I called around noon and they were able to fit me in at 4, couldn't find any other salon that would do that. Rachael is amazing. She did my color, cut, and conditioning treatment. The service was great and I LOVE what she did to my hair. I have been getting my hair colored for about 10 years and the color/highlight she did is probably my favorite. My hair was a complete mess after months of bad dye jobs but she completely fixed it and gave me exactly what I wanted - very impressive considering how awful my hair was going in to the appointment. I'm one of those people who is always too scared to get anything new done to her hair... but today, after months of contemplating, I took the plunge and got some pretty color in my hair. My schedule is quite unpredictable, so I called in this afternoon, and the stylist said she'd stay late for me to do my cut and color (because she thought it would be fun!). I came in and said approximately what I wanted but in honesty, I told my stylist to do what she thought would look good. All I can say was I am BLOWN AWAY. My balayage looks incredible and the girl who did my hair was so sweet and fun to talk to. I really appreciated her enthusiasm for her art, and she made me feel so special for getting the balayage done. I have never said this before, but I can't wait to make my next appointment. My previous stylist went MIA so I was in search of an Aveda salon and found Tiffany at Ethos. If you've never been to a true Aveda salon you're in for a treat. The shampoo room is in its own quiet space and included with your shampoo is a wonderful scalp massage with Lavender or Peppermint oil plus a mini facial or hand massage. Tiffany does a fantastic job with high & low lights, very natural look. I gave her free reign for a new short style cut recently and she did an amazing job! I am so pleased with Tiffany and Ethos. I love going to this salon. The atmosphere is amazing and the customer service is superb. My stylist is Carrie, and she does a phenomenal job! I am very particular with how I like my hair cut and she listens and gives advice exactly how someone of her caliber would. Her execution is stellar and she is always such a pleasure to be around! I have been going to her for a while now and she always asks me how I have been doing and is so welcoming! One of my favorite perks of the salon is the complimentary scalp massage which you can either choose lavender or peppermint oil. The peppermint oil is my favorite because of the tingly feeling it gives you during and afterwards! They also offer a hand massage and a mini facial if you are into that! The front desk women, (Melissa and Viktoria) always have a smile and help me with whatever I have a question with. Over all the salon is a very warm and welcoming salon with multiple price ranges accommodating every person. Had a horrible experience here! Hair stylist did not know how to layer hair! Yep. I was shocked too. I stated clearly in the beginning NOT to chop my hair above my shoulder and layer it so as not to make a blunt line. Guess what I get 15 minutes later? Chopped hair above my chin. My hair looked NOTHING like the picture I showed her in the beginning and I was NOT offered a refund. if you don't know how to do it, just tell me so i can go somewhere else. Don't proceed to ruin my hair especially since I work with people daily. Horrible experience. Would not recommend. I really appreciate telling people I went to Salon Ethos when they ask why my hair in back is uneven as well. read more

This may be pricey compare to great clips or other chop shops, but you get what you pay for. Sarah cut my hair recently into a very stylish cut that she picked for me, and I swear when I showered and then blew my hair dry, it went back into the shape it had been cut. I had to do very little touch up to get ready for my day. I am 71 years old so you know there is not a lot to work with. I am a working professional so how I look is important to me. read more

I love this salon....and I also love Aveda. My sytlist was Maron and she understood in a blink of an eye what I was looking for and made it happen. The prices are commesurate with others so forget that it's next to the Ritz. Also, for a great manicure I've been known to go next door to Lucy Lee with foils in my hair and get a gel manicure. I've been using Aveda products for quite some time and been very satisfied so far. I've also had great service, for the most part. Sadly, there's a male employee on the front desk (tuesday a.m.) who seems to believe that being sassy (in a very creepy way) with customers is "IN". I've never had service done at the salon (nor am i even interested in considering doing so, given the not-so-good things I've heard and read) but for the money I pay for products there, I expect I little professionalism from the front of the house. read more

I have used this salon for several years. I have always been happy with the pricing and more importantly, the stylists are exceptional. I have searched for a good salon in St. Louis for years, and Salon Ethos is the only salon that I have found at level consistent with cuts, color and styling that I have found in much bigger cities, like Chicago, New York and Las Vegas. I just took my two children today. Steve did a fantastic job with both my 11 year old daughter and 8 year old son. He has amazing talent, and both of the children were thrilled with the outcome. This is my all-time favorite salon I've ever been to in St. Louis (I've tried many) and anyone who asks where I get my hair done, I always tell them about the AVEDA Salon Ethos by the Ritz! :) After moving from Dallas after graduating college 6 years ago, I was back in St. Louis and needed a salon to keep up with my then super blonde Texas hair. I was at the Kaldi's in Clayton when I happened to walk by and notice the shop next door was an AVEDA salon! (And when it comes to hair care, AVEDA gives you the most bang for your buck! They have great salons in Dallas, too). When I had my first appointment I was BLOWN AWAY by the friendly staff. All of the professional staff are extremely detail oriented - true artists! They offered me smart recommendations when it came to my cut/color, a beverage as soon as I walked in (wine, water, tea, coffee, soda, you name it!) and told me to relax / kick me feet up! I get my hair colored/highlighted so appointments can take a while - but I honestly look forward to every minute of it. The products smell AMAZING and it's so nice not having to process your hair under any heat (AVEDA products are not heat activated which is MUCH better for your hair). After seeing the same hair dresser for about a year at this salon (LOVED HIM) - he left to move home and recommended Carrie (THE BEST) -- who is absolutely gifted at what she does! Not only is she great at her job, but Carrie is such a delight to talk to. I look forward to seeing her every time I have an appointment - which makes it really fun (I usually spring some crazy hair thing on her and she's always up for a change or challenge). After my hair is finished processing, Carrie always offers me a hand massage or a mini facial (I'M NOT KIDDING). This part is AMAZING - they use all of these fantastic products that smell amazing and literally get rid of any stress you might have that day. As I'm writing this I'm already dreaming about my next appointment! Carrie is also really gifted at styling hair. I've gone to her for a pre-wedding glam session and to help curl my ridiculously straight hair before an event. She's amazing :) They whole team at Salon Ethos is very organized and I really couldn't ask for a better experience. Pricing is VERY fair -- which is of course important. At first my haircut looked alright but then it grew into a mullet.The girl left a lot in back but took a ton off the top. Not worth $35. Rude service. I was ignored for 10 mins even though I had an appointment. DOn't ask for a soda while waiting unless you want a mean look from the hostess. And there is only 1 tiny bench that seats 2 ppl uncomfortably as a waiting area. I'd been in once before to buy products because the products are good and natural so points for that but service was not good that time either. read more

My experience there was a form of torture. The hairdresser was excellent and very pleasant. But I was forced to listen to loud, hideous, and offensive "music." Ethos Aveeda is a wonderful salon. Friendly staff greets you with a beverage of choice, my stylist is excellent and they provide a mini facial or hand massage with your hair services. I've been a client for more than a year now and was delighted that it was recommended to me by the Aveeda store at the mall. I moved from out of town and had fully expected to have to shop around but instead fell in love after my first visit. Steven Moss was my stylist and he is absolutely the most capable, curly hair stylist I've ever been to. I have tried other salons that supposedly "specialize" in curly hair, and haven't had anywhere near the results that I got with Steven. He took his time, listened to me deliberate about what I wanted and gave his professional opinion when I asked. I felt relaxed and pampered and the final result was excellent. I went to aveda 4 days ago,everybody was nice,I mean the manager and the girl who did my facial.i liked it,it was so relaxing except than my face started to break out.:(I think it was too much oil massage,and she picked my face little bit and then facial massage. After reading a highly complimentary review online by a woman my age ( over 65 ) I made an appointment with Sara. My first visit went OK so I kept my second appointment with the same caveats as before - that I must be able to tie my hair back and that I didn't have the expertise, inclination or time to spend hours doing my hair ( it needed to be an easy process of blow drying it on low as I have psoriasis of the scalp or air drying it during an outbreak and styling it with a Perfector ). This time she texturized AKA layered my hair. I can't tie it back and it will take years to get it back to a style that I can manage. Thanks to her I will spend the next 2 weeks of a vacation in a ball cap. Don't go to her unless you want your hair butchered ! read more
