The friendly guy assisted us with our purchases, going over some of the options there for the others who weren't as familiar with the cookies. I personally got a quarter of a pound of their Almond Cookies, where a pound was $12, and based on the flavor and price, I soon regretted my small purchase. The biscuit was a shortbread-like cookie, presumably made from ghee. I think it falls under the category of nankhatai, but there is another pastry with the same name on their menu, so perhaps it's a variant? The biscuit had a soft texture, but not so much that it crumbled immediately. In this case, there were almonds throughout, and there was a faint but lovely cardamom flavor along with a mild sweetness. It was delicious and fully worth the purchase, as I think I got seven or eight of them for $3. Otherwise, I had a piece of someone else's Cream Roll, a puff pastry with fresh-made buttercream filling. It was $2.50, and the pastry had a nice, soft texture. Just like my dessert, it wasn't overly sweet or rich, and I liked it as well. The other person got a larger mix of pastries, and from what I've heard, they enjoyed it. I'm kind of relieved I'm nowhere near this place, as I would stop in frequently. Friendly and helpful staff, low prices, and excellent pastries. What's not to like?
