Estia Henley Beach - *Second* Best Greek Food of My Life. (After Greece!) Period. Went here for my birthday and honestly... I'm still thinking about it. Estia is hands-down the fanciest and most authentic Greek restaurant I've ever been to. From the moment we walked in, it felt like a getaway to the Mediterranean -- ocean views, warm lighting, and that relaxed Greek island vibe. We ordered the saganaki, chargrilled octopus, kleftiko lamb, and spanakopita -- every single dish was perfection. Like, flavour explosion, melt-in-your-mouth, zero-faults kind of good. The loukoumades and baklava for dessert? Unreal. Sweet, crispy, soft -- 10/10. Service was next-level. Super friendly staff, quick service even though it was packed, and they surprised me with a free dessert for my birthday! The staff made me feel like family. Not cheap, but totally worth it. My husband and I just tried this place from a recommendation of our Airbnb owner. We didn't have a reservation and they were packed. We were seated immediately and treated like we were long time customers. The food was great. We had shareables for two of us. Dip with pita, spanakopita, and grilled cheese with olive oil and lemon. The only thing better than the food was the service and the view of the ocean from an outdoor table was wonderful. Quite possibly one of the best meals of my entire life. For perspective, we ate here after 5 days straight of terrible greasy spoon diner style food on Kangaroo Island and were desperate for some seafood that wasn't deep fried to oblivion and it's possible I wept at some point while I was scarfing everything down. Regardless, the food was fantastic, as was the service and I would be willing to visit Adelaide again for this restaurant alone. Came here for dinner with friends. The restaurant was very busy with most of the tables reserved. We were able to get a seat and had a great meal. We ordered food to share with the whole table and got to sample a lot more different items. Mmm Greek food. There isn't too many Greek restaurants around Adelaide, especially with such a great location like this one. Estia scored an awesome spot in Henley Square (which is my favourite beach area) pretty much right on the sand with awesome water and sunset views. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with the outside able to be closed off. Estia is always busy, especially during summer, so make sure you book. As for the food, I'm a big fan of Greek, and not just yiros' and feta but the menu at Estia is so extensive and the banquets with a group are the best way to try everything. I'll always remember going there for the first time and having some sort of grilled chicken. I think all I ate was grilled chicken that night.. I am a big chicken fan! But Estia is an awesome restaurant down by a slightly less busy beach area than Glenelg and is in a perfect spot to enjoy a long banquet with friends then walk it off down a lovely beach. read more

I have often passed this establishment during regular visits to Henley Square and have wanting to make a time to eat there. Appearing consistently busy demonstrates to me it's popularity and being rarely free of time have neglected to make time.I decided that I would book a table on Saturday for dinner with the family to finally experience it first hand. The efficiency of the booking process it the first great sign. An SMS received withing 10 seconds of calling to confirm the booking and another the day before to confirm. On arrival a very friendly greeting (this place welcomes you and it appears the staff are actually happy to have you - great sign). We are seated and given menus, the specials board is highlighted and given a chance to get comfortable. Shortly after the offer of drinks (everything as expected so far) and then the chance to listen to answers of any questions we have regarding the food on offer and some suggestions. When ordering they were extremely flexible. A tasting plate of entrees or a share platter of Dips is suggested - we utilise the dips options which we have served with warm Pitta bread - delicious - We had an eight year old, so a "make up plate" of what he would like is happily arranged, My wife can't decide on a choice of 2 options, so they offer to proved a combination of both, I make use of the King George Whiting on special and the last member chooses the Chicken Livers (rare to find at many places) All the food was brilliant and can say we were all delighted with our choices - A bottle of Fox Creek Short Row Shiraz (at a reasonable price) and because it was my birthday a complimentary Ouzo on ice. Things have obviously changed at Estia...for the worse.... We were asked twice if we had been to Estia by the service staff before we were given our menus which took us as a little odd. I hadn't, my partner had. In the end to save confusion we said "no we have not been here before". We were promptly informed that the style had changed to "more like a tapas style" where you order a bunch of stuff and share. This is where things fall apart. For starters tapas is lots of small dishes that are usually reasonably priced. The dishes offered at Estias menu are standard menu prices ranging $10-$25. We ordered 3 dishes and promptly recieved a small claybowl of tasteless Lima bean mush and a tiny platter of Octypus, sausage and garnish... No bread, no anything, not even salt and pepper to add flavour to where it was lacking. Staring back at us was a sad pair of food offerings neither of us were excited about. $21.50 for 6 small slices of Grilled Octypus and a wedge of lemon....crazy....highway robbery. Coming in at a little over $77 including a crappy bottle of wine, we were both sadly disappointed feeling cheated and well still hungry!!. I ate when i got home.... Obviously being an experienced chef I know when a Restaurant manager/owner is doing a money squeeze on his patrons (over xmas.....nice!). Real shame. Very very very disappointed. Estia is the place to get your Greek on. Situated in Henley Beach-side surroundings, the food here will transport you to an idyllic Greek island scene. Although slightly biased, I believe that Greek food at its best, is the best. At Estia ordering the banquet secures you get a little taste of everything, because believe me, you will want to. The food here entails a selection of mouth watering Greek delicacies mixed with Mediterranean flavours. You must try the saganaki (pan cooked cheese), however it is all pretty damn good. I am not even going to begin with dessert. The Mediterranean diet, and Estia also remains sensitive to people with special diet restrictions such as vegans and coeliacs. Always a plus. For those interested in the atmosphere, the people are friendly and even the youngest wait staff are bright and professional. On what turned out to be an idyllic afternoon at Henley Square, the two of us arrived at the grand old building housing Estia Greek Cuisine for lunch. No wind, mild temps and plenty of shade under the balcony made choosing an outdoor table the smartest choice. The beach, jetty and seaside are right in view, and the Square provides enough buffer space so you can see it. Started with two small Greek dips and hot pita bread - NOTE: take heed of your server's advice regarding sizes - the value is so good here, that you might end up over ordering and run out of room for your main course. Had a bottle of Greek retsina wine to share, and a single main each. Fresh whiting fillets and some cevapcici (splitting a super nice Greek salad) satisfied completely. Service started engagingly and moved to unobtrusive casual, which made us feel like welcome family. And all at such a great price, too! read more

Ditto....with all the other reviews. This is pretty much the best Greek resturant in SA and in an excellent location, the stars aligned when the concept was born. Indoor and outdoor dining, great service, awesome food, yeah you know the rest. Last time I ate here was lunch with a friend and we decided not to have the meze (entree), went straight for the mains instead. We asked how big the Moussaka was as we didn't want a huge lunch, needed to save room for dessert you know. They waiter said it would serve two small meals if we split it. Ok. OMG it was huge, (this is a Greek eatery and it's a bottomless pit like all European eating standards, they have a reputation to uphold you know) so glad we went halves. Same with the Kataifi (which is my all time favourite Greek dessert) we went halves on also, and a latte to wash it all down, bewudiful. I found the prices quite reasonable and there are daily specials also if the budget is a bit tight. Please note: wear a long loose top over the jeans, so you can undo the top button and ease the zip a little if required. It'll make a world of difference my friends. read more

Meal was on a Sunday afternoon and booked well in advance. The experience was in one word abysmal. The starters came out quickly and staff were attentive for the first 15 mins especially the waiter trying - repeatedly - to sell our group of 6 an expensive $42 a head banquet. We declined which appears to have been part of the problem. those who ordered the banquet received their food quickly. After an hour we were still waiting for our mains upon asking the waiter how much longer was told another 5 mins. 10 mins later and still no food so we decided to leave, then suddenly were told the food was ready. Food was adequate but the service was terrible and it's ridiculously over priced for the microscopic serving sizes. They did comp our starters which was some compensation but I won't be going back. If you want Greek food see what other options are around first don't be fooled by the pretension Henley Beach. read more

We haven't been back for a couple of years but it always feels welcoming, familiar, comfortable. Our menus and water arrived quickly and the waiter 'linked' to our thinking quickly and just enough to be interesting and not obtrusive. He offered a table near the fireplace when my wife summarised the outside weather for him. The specials board was, again, too much for us and made decisions easy. In addition to our plentiful dips we shared a plate of calamari on a chickpea and rocket salad and a lamb stew in a red wine sauce, both delicious and filling. Estia satisfies the craving for Greek. This is one of my favourite Adelaide eateries and a place I take all of my interstate visitors. The location and atmosphere definately get 5 stars. The food is generally good, I do love greek food, but some things are always excellent so I tend to select from this repetoire. Dips to start are a must and being by the seaside I always seem to preference a Rose (although this is not my usual choice). They've pretty consistently got the Turkey Flat rose on the list which is a sure fire crowd pleaser. Saganaki and Kolikithi usually feature at some point, but funnily enough it is their salads which really do it for me. Moussaka is great, accompanied by a Greek salad, otherwise they usually have a few on the specials board with chic peas and the like. Sometimes service is great and sometimes it doesn't rise above well intentioned but don't let that bother you, because here - the setting is key. Make sure you book as plenty of people agree with me on this one! read more

What a place!! The food was spectacular, the wine delicious and the service friendly and polite. We had a 2 course meal, desert, and delicious wine for only 30 dollars a head. We thought it would be tricky ordering Greek for a big group, including 2 vegetarians, but every meal was delicious, and catered for different palates.
