experience with Eureka lockers quality. We go through a local farmer to get a quarter to half beef each year. We have had several other lockers process and the results have always been fantastic. In contrast, Eureka lockers quality could not have been worse! Upon thawing steaks, ground, roasts, etc over 50% of the meat was discolored and smelled bad. Even the day we picked it all up, I remember it smelling so bad in there that I couldn't wait to get out. Others from the same processing dates had the same problem, and for months we attempted to resolve this issue with Eureka Locker. Eureka completely wrote us off, communication severely lacked, and at the end of all this, we never got a resolution from them. We will never use them again, and definitely recommend choosing a different processor in the area. read more

We go thru a local farmer and get a quarter of beef each year. The quality has always been great. When we run out, we have a hard time going to a grocery store now and getting meat. The bacon is great. The owner was so kind and thoughtful, talking to my son who is on a junior meat judging team. She didnt have to take time out of her day and do that, but it meant a lot to him. This is a factual review of Bittner's Eureka Locker: 2 head of cattle were delivered to Eureka Locker August 3rd and 5 head of cattle delivered August 4th 2022 for processing dates of August 4th & 5th. The whole beef carcasses were to hang for 14 days in the cooler and then be processed and packaged to each beef owner's specific cutting instruction. The 2 individuals with a 1/2 of beef each, ear tag # 421B, received their processed meat from Bittner's and put the freezer beef packages into the freezer immediately upon arrival at their residence. As the meat was removed from the freezer to be cooked, upon thawing out, some of the packages were discolored, slimy and foul smelling. A meeting was set with the Owner of Bittner's Eureka Locker to discuss the discolored, slimy, and foul-smelling meat. She wanted to see the bad meat; 3 random packages were delivered to Eureka Locker frozen and unopened for inspection. As this situation of the meat packages being bad is intermittent and inconsistent, those 3 packages were fine. The owner sent an email with images of the meat she received and inspected looking fine as all of the packages should look. It was stated that Bittner's Locker would compensate the customers for the packages of meat that were found to be bad. The individuals located other bad meat packages to be taken to Eureka Locker for inspection. A phone message was left with an employee at Eureka Locker on December 27, 2022 to have the owner contact the individuals with no response. On January 13, 2023 an email was sent to Eureka Locker attempting to set a date to drop off the located spoiled meat. Bittner's Eureka Locker never did contact anyone back so that we could have dropped off the freezer beef packages for her inspection. read more

I always try to support local businesses but I am extremely disappointed with the failures in quality over the last two years at Eureka meat locker. So this fall I had a deer processed here. I was told in order to get sticks and/or jerky I had to get a large pre set amount so I ended up receiving the minimum that I could order which once I did the math, was way more in poundage than the deer that I killed. Know this going in you WILL not be getting the deer that you shot when you get it processed here. Also every single deer stick package that we received had chunks of bone in it. We went through at least 4 to 5 different packages of sticks and every single one had bone in the grind. Then this spring due to COVID-19, I ordered a side of beef from a local farmer, unbeknownst to me he gets his cows processed at Eureka meat locker, I expressed my concerns with him and he informed mr that it HAD been an issue with some bad employees and the owner/manager Julie had fixed the problem He mentioned I should take it up with the owner. When I reached out to her about the side to be processed and expressed my concerns about my experience she denied adamantly that that was possible that we would never get bone in our grind and she had no idea what I was talking about. I gave her the benefit of the doubt...........second mistake. To date so far we are 8-10 pounds of hamburger into the meat we received and on multiple occasions have bit into huge chunks of bone, again, tooth chipping sizes. Also I will attach a picture of the "fillets" that we received these clearly are not fillets! I may not be a butcher but I have never seen a fillet look like this, we have purchased whole loins from Costco and cut our own fillets off of them several times and nothing has ever looked this poor? We also have obviously eaten fillets at restaurants and stores---you be the judge--- it looks more like a chunk of round steak or ribeye to me. I was surprised when we took them out of the package they fell apart into four different sections as you can see in the picture I would not take your meat or buy meat from this locker until they get it figured out. It's obvious their quality is terrible and the folks in the back don't know what they are doing. I hate to do this to a small business but they clearly are not getting it done. The three other families we shared the side of beef with are in agreement. Take your meat elsewhere folks. read more

I'm really upset at the customer service I received. I had 2 gift certificates that were printed on pieces of paper that I accidentally threw away because they were just printed on pieces of printer paper - an honest mistake. I called Bittners to get a replacement and they told me they couldn't do that because they would be losing money by doing so. I didn't understand that logic because it would simply be reprinting some gift certificates on literal printer paper and there wasn't an actual card that had money processed on it. It was an honest mistake and the lady who answered the phone (per the boss's orders) didn't necessarily say they didn't trust me, but that was the sentiment. I'm unfortunately in a situation where the gift certificates were for a silent auction for the 4-H Federation and now I will have to purchase $100 worth of gift certificates from my own money to replace them to give to those who won them. I understand that small businesses are hurting and maybe Bittners has been burned before from other people making false claims, but I feel that this was not good customer service in the face of an honest mistake. read more

I would not recommend this meat locker for processing your cow or pig. Brought in a high quality cow - the meat processed and given to my son was in complete contrast. The rib eyes were small (I mean SMALL - pork chops were bigger in size then these steaks), T Bones - same. Hardly any marbling. The number of steaks were very low. One would question where this meat truly came from ? One will never know..... but I do know "Something smells rotten in Eureka. read more
