I was here briefly -- just had time to dig through the metal, punk, and half of the new arrivals section -- and as usual I dropped a decent amount of cash on records. I shudder at the thought of having an hour and a half to myself in here :) Staff were super friendly. Lots of desirable records on the "premium" space on the wall (I snagged one). Good tunes going on in the background. Prices were actually reasonable! I've had a lot of records to spin since I shopped there last Saturday and they're all in great condition. My wife and I are in town visiting her parents, so I carved out some some time to hit the record shops. When I lived in St. Louis from 2012-2014, I only frequented three record stores: Euclid, Apop and Vintage Vinyl. I'm not sure how long Planet Score has been around, but I don't remember seeing it, even though I lived right down the street. A Euclid employee actually recommended Planet Score after I asked if any local stores specialized in black/death metal (specifically CDs). He said they might not have exactly what I'm looking for, but that they typically get the most metal. This store is great! I almost walked out after a few minutes because I thought I was misled, but then I discovered a dedicated metal section. I actually found some used CDs of bands on my list. I spent way more money than my wife said was okay, but I couldn't resist (even put a few CDs back just to save a little). We're going back to Houston in a few days. I'll probably stop back by and pick up the other CDs I wanted, assuming they're still in stock. I honestly wish they were open at 10PM because I'd go back right now. Highly recommended!! *They have way more stuff than just metal. I'm certain almost no one would be able to leave this store without at least seeing something they want to buy. read more

This place is sick. Good selection, whoooole bunch of metal and hardcore LPs. So if that's your thing, like me, check this place out. Picked up the Butthole Surfers Locust Abortion Technician 10", and some tapes. Would be a 5 but their prices are all about retail, I like to dig in used stuff is all. I'd still recommend. read more

My entire life I have been obsessed with music. Growing up I had a few places I went for music but sadly they closed up. In a search for a new shop I tired all of the well known and established shops. All of them kinda left my feeling like something was missing. When I found Planet Score I knew I found the perfect record shop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff as well as a diverse and organised collection of music makes this my favorite place. Some of the gems I've found here I've never seen in person before or since. If you are looking for a tried-and-true record shop that doesn't over price or make you feel like a nuisance then I highly recommend them. read more

Absolutely love this place. Biggest thing I noticed is when we walked in, we were given a huge hello! I've been to many a place where I don't even get that so I was in a good mood to spend! They also asked if I needed help finding anything - so super friendly. I had a blast crate digging through their secret stash and had some fun finds. They had a real good selection and vinyl was clean and arranged really well. Prices were fairly spot on too! I can't wait to go back again, but it'll probably be awhile. Solid record joint for what it is. It may not have as much quantity as Record Exchange and not as much new records/cool factor as Vintage Vinyl, but it's a decent little shop with a decent amount of old records to peruse. I came in with a general idea of the type of records I was looking for and after only 15-20 minutes of searching I found a couple that fit my taste. The guy behind the counter was friendly and checked me out quick. Besides the wall of records they have CDs, old stere/record equipment, and DVD/Blurays. Basically, if you're looking to spend some time skimming over old media Planet Score is a fun place to spend a few minutes or a few hours. read more

A decent record store on Maplewood small business row. This is straight-up a music shop - just records, CDs, cassettes and some books. None of that pop-culture stuff that others sell or, unfortunately, stuff that you can care your vinyl collection with. The owner, or worker behind the counter, apologized for that, but he was cool all the way. The music is all organized; however, there's still lots of vinyl, tapes and CDs under all the tables so its one of those times where you feel tempted to go through all the boxes, if you know what I mean! They have a great selection, from old albums to past Record Store Day releases (whatever's left...), as well as a lot of local stuff. There's a small section dedicated to indie/punk from the past to present. They have reasonable prices, no matter if its used or new. Some popular CDs that came out...even 5 years ago...were placed on the bargain rack! (Ex. Justin Beiber's Believe was $2) Again, it's a great place to look around and definitely a great place to support a small business. read more
