this seems somehow to be the perfect name for this place. i feel like if we were to all take a brief moment and imagine together a woman named ethel, that firstly, this woman would look very similar to your neighbours recently birthed image, and that that image, that woman, is exactly the woman who would own, use, have owned, want to one day own all the furniture and doodads that are in her self titled store.
lets get even more specific. do you even know someone named ethel? is she older than you? (likely yes). is she still alive? (perhaps no.) thats because she was in her prime before we had television, surely the computer.
thats what this store is. its filled with ethel. nothing too nutty; in fact most things would have been quite common in her time. popular even. and now, vintage ethel, you might say.
ethels showroom is spacious and white and nothing fancy. ethel has made an effort to be festive for the holidays though, pardon me.
ethel also has a few choice objects that are not for sale but only for rent, like a motel sign, or a television - perhaps the first type of model that ever was.
now, ethel being somewhat modest, makes sure that the prices for her collection are not too hefty, and yet she wont allow anyone to take her for a ride in their car if you know what i mean. ethels just.
ethels house guest, however, sitting there with his computer, his new things, seems out of place lets say and gives you the impression that hes ethels unwilling lodger and has to eat too many of her casseroles. could have been having a bad day as all of us do.
overall, though, for a little bit of those-were-the-days, this is a fine place. read more
