Euclid Records might be one of the best-organized record stores I've ever experienced. Encompassing two floors, the records are seemingly alphabetized in EVERY BIN... including the bins holding the bands not given their own specific sections (example: where Def Leppard, Duran Duran and Bob Dylan get their own spots, other bands are just put under a generic "D" label... but even that "D" label is alphabetized!!!) I can only imagine that they go through their bins a few times a week to assure this and I very much appreciate it! Their jazz section upstairs seems to be enormous, and look up on the walls- their more valuable "wall albums" are scattered throughout both floors. A $5 record bin in the back of the first floor offers some great classic rock (even some 60's era Rolling Stones!) at a budget-conscious price. This is great for folks just getting into vinyl and wanting to explore some rock history. read more

i've been coming to Euclid for about six years. I buy really everything use new, hip-hop, rock, classic etc. I'd say the best thing the store has going for them is the vibe the store has as well as a selection of great items. However, selling records to them, I would not recommend as they only give you a quarter (less than half) of what they sell for. Things they could improve on would probably be customer service, a lot of the workers seem like they don't want to be there and just have pretty poor attitudes, very nose up kind of people sometimes depending on who's there. There is this one girl, who I'm not sure has a soul behind her eyes because she always has a look on her face that just says "i'm kind of a c-u-n-t, & and I don't wanna be here" Bring back the old stickers read more

Five stars aren't enough! Euclid Records in St. Louis completely blew me away. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was top-notch--everyone was friendly, welcoming, and super helpful without being overbearing. You can tell the people here genuinely care about music and take pride in the store. One thing that immediately stood out to me was how clean and well-organized everything was. Every vinyl priced over $5 (outside of the $1 or $2 bins) was placed in a plastic sleeve, which shows real attention to detail and respect for the records. The layout made digging easy and enjoyable. I spent a good amount of time going through the rock, soul, and hip-hop sections and found some gems I didn't expect. Just when I thought I had seen everything, they let me know there was an entire upstairs filled with even more records--country, jazz, pop, soundtracks--you name it. I used to love going in to browse their selection. Especially the previous location. Being 6 hours away, I don't get in very often. The last two visits were going to have to be a quick in and out. I decided to browse the selection online and place the order for pickup. It's sure not as fun as flipping through the stacks, but I knew I wouldn't have much time. The listings online are a little confusing on the description of the quality on the vinyl. I thought I just risk it and place the order. Both times I've been satisfied by the results. They have been just fine except for one. That one could have easily been overlooked by the grader though. It was excellent condition except one track was completely toast. I wouldn't even risk my needle playing it again. But overall, this is probably how I'll do my shopping there from now on because I'm usually rushed while I'm in there. read more

Stopped in here to pickup a gift card and found my favorite Stanley Clarke album. Euclid Records has been around for a long time. They moved to Gore in Webster Groves a while ago. They have old vinyl and new. Some CD's and every type of music there is. Two floors of amazing tunes. Great staff there to help. You can play records before you buy. I stumbled across this place randomly waiting for another business to open for lunch. So glad I came to this place! Immediately when I walked in Derrick greeted me with a friendly upbeat tune and began telling me details about where I could find specific genres. He knows his stuff so well and considering the fact I was born in the early 90s half of these records are older than me I was clueless walking into this place. He let me know the difference between record players and any questions I had he more than happily answered them. I'm considering buying a record player now just to come back and buy some albums. He also let me know they buy record players and records from others. This is a huge plus considering my grandpa has a bunch of albums he doesn't use just sitting around. Vinyl is back! I've revived my pioneer turntable, Sansui receiver and Teac reel to reel. Pulled out that old Peaches album case and cranked out 100 watts of rock jams that blows any iPhone off to another planet! As record shops go, Euclid is spectacular from an "eye test" perspective. As a result, their prices are slightly high, especially on more mainstream titles. That said, the vibe there is pretty good, and their breadth and depth of vinyl are the best in town, by far. Which means you'll often find gems there at the same higher price as more mainstream releases -- IMHO, the quintessential record store experience! They do RSD bigger and better than anybody. Their dollar bins are better than most. Customer service is serviceable, no more/less. Speaking of which, Jeff Tweedy (IYKYK) worked there long ago in a previous life. When it comes to buying back your stuff -- or even just seeking trade -- Euclid's guiding principle is clearly some version of "buy low, sell high." The best cd/record store in St Louis, bar none. Well organized new and used products with the bulk of therein floor devoted to rock music, including local and independent artists. CDs, LPs, and even 45s!! The upstairs level has a variety of genres, from folk and country to blues, should, classical, easy listening, children's music ... and more. Staff are friendly and knowledgable. The store also has a small collection of music-related books and periodicals. Prices for used merchandise are fair; there are bargains to be had. New vinyl seems to be on the high side ... but they sell a lot, so maybe I'm just out of touch with the current market. I primarily buy used LPs and their prices are lower than I find online (eBay, Amazon, etc.). Anyway, iy costs nothing to browse, but don't be surprised to find yourself walking out with some gems purchased for your collection. Really good selection of harder to find albums. Makes me want to come back. Customer service makes me not want to. I returned a album that was warped. They wanted to know if they could use a flatter on it. I said I prefer not. Asked for store credit and he said "yeah that's all we offer" Rudely under his breath yet I heard it clearly. Another employee went by us with a stack of albums from the barley working listening station that I guess someone didn't refile. I hate that also makes it hard to find stuff but I certainly would not do like him and throw the stack angrily against the wall. Wonder why I got a wrapped record? Am I being too critical? I don't know but I do know it's not the face I would want to put out to customers. Also I wouldn't tell a customer that we don't take albums that "Let's say are less than loved" by thier owners." Then act like a ass and slam down the hand scanner and toss my refund card with my huge $10.90 cents across the counter because I wanted the huge $10 trade they were giving me for 3 cds. There are other record stores in st.Louis I can spend my money at and you know what? They never talk rude to me no matter how many questions I ask or what trade I bring in. So Euclid records it may not matter to you that one customer walked out saying I'll never come again but I'm still saying it. read more

Visited Euclid Records again on my birthday recently. It has become my favorite local record store. They have music from every band whose music I've wanted to buy on vinyl, and if there's something you want that's out of stock, they can get it pretty fast if the distributor has it. Super nice and helpful staff too, and they're always playing good music you usually haven't heard before. Big thanks to Aaron at Euclid Records who helped me jump our car after I left the headlights on during a recent visit to Euclid Records. I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't been in their new location yet until today. (and they moved there nearly a few years ago....) But I have been to Euclid Records in the past, and its never a letdown. Its almost an average record store, but with a few differences here and there. They do have CDs and tapes, in addition to vinyl. Like their old location, they have a separate section devoted to jazz (Kenny G and Miles Davis-type jazz) upstairs. As far as 45s, they have them neatly organized in file cabinet-style shelves. Organized by era, genre and a few other areas, that is. They do keep up with new vinyl releases as they proudly display the latest in front of the store. One other thing that sets Euclid apart from other record shops is they are also a label, in which they literally press for local acts. Be sure to give them a listen; I purchased a few of those records. You'll be amazed by some St. Louis talent! read more

If you want some of the worst customer service you've ever experienced in any type of business from snotty, elitist hipsters, this is the place to go! Have fun! But if you want good customer service in a welcoming shopping environment, go elsewhere! The pricing is very inconsistent on used stuff and the selection of new CDs of classic country is rather lacking and spotty. The jazz record selection upstairs is good. There are at least two restrooms, but customers aren't allowed to use them. In 2020, the excuse was "because of the pandemic." Now the snotty hipsters' response is "we can't handle it." Yeah, you can't handle my money either! I'll never again step foot into this extremely unwelcoming business as they obviously have more than enough customers and don't need more revenue. I must admit the selection is great, but the customer service is AWFUL. Asked to look at an OPEN record to verify the color before purchasing, and the associate insisted it was factory sealed and couldn't even be bothered to listen to me-I ultimately put my purchases down and left. My friends, this is the cool place to be! Euclid Records has been rocking Webster Groves since 1981, and there's no end in sight! More than just a record store, Euclid Records has an active blog and also has fun events every now and then. In fact, it was at one of these such events that my fiance and I really clicked. A few years ago Euclid featured Punk Rock Night, playing punk music and punk films. We watched Rock'N"Roll High School together, and the rest is history! We've been patrons of the place ever since. Most of their cds are rock, but you'll find every genre available. Remember, they can order anything your little heart desires! After a 36 year hiatus, I am once again collecting and listening to vinyl records. We are very fortune in St. Louis to have several very fine record stores. From my experience thus far, Euclid is the best. I state this based on their vast selection, and helpfulness of staff. I was able to purchase hard to find classic rock, R&B and Jazz. I would give them a 5 stars if not for the major oversight of placing their huge Sinatra selection in an area that is knee high and not easy to view and flip through. I love how record stores in St. Louis differ in personality, but they can all be worthy of five stars in their own way. Euclid Records has a completely different vibe from Vintage Vinyl and some of the louder record stores I've visited across the country. Euclid feels more like a library - a library of awesome. It's not quiet by any means - music is constantly playing - but the music isn't as in-your-face as it is in other stores. There are all kinds of bins and wall shelves and nooks in which you can find good music. While that can be overwhelming and possibly in annoying in another store, at Euclid, it's charming. When I go, I feel like I'm digging through my uber-cool older sister's locked trunk of CDs and albums (If I had an older sister, that is. I turned my younger sister onto Pearl Jam, so maybe I'm the cool older sister? I don't know. This is getting way too meta for a review.). At Euclid, it just feels like a treasure hunt for things you've been searching for forever or things you didn't even realize that you wanted. No, not "wanted." NEEDED. Random analogy: Vintage Vinyl = The Misfits Euclid Records = Elvis Costello in the early '80s I heart them both during my various moods. Big-time bonus: Euclid Records doesn't reek of incense. I have to give this place a 4 star for the ambience and the great selection they have. But it gets a 1 star for prices. Way too high! As someone who buys records from across the spectrum - garage sales, Ebay, Discogs, Retail - I can tell you these guys have figured out how to cash in big time on the vinyl resurgence hype and the whole "local business" hogwash! I am all for supporting local businesses but not when they are overpriced like this to ripoff the consumer! Here's an example - I found 2 identical pressings of a Blue Note Jazz album that's not entirely hard to find online and a VG+ copy of said album can be procured for under $20 shipped, quite easily. Euclid had these priced at $30 and $45. Now I was hard pressed to tell the difference between these 2 knowing well that they were pressings from the same era. From a visual examination I would qualify both copies as "average" which would make them worth about 5 or 8 bucks in the marketplace. I tried to point this out to the person at the front desk (helpful gal) but she could not really articulate the reasoning behind these prices. At one point she pretty much said, the owner decides on the prices and they have no say in it! Again, the place itself is good - clean, well organized, good selection and a great vibe for a record store. But it appears to cater to yuppies looking to hang out at cool record stores than to serious buyers who know a thing or 2 about pricing of records. I prefer the Vintage Vinyl's of the world that may not be the cleanest or coolest place around but they are more reasonable with their prices and have a great staff who know a thing or 2 about their music! read more

Best record store in the Lou! I used to be a huge advocate for Vintage Vinyl, and I still get pretty giddy when I do make a trip to the Loop on a rare occasion. However, I recently made a stop at Euclid Records for a local music showcase, and I now see that this place is my music store of choice. Something that Vintage Vinyl lacks is a strong selection. I know that might sound odd, considering its size, but the place has been picked clean of most of the gems that I am in constant search for. On Sunday, I wandered Euclid Records between acts and became overwhelmed with grief, knowing that I could spend hundreds of dollars that day without much issue. And a younger, less responsible Christian would have done so! What a drag it is getting old . . . Also, I really like the location. Webster Groves is an area that I haven't explored a great deal, but if I had to live in the burbs, it would be my area of choice. And patrons seem to appreciate the location, too. Despite a projected move this spring, Euclid Records still plans on staying in the Webster Groves area, which I think is fantastic. I get the vibe from ER that they truly appreciate their clientele. It doesn't quite have the hipster thing going. During the showcase, they were handing out free drinks and offering all sorts of great deals. When shopping locally this Christmas, one might consider checking out Euclid Records. The cd and record selection is great, so it's the perfect stop for any music lover on one's list! Very happy to discover Record Exchange and Euclid here in my hometown. honestly, why go to overpriced Vintage Vinyl when you've got these two. Make the drive, it's worth it. Every record store I walk into, I always check the R&B section first as a litmus test. And Euclid passes with flying colors. I brought five records (one EXTREMELY hard to find Jackson 5 LP alongwith another J5 classic, Isaac Hayes and two from the dollar bin) for $27. I've gotten better price deals elsewhere but when it comes to the value and quality that I was searching for, I was very happy to swipe the credit card. I came to St. louis to exhibit a few coo, art cars at Webster University(and Venice Cafe!), and just kind of stumbled upon Euclid Records. It caught my eye since I used to live on Euclid Street in Berkelely CA, which had the famous Rather Ripped Records and the original Rasputin Records. Okay, so Euclid Records looked like a place worth stopping at. Great store and friendly, knowledgeable guys working there(owners?). They found a copy of the rare Diga Rythymn Band CD for me and then pointed me towards the vinyl room. Wow! So many jazz LP's, I was in heaven!! I found some great Brazilian jazz LPs and found a few cool LPs in the $1 bins. Overall a superb store, and makes me happy to know that there are a few clean, well-organized, well-stocked record stores out there still. I was saddened last eyar when the legendary Village Music in Mill Valley, CA closed(after 63 years!), but, as the owner John said "At least I out-lasted Tower Records." I can't describe how great it is to have such a fantastic record store that not only has a huge selection of vinyl and CDs, but also has the decency to not be located in The Loop. Euclid Records, located right in the heart of Webster Groves is by far my favorite place to purchase music in Saint Louis. The store is not huge, but their physical size does not effect their selection. You will be able to find both used and new vinyl and CDs of all varieties. My wife and I will walk in with no intentions to buy anything and walk out with Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" and a Fred Astaire album. I've been a huge Beatles fan since grade school and their selection of used Beatles vinyl is always changing. If you're really rich, you can even buy the mint condition Beatles albums they display on the wall. If you've ever seen High Fidelity, it's that kind of record store, but without John Cusack's baditude. No holier-than-thou hipster behind the register silently judging your purchases. I made my first trip to Euclid the other day on the recommendation of my uncle. He visited St. Louis on business and took an expensive cab ride out to the store and was raving about the selection. I will second his excitement about Euclid Records selection. I mostly was searching through the bins of used records and their selection of used jazz was incredible. Equally impressive were the used blues and world sections. All the records that I purchased were graded and priced reasonably. There clearly was no insane price gouging going on here. If you want some nice Blue Notes or Prestige pieces, this is the place in St. Louis. I will also say that it appears that they do a limited amount of Ebay and largely put quality product in their store instead of selling it online. I can safely say that Euclid will be a store that I frequent whenever I am in St. Louis. read more

So...I kind of have a new obsession. And for once, it has nothing to do with bread pudding or running. I know...shocker! I'm obsessed with The Blind Eyes. Ever since I saw their performance at the Midtown Alley Street Fest, I've been in love. Talk about upbeat pop/rock awesomeness! Think Ludo with less zombie/pterodactyl references. Anyway, when I found out via Twitter that copies of their latest release were in stock at Euclid, I knew I had to pick up a copy for myself. I pulled up to Euclid, found a parking spot on the street, and waltzed in with a goofy hipster grin. I was immediately wowed at the eclectic feel of the place. How strange that a place like this is in Webster Groves! I almost expect it to be in a different part of town, like the Loop, but then I remember that the Loop already has a place like this (Vintage Vinyl). There were lots of CDs, both new and used, and a HUGE selection of vinyl records. I also spotted some listening stations where people can test out the vinyl before they buy it. Pretty cool. Anyway, I grabbed the last copy of The Blind Eyes album, paid, and was on my way. I don't know that I'll frequent this place very often (truthfully, I buy most of my music online nowadays), but next time the urge to have a physical copy of a CD in my hand strikes, I know where I'll go. read more

This is not the place you want to go if you're in the market for a bunch of $3 bargains, but if there's a Max Roach record you really need and you're willing to pay what it's worth, Euclid Records is the best St. Louis has to offer.
