    This is what I wanted

My stylist Marie.B did highlights and charged me for balayage ..so disappointed.cant even see any color it's all black..Don't waste your time and money.she said she could do exactly the picture I showed her and ended up not even doing 10% of what I asked and on top charged me for the wrong service and when asked she kept telling me that it can't be done ,should have told me when I showed her a picture I would have walked away.. I drove 100 miles just for this what a waste of time and money..and so disrespectful. They don't even care if you want to be a returning customer..i wanted it the way in the picture and my hair looks the exact same as it was before black. The owner said he is not willing to help me and dint care about me wanting to be a regular customer.

Girls women females in general, we all want to have good experience at a salon, and changing hair salons is one of the scariest experiences. I went today to ethos salon at clayton, keeping my hopes up, hoping it is not going to be like my previous experience at different salon 1 year ago. Yes one year ago, cuz god forbids for someone to cut my hair shorter than what i want or make a wrong hair cut. Well let me tell you this, i went to Ethos and left the salon a very happy customer. My hair dresser's name is Mary, super nice listens to concerns and give suggestions. She has soft hands, brushed my hair without pulling it, very attentive to details and gave my the perfect hair cut ‍, much appreciated. This is not all. Hair ritual starts by having hair and shoulder message followed by hair oil massage. Shampooing constitutes of using Aveda Shampura that smells really good, hair scrubbing and putting a hot towel after finishing shampooing. To add, cause customers also worry about the price.. do not worry, it is not expensive and worth the money. Over all, i had an excellent experience today. I really recommend the salon and Hair dresser Mary. Chapeau Bas

Phenomenal Outstanding Ethos Aveda Salon in the Heart of Clayton offers exceptional 5 Star Boutique Service. From complimentary covered garage parking (which is ideal in Clayton) to a choice of a mini- facial or hand massage during the sleep-inducing aromatherapy shampoo and mask application with neck massage Carrie expertly colored my hair to create the perfect golden hue and gave me a gorgeous gloss for an upcoming important event The Ambiance of this heavenly Spa is Beautiful, tranquil and relaxing. I felt pampered and honestly did not want to leave Thank you Carrie and Robert for providing Outstanding Spa Service, I am in Love with Ethos Aveda

This was my second visit here at the Ethos Aveda Salon in Clayton. BOTH experiences have been exquisite. I had the pleasure of meeting John Rodriguez who I must say is a phenomenal CEO and business owner of this location. Lauren Walton has done my hair both times and she is amazing at what she does. She is super cute, personable and professional. We discussed different ideas and she really took her time making me feel relaxed and at home. I absolutely love my hair and she will now be my go-to girl! If you really want to feel like a queen (or make your girl feel like one) go to this salon. Enjoy a relaxing mini facial or hand massage right after (my fave) the scalp massage. Thanks for giving life back to my hair before my trip to Mexico, Lauren. And thank you to John who always makes sure I'm well taken care of.

This salon is excellent. I would highly recommend Carrie. She has the best personality, is thorough, and is professional. She took her time, made me feel like a queen and I have the best hair cut of my life. The salon is beautifully decorated, with a very relaxing atmosphere. Everyone was inviting and made me feel very welcomed. A++ in every way. I most definitely will be returning.

This will be a long one, but thorough! Backstory: I just want to start by saying in the past I've been incredibly skeptical of going to salons in general. My cosmetologist friend yelled at me to start going so I wouldn't damage my hair. I went to salon after salon and wouldn't return mostly because the stylists would talk me out of cutting my extremely long hair because they were afraid I would hate it. Until this salon, I never went to the same place twice. Ever. So, after I moved, I went to an Aveda Salon close to my house and had a bad experience. My color faded quickly and again, the stylist nicely refused to chop off my hair. I knew I wasn't going back and I was hesitant when a friend recommended Ethos Aveda Salon. The Review: I made an appointment and got in pretty quickly. The salon was beautiful. Relaxing, chic, and the lady at the front greeted me and offered an assortment of beverages. Then, Cheryl. Omg, first and foremost, I told her I wanted something edgy and professional. SHE CUT MY HAIR OFF, like I asked and I was so happy someone LISTENED TO ME. Not only did she cut it, it looked awesome. She also dyed it a vibrant red and she made suggestions that made sense. She also explained what she was doing and why. After all was said and done, she did offer me products but I didn't feel like I -had- to buy something, even though I did. I booked another appointment. I went and everything was great a second time. We did touch ups and went a bit shorter on my hair. Tonight was my third visit. I decided to switch things up a bit on Cheryl and go brunette. We discussed it and decided on a color and i knew ahead of time with the vibrant red, I would still probably see some red after the new dye. But, my hair didn't take it like it should've. We did it a second time and it still didn't take. And I was panicking because it was getting close to closing time and I didn't want to keep the staff but I didn't want to leave in tears and be upset with the money spent. Especially because I'm leaving for vacation next week and wouldn't have time to come back in and didn't want to have to pay to come back in. Cheryl did it one more time and went a shade darker than our original plan and FINALLY, the red was minimal and didn't look like an Aveda color tornado reeked havoc on my head. After 2-1/2 hours, I am SO happy with the way it turned out. Cheryl is phenomenal with both cuts and colors. She spends as much time as needed to make you comfortable and make you happy with what you get. The only ding I have is just the price. I'm still acclimating to paying this much, but you get what you pay for, for sure. But, the whole Ethos staff is terrific, the atmosphere is awesome, the products are great and I never get tired of the way they smell. The results are simply top notch.

Unfortunately, the actual service I received was not what I paid for. I booked and paid $90 specifically for a curly haircut, which is a reasonable price in this area for a true curly specialist service. However, what I received felt more like a standard haircut rather than a curly cut. Before the appointment started, I thoroughly explained what I was hoping to achieve: more curl definition lasting beyond wash day, guidance on styling techniques, and a haircut tailored specifically for curly hair. Despite this, my hair was cut wet rather than dry, and there was no curl-by-curl shaping or specialized curly cutting technique used at all. As the appointment continued, several things made me question the stylist's experience level with curly hair. My stylist, Anna, seemed unprepared for the appointment. While styling, my hair was already drying and becoming frizzy in the front before products were even fully applied, and I had to point out that it needed to be re-wet. She also did not have her own diffuser and had to borrow one from coworkers. I had specifically mentioned that curl creams tend to weigh my hair down, but one was still used during styling. The diffusing process itself was also very uncomfortable, as I was instructed to hang the lower half of my body off the chair so my neck rested against the back of it. By the time my hair was almost fully dry, it honestly looked very similar to how it did when I walked in -- like I had showered, slept on wet hair, and done nothing else to style it. That was extremely disappointing after paying for a professional curly hair service. Anna could tell I was unhappy, and to her credit, she was kind and tried to fix things by washing the product out and attempting a blowout instead. Unfortunately, I still left with poorly styled hair. The face-framing pieces were going in different directions, and the overall result did not look professionally styled. I do want to emphasize that Anna herself was very sweet and pleasant throughout the appointment. However, when charging $90 for a curly haircut, a certain level of expertise and preparation is expected, and I do not feel that level of skill or knowledge was there. When booking, I specifically told the salon owner I was looking for an experienced curly hair specialist. I was told Anna was newer to the salon but had experience with curly hair and many happy clients. I truly hope this experience was just a one-off, but based on the multiple issues throughout the appointment, it did not feel like someone with advanced curly hair knowledge or technique. The owner did initially reach out afterward to try to rectify the situation, which I appreciated. However, after I responded, I unfortunately never heard back again. I had been very excited to come here because I've heard so many wonderful things about the salon, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I truly hope they take this feedback seriously because the salon itself has a great atmosphere and very kind staff.

Once I sat down, I showed him a picture of the haircut I wanted. He mentioned that product would be needed to achieve the texture, which I acknowledged. I told him to just try his best. After he was done the result looked NOTHING like the picture I showed him, I asked him about it. Bro was triggered so bad and started throwing these at me: "This is a professional salon not a kids salon go to your old barber" "I have plenty of WashU clients" "Zip it" WHEN I WAS SAYING NOTHING and the best one yet "never come back again I don't want to see your face" On top of that, he got irritated that I was occasionally looking in the mirror and at my phone to check on the process as if monitoring your own haircut is somehow offensive. At the end, he applied some powder to shape my haircut and to be honest this was not a super terrible haircut, although I thought my curtains could be more choppy like in the picture. However, I think my stylist lacks basic respect and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who expects to be treated with basic decency. Also, as my barber mentioned, the salon has a camera so if the owner sees this, feel free to check if this review is real(ensure nothing is edited out of context/no manipulative or deceptive editing). I went to this salon because a stylist I had been seeing for over a year moved here. She had been maintaining my cherry cola color for about a year, and when she moved to The Boulevard, I told her I wanted to start the process of going back to my natural level 6 brown. I understood that removing red is a process and specifically told her I was completely fine doing it over multiple appointments. I also asked if we could keep the first appointment within a certain timeframe because I had dinner plans, and she agreed. My appointment was scheduled for noon. When I arrived, I sat alone for 30 minutes without being greeted, consulted, or acknowledged by anyone before my stylist finally came over. The appointment ultimately lasted 7 hours, and I had bleach on my hair for approximately 3 hours. When I left, my hair was severely damaged. In fact, my stylist knew it didn't look right because as I was leaving, she told me to "wear a ponytail to dinner." That is not something you say to a client who just spent hundreds of dollars and received a successful service. I have since shown photos from that appointment to other licensed cosmetologists, and multiple have told me the damage was evident as soon as the foils came out. I have always taken excellent care of my hair, use professional products, and have never experienced damage like this. My hair is now rough, difficult to manage, and completely different from how it felt before. I can't run my fingers through it, my natural texture is gone, and it is genuinely unrecognizable to me. I was so upset that I spent the entire weekend crying and had to miss work on Monday. When I called the salon Monday morning, I was told the owner would contact me. I never received a call. When I called back two hours later, the owner suddenly answered. She offered a free treatment if I came in immediately, but the first thing she said to me in person was, "It's not that bad." After spending two days devastated over the condition of my hair, that was incredibly dismissive and upsetting to hear. The owner then told me that the original stylist would perform my next treatment and that I could pay for a new color service. I explained that after what happened, I believed I deserved both a refund and a corrective color service. The stylist refused a refund, and offered the color service for free. I agreed to this, and then stylist put red back on my hair, leaving me looking almost exactly as I did before I started this process, except now my hair is badly damaged and I am out $700. I came to this salon because I trusted my stylist and trusted the salon to guide me through this process responsibly. Instead, I have walked out feeling worse every single time. The most disappointing part is that the owner never apologized, never took accountability, and never made a meaningful attempt to make this right. I wish I had never come here. I am now left paying for the damage done to my hair, and multiple people who have seen the condition of it have told me I should pursue legal action because of how severe the damage is.
