I had a tattoo done here 20 years ago, when it was a storefront parlor with all the work being done in an open floor space. A lot has changed. If you come here at night, you might think you're walking into a punk/metal club. The decor in each booth shows off the personality of the artists. But, don't freak at the skulls and horror movie statues: these are some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. Assuming you're here for a tattoo, your first stop will be looking at the books by artists here so you can see what kind of work they do. Some of the artwork is so beautiful and elaborate that you could make a print and hang it in a museum. The guy who did my work was Matt Black. We exchanged texts with my sketch of the design I wanted, and his ideas for how it would work. After seeing his work in the book, I shouldn't have been surprised, but the artwork he did was beautiful. I couldn't have imagined that my crude sketch would turn into something so impressive. I just got back from Las Vegas, where a tattoo parlor wanted to charge $250 for an hour of work; this was a place rated as a $$ price, which is crazy. The people out there are no better than the people here. Matt did my tattoo in about 2 hours, and it cost $250. Don't feel like you have to spend a fortune on a tattoo, and definitely don't go to a cheap place to save a few bucks. Eternal Tatoos will give you art that will stand the test of time. read more

Had a 5pm appointment with Steve Webster tonight to re-color some of his work and I'm leaving without anything done. I waited for this appointment, took the time off of work. I waited 2 and a half hrs. He has terrible time management because of personal problems. He was late for 2 previous appointments. Get it together Steve. You didn't even stand behind your work. I have a sun flower that isn't even yellow anymore on one side and scarring on one of the petals that he already went over 2x's. read more

So I can't review the actual work that was done because no work was done. My friend scheduled an appointment for the two of us for a Sunday at 12:30pm (she made the appointment and dropped designs off the Thursday before). 12:30 Sunday we get there and the door is locked so we started to walk around to the back before someone came and unlocked the door. We get inside and our artist is there, and he comes out to talk to us and go over things, mine was a simple one, a 3 word tattoo, while my friends was more detailed. So we sat, waiting. Finally, at 1:15pm (45 minutes after our original appointment time) he takes me to his area and puts the design on and then says "it needs to dry for a few minutes" and we wait until nearly 1:30pm before my friend had to go find someone else to go get him (he was out back smoking), and at that point we just decided it wasn't worth it. The artist spent more time on his phone when he should have been finishing up the design in the almost hour that we were waiting. Went up the street to another shop, were taken in right away, and very happy with the results. read more

Anybody looking to get a piercing- COME HERE AND SEE JESSICA! I can't recommend her enough. She is TRULY the most dedicated, compassionate and talented piercer I've ever met. Not only that, she makes you feel COMFORTABLE. She is easy and fun to talk to, which helps so much if you're nervous about getting a piercing. This girl will do everything in her power to make sure you 110% LOVE your piercing. She has stayed almost 2 hours past close with me on multiple occasions just because she takes her time and truly cares about the outcome of your piercing. Five stars all the way. This is my second tattoo from Eternal, and have nothing bad to say. My first tattoo, three years ago, was awesome, and the tattooist (Rob) did a great job. This time, I got a new tattooist (Steve), and pretty much left him to do what he wanted with the ideas I gave him. About the first one, he did my tattoo spot on, so well in fact, the Lava Lite company heard wind of it, and wanted pictures. I'm a lava lamp collector, and had one tattooed on my left leg/outer thigh. The tattooist, unfortunately, no longer works there, and my new tattooist incidentally takes up his booth. From the minute I walked in with this last tattoo, to the end of execution, was a total breeze. I gave him some photos, and with out any contact, came back a week later for the appointment. He showed me what he drew up, and it was better than imagined. The first tattoo was quoted 4 hours but took six, this tattoo was quoted 6-8 hours but took only 5 1/2 hours. If I can get photos of both, I'll share them. The new tattoo was done by Steve Pelky, so if you see him, your in good hands. Sorry for the odd post, I just typed as it came out of my brain. P.S.: one thing I forget to add... this shop ONLY does custom tattoos. They have no pictures on the walls like some lesser shops, so keep that in mind. read more

I was never a fan of tattoos especially when they became a fade. Every hip hop artist, basketball player and rebellious teen had them. When my ex-husband told me he wanted our son's face tattooed on his arm I was thinking, OK, here comes the mid-life crisis thing, except he wasn't mid life yet. So at the suggestion of a relative we head over to Eternal Tattoos. Extremely professional is all I can say. Cleaner than any salon I had ever visited. He worked with Marshall Bennett and his artistry is truly amazing. Best work I have ever seen. We simply took a photo of our son and he drew it. Detail for every detail. It was truly an amazing experience and I have since changed my attitude regarding tattoos. Marshall is the best! read more

They r a rip off. I showed Matt black what I had an what I wanted. My tat had previous wing. I showed him what I wanted. He'd have to go over the previous tat to detail it to match my other side. He said he can do it. When I went in person. He reassured me he'd he will do what I was asking. When I went in for the tat I explained again w pic of how I wanted it to come out. All he said was yes he'll do it. he took not even an hr and said he was done. For $150 he added 1 small row of detailed wings that match my other side and said he was done. When I said it's not what I asked for. U can tell he was on something and said it'll be a lot more to fill the whole wing in w the detail like my other wing. He's a drunk/drug addict fraud. He lied, but took my money and did what he wanted. Didn't even ask for I'd or paper work. When I questioned everything that he didn't do he took my money and threatened to call the cops if I didn't leave. Other tat artist said worth $50. read more

I got a piercing here back in the summer. My boyfriend and I decided spur of the moment piercings and walked in. Unfortunately the piercer was not there so we waited, but he arrived about 20 minutes after we got there. My boyfriend and I are very open people and our piercer was also but very professional as well. The shop was very clean and all tattoo artists' work was laid out on the table in photo albums. Probably the worst service I've had in a long time. The man who was supposed to do my tattoo showed up the time of the appointment. (I was early so that was my own fault, but I was trying to be nice because he told me a lot of people showed up late, or not at all) Though he didn't bother to call me, or the shop and say that he was sick. I had to wait an hour and a half to be tattooed by a total d-bag(steve) Everyone asked if I needed help, but I only talked to the person that did my tattoo twice. He kept asking me if I was nervous, which I wasn't until he repetitively asked me if I was. A few minutes if I start bawling my eyes out. He kept telling me to just calm down, and then refused to turn on music when I said it would help me calm down. He literally said, "No, I can't do that. Nope, it won't help. You just need to calm down.". After he said he was done with the outline, I told him I wanted to stop because it was starting to hurt too much. He told me he wasn't going to let me leave with a half finished tattoo, and that I could handle it. I was there to get a memorial tattoo for my father, so it was an emotional time already. To be treated in such an apathetic manner was appalling to me, and made the overall experience horrible. Not to mention I had to pay a hundred dollar deposit and was told I'd get to pay twenty dollars less when it came time for the payment. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I paid 199 dollars for about a 2" x 4" tattoo, and service that left me crying the entire ride home. I've been to the howell location, and not once was I ever treated like that. Sam (the piercing artist) is always professional, very informative, makes you feel more than comfortable when being serviced, friendly and quick! I got two tattoos done by Dave at Eternal in December and was not impressed. He was unprofessional and there's no way I'd go back. Dave never introduced himself or bothered to ask me my name. I also like to be in the room when the tattoo artist is setting up the guns so that I know they've been sterilized and all that. He made me wait out in the waiting room - I still have no idea why. On top of all that, BOTH TATTOOS ARE SLOPPY. I went into Eternal because I'd heard good things about it. I was trying to get two tattoos: one was a single word in my own handwriting and the other was two words in a font that I wasn't sure about yet. When I went in there I planned on going through each artist's book to see whose style I thought would work best.. I wasn't set on getting it done that day, I just wanted to check out my options first. When I walked in they assigned me a tattoo artist who wasn't busy at the time (Dave). I didn't want to be rude and I thought that since he worked there he couldn't be too bad, so I gave it a shot. Instead of doing the tattoo in my own handwriting, which he could've easily traced, he insisted on rewriting it himself. When I told him the first time that it wasn't close to what I'd drawn, he seemed irritated. The same thing happened with the second tattoo and he even said "I don't' think we're seeing eye to eye on this." I thought about walking out and now wish I had. We finally worked out the font on the second tattoo, and my first tattoo was close to what I'd drawn, so I said it was fine and we started. For the second tattoo, I only wanted the outline of the letters. He finished that and then said it looked incomplete and that he thought it would look better with shading. I was hesitant but agreed when he said he would add a little bit to the top and bottom of each letter. The tattoo was on my shoulder so I couldn't see exactly what he was doing, but when I looked down he'd filled in almost the entire thing and left a skin tone strip through the middle - not at all what I'd wanted. It looks like a biker tattoo which is not at all what I wanted. He didn't bother to ask me how I felt about it. I feel like both of my tattoos he designed how he would want them to look on him, which is stupid because he isn't going to have them on him for the rest of his life. He seemed insulted when I wanted my tattoo in my own handwriting. I even offered to write it on the stencil paper and he was like "No I can do it." It was totally unprofessional and he seemed like a stubborn little boy. I get that part of it was my fault, but you'd think that after however many years Dave would be more professional.
