I went in in early March with my friend to get a helix piercing. My friend had trouble finding her ID, eventually having to go outside and look for it in her car/call her mom to find it, which she never did. While this was happening the staff member I was sitting with was very impatient and unprofessional, at one point also asking me "Where's her f*cking ID?" I left the building with a little spike helix piercing, thinking it looked good. However, within the week, the spike had COME OFF. it's not a twist-off (even if it was, I never would've been able to find it) it actually just like... popped off. After that, I didn't want to accept that I had flushed $70 down the toilet, so I flipped it around and would press it in every hour or so because, even still, without the spike, it would sink into my ear and close the hole. This was a very painful addition to my piercing journey. And this morning, when I woke up, the whole thing was gone and the hole was closed. I'm very, very, unhappy about my piercing, and if I could go back in time, I would've gone somewhere else. read more

i hate leaving negative reviews but lauren fucked my shit UP. unless you like paying like $200 to lose your whole damn epidermis, paying to see your pcp and get antibiotics, then paying a different artist to make your skin presentable again over multiple months, i can't say i recommend getting a tattoo here, at least not from lauren. she overworked my skin so badly that half the tattoo fell out, and once my skin finally grew back, i dm'd her to ask about her touch-up policy, only to be left on read. i get that we all have bad days, but her bad day is now my permanent problem, and i get that not everyone is great about responding to messages, but ffs, you're running a business where you stab people repeatedly with needles, you need to lock tf in. now that my skin's healed enough to stand up to tattooing again, i've started seeing another artist to get this wreck sorted out. they were horrified at how badly overworked my skin had been and said they'd only ever seen that happen on very old people because y'know their skin is basically made of tissue paper at that point. given the damage, the tattoo will need multiple touchups, with a couple months in-between each to let the skin rest and heal. thankfully this artist is very easy to get ahold of and promised to make it right. still, it's a very expensive and long-lasting headache, no? read more

Great tattoo artists-I didn't get a tattoo from them yet but both times when I went in, but I saw really good tattoos on people as they were walking out out of the lobby. I've had piercings by both of the two female piercers they have and they were both super friendly, very knowledgeable, helped calm my nerves, explained how to take care of my piercings thoroughly, and my piercings have been healing really good-not to mention they look really good and I get a lot of compliments. I've been here to get tattoos a couple times and love the tattoo artist. But i just recently went for a belly button piercing and had a terrible experience. I didn't even get let into the shop. A lady was smoking outside and asked if she could see my belly button and before she even got close enough she denied piercing it because i don't have the "right anatomy". I had my sister there with me (same exact belly button, with a piercing) and she still said no. She continued smoking telling me that i can't get it done. Worst place ever. You do the work you should do the touch up on your work. I go In today for my touch up appointment to be told by the artist Wyatt she won't service me and tells me that I made racist remarks that all brown people look alike. First off I don't even use the term brown people and then tells me I was drunk when she did my tattoos. I had 3 beers before going there, I was hardly drunk. The work took 3-4 hours for 3 minimal tattoos. You don't personally know me or my personality, I just happen to be a very happy outgoing person. If there were these 2 supposed issues then why didn't she stop tattooing if I'm a racist drunk? They already had my money and it didn't stop you from accepting my tip as well. I needed help with the jewelry in my already existing forward helix piercing. I thought it would be easy to change out the jewelry myself and was wrong. I went into Rockstar with a lot of questions. Hoping they could help me out. The receptionist was really helpful and patient. She tried her best to see what we could do about getting short posts with large shiny gems. Mid process piercer CJ Jerome came out and joined in. All my questions about sizing and jewelry options both in their stock and elsewhere were answered thoroughly and patiently. Yours truly Adam Jameson took advantage of not only me but my best friend as well. We got this monstrosity on our arms on February 24th of 2021. Buckle in ladies and gents, I got a story for you guys! My best friend and I decided to get matching tattoos to symbolize our friendship. We wanted a wolf, tree of life, and our zodiac signs incorporated within the tattoo. We spent months trying to find a good artist who will actually do a good job but won't be outrageously expensive. So we ended up finding someone (NOT Mr. Jameson. Someone else at a different tattoo shop) who would do the tattoo for 500$ with a 100$ deposit. Well the night before the tattoo appointment he decided to tell us that he switched shops and asked if we could do the tattoo on 2-25-21 @ 2:00pm. This couldn't be possible because my best friend moved to South Carolina and she flew up here to get the tattoo on the 23rd and her plane leaves on the 25th at 10:00 am. He then told us that he is now charging 200$ an hour and that it would take 3-4 hours each... that's definitely not the price we agreed on previously.. I don't care how much the tattoo is but let me know how much it is so I can save up the money. He also sent me the designs for the tattoo (the night before our appointment) it was NOTHING like what we said we wanted... We gave him a few chances to fix it but it's like he wasn't listening to what we wanted, he just wanted to do his own thing or he just didn't want to do the tattoo for us. the tree of life had some kind of DNA strand on the bottom and to be honest, the only thing we really liked about his design was the wolf.. everything else... Was mediocre at best... definitely not worth 800$ (if it took 4 hours to complete). So we tried to find another shop to do the work.. we woke up at 7:30am and started googling tattoo shops... we called/drove around when places opened and finally found Adam Jameson at Rockstar Ink who would see us. We canceled the appointment with the previous artist and we for sure we're getting tattoos by Adam who was only charging us 200$ each for the whole tattoo (minus the wolf). So ever since Adam did the tattoo back in February I wanted to cry my eyes out every time I looked at my arm because on paper (before we got the tattoo) it was perfect. Exactly what we wanted! He stenciled it out on my arm, PERFECT! Started doing the tattoo, lines are all crooked... tree is just a blob... and this is on BOTH of our arms now. This was supposed to be my first tattoo... it was supposed to be meaningful to the both of us.... I am a medical professional... And this piece on my arm... it looked so bad.... Adam took advantage of me and my friends situation and for what? 200$...? I say situation because my friend already bought her plane ticket for 300$ and we planned on getting the tattoo on the 24th but because the previous artist wasn't listening to what we wanted, we went to Adam to see if he could do it. If we couldn't find someone to do the tattoo on the 24th we were just not gonna get it done and we would have planned a tattoo for a different time with someone who knows what they're doing. Adam clearly didn't know what he was doing. I got the tattoo fixed by a different artist, AT A DIFFERENT SHOP, and now I'm not crying myself to sleep and gained some confidence back.. I didn't even feel comfortable wearing a short sleeve shirt for months until a REAL tattoo artist fixed what Adam fucked up on. My friend, unfortunately is back in South Carolina, and plans on having the same tattoo artist who fixed Adam's fuck up, to do hers as well. But who knows when she will be back in Michigan? It's sad that this horrible tattoo is now only on her arm. This was supposed to be something meaningful to the both of us and Adam fucked the both of us over BIG time! Moral of the story. If you actually want a good artist. Do better research AND LOOK AT THE PORTFOLIOS! (They didn't even have them displayed at the shop... I know.. should have been our first clue to get the fuck out of there...) Don't be like my friend and I and let this pathetic excuse of an artist touch you with a needle. read more

This place was so incredibly unprofessional. First things first, a handful of years back, I'd gone in. I had the top and bottom of my belly button pierced already. I wanted the sides pierced as well (so all 4 sides were pierced). They said no problem, and got to it. When they pierced it, it wasn't straight across but completely crooked! It looked so disgusting. When I told them, they said I could come back and get it redone. I went back to get it redone, and they did it again, over the old piercing OUCH and again it was crooked! So the third time I went in, they promised to get it right..... and it was crooked again. They literally could not pierce in a straight line. I ended up just taking it out. More recently I got a little tattoo on my hand. It's a little coffee cup. It's supposed to be adorable. But NONE of the lines are uniform! The left side is super thick and the right side is thinner, and you can see where there was a slip up, and the little heat lines above the cup literally smush together and don't even look like lines, because they were so thick. I'm pretty angry about that so I never went back. I now go to Wonderland Tattoo in St. Clair Shores, and they have seriously just been amazing. :) read more

Had my rook pierced here a few months ago and have gone through months of pain and blood blisters. Went to a new piercer for my industrial to not only find out that my rook wasn't pierced on the correct angle, but that they took a straight barbell and bent it themselves to make it curved. Pain of the piercing itself, months of pain only to have to remove it, and now have to wait a year to pierce it again the correct way! Please, be smarter than I was and make sure you're using a well trained/experienced piercer! Forgot to add how I requested a snug piercing and he gave me a shitty "faux" one! Four months later, still swollen, not healed at all, and sad I didn't realize how much pain and pressure it gave me until I felt the relief after it was removed. read more

My boyfriend and I got our nostrils pierced in April of 2021 by the same piercer. I was given a stud and he was given a hoop. It's been over a year and my piercing has not healed. This piercing was not my first rodeo, I've had over a dozen on my body without issue, including a nose ring on the other nostril that I've had since 2014 and no problems. I use the same exact jewelry on both piercings at the same time, yet only the newer one gets sore. I've tried every type of nose ring, but it eventually makes my piercing site get sore, sometimes inflamed. I've done every proper step of aftercare for over 6 months at first. My boyfriend also has an issue with his nostril. It is pierced at a bad angle so it has been impossible for him to get nose hoops in. I had to go out of my way to buy specific nose rings not available at the shop, which are D-shaped nose hoops, they sit more straight inside of the nostril and the outside has a curve. I'm disappointed because I've spent $100s on getting matching nose rings since I have both nostrils done, but eventually the newer one just starts to hurt. Over half of that amount I've spent at the shop, because I didn't want to fault them for the piercer's mistake. I only stopped buying nose jewelry because they didn't sell the D-shaped hoops I needed. read more

Came here to get my medusa pierced. Called before coming to see what time they Closed and the woman on the phone was very friendly. Came in and sat there chatting for a couple minutes with her and another guy at the front desk. Both were cool and Easy to talk to. Smiley did my piercing and made me feel very comfortable. I got a tattoo here last week, while the tattoo artist was very nice and very informative. The young guy behind the counter was very rude. He didn't greet us and didn't even get off the counter he was sitting on. One lady came in asking for what the price would be for a paw print tattoo and after she left, one of the artist and the young man behind the counter started to make fun of her choice of tattoo and how stupid it was. Right in front of me and four other customers. It made the whole experience sorta awkward, and made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. I went to Rockstar to have the initials of my children added to some dead space within an existing tattoo. I was able to walk in on a Saturday afternoon and be seen without an appointment or a problem. Unfortunately, the dead space proved too small to work with, but Mark (the artist) had a recommendation to put them around it instead. After picking a font and sizing it up on the computer, Mark was very meticulous about his stencil placement, correcting it once because it wasn't level to the other set of initials. I appreciate that kind of care one has for their craft. That let me know right away I'd found a good artist. Once the work began, Mark was very professional and friendly. When he switched from one ink to another, he de-gloved, got an entirely new needle and re-gloved. The entire establishment is immaculate, and Mark's license and accreditation is on display. The tat literally took 5 minutes - I know this because he finished it in the running time of a Metallica song ("Nothing Else Matters", in case you're curious). When he was done, he offered to freshen up the tat the initials surrounded at no extra cost, which only took another 10 minutes, tops. Did not balk at all about the price and tipping as well. Quality work deserves a reasonable reward. Even better, somehow, he was able to tat me without turning the area into a mess; when I removed the bandage, there was minimal blood, and there hasn't been any since, nor any swelling or itching. When I moved to Michigan, I left behind an awesome studio, and I've been reluctant to get new ink because finding a new studio is difficult. It's not like a restaurant, where a bad experience the one night. But Mark was a fantastic artist and Rockstar is a great place to get a tattoo. All my future ink will be done there. read more

I have went to Rockstar (Cezar) for two of my tattoos and he did a fantastic job. it's clean inside and the people are very friendly and make you feel welcome. Both times, I walked in and had a concept, but did not have an example or sample and Cezar drew exactly what I wanted. Also, in this arena you really do not want to go for the cheapest option, but he was insanely inexpensive for the work he did. I came here 3 differant times to get 4 piercings done. Every single one turned out horrible. Non of them were straight. When I got my tregus done he used such a big ring it wouldn't even go down.it stayed sideways. The rings they use also tend to break for no reason. My nipples have horrible scars and you can tell how crooked they were. Same thing with my bellybutton. None of my piercings came out straight. None of my friends tattoos came out right, and whoever is leaveing all these great reviews probably works there. read more

Terrible terrible - Brian I think his name was sucked at changing my tragus piercings first when I told him that I wanted it changed from a bar to small hoop he said " why do you have to give me all the hard ones" and I was super confused - like really? No confidence.... Anyways - he struggled for like 10-15 mins and I told him I would just go some where else . So that got him to get the jewelry in but he made them bleed and hurt me - ( never even bleed when I got them pierced by Joe at Rockstar ) and he dropped my jewelry on the ground . He also pierced my nose which was the worst pain I have ever experienced from a piercing - I have had many piercings in previous years - (nose, laberet, monroe, nipples twice, belly button , both tragus , lip three times ) my nose was bleeding everywhere and took forever to heal and it still hurts if jewelry goes in a certain way when changing it - I got it done back in January. --- I guess you get what you pay for - $25 aint worth it - I could have done a better job myself at home - Never again will I go back and I hope they get shut down - not professional at all. read more

I wish at this point I could give them a negative 100! I have gone there for a couple tattoos and getting ready for a larger one that seems to be too difficult for Smilie to handle. Instead of them calling you in advance they wait until the hour before you arrive to tell you this isn't going to work. Was promised a call before today to approve the drawing since he was going to hand draw it and never heard a word even after leaving a message. There way of handling an upset customer is hanging up on you and blaming you for not leaving a deposit. The artist said since I was a regular at this point I wouldn't need to leave one or I certainly would have. Not the first bad experience either.
