Very nice and comfortable beach. The guys that work there are super nice, it's fast service to get chairs and an umbrella, and it never seems to be too crowded. Really close to the heart of South Beach and Ocean Drive. There's a great Starbucks just behind the beach if you are craving an iced tea or something. Just follow the beach path back to Ocean drive and it's just a bit north on the path after the public beach showers. I am a condominium owner at Bel-Aire on the Ocean, and Esteban's is apparently the company our building contracts with to provide beach chair and umbrella service to condominium owners. My experience with one of their attendants was upsetting enough that I believe it needs to be documented. When my husband, my son and I arrived at the beach hut to be seated, the attendant did not acknowledge us at all. We stood there waiting while he continued what appeared to be a casual conversation with another guest. After it became apparent that he was in no hurry to assist us, we began walking toward the beach chairs where we wanted to sit. That was when he suddenly found the urgency to acknowledge us. He came over and told us, "This is a private beach area. You can't sit here." I was stunned. He had not asked us a single question. He did not ask whether we were owners. He did not ask what unit we owned. He simply looked at us and apparently concluded that we did not belong there. That is particularly troubling because there was such a simple and professional way to handle this interaction: "Welcome. What is your unit number?" Had he asked, I would have provided my unit number, he could have verified that I am an owner, and that would have been the end of it. And if someone were not entitled to use the chairs, that same verification process would establish that as well. There was absolutely no need to begin the interaction by assuming that we did not belong. What made the experience even more disturbing was what happened next. We repeatedly told him that we own a condominium at Bel-Aire, yet he continued telling us that the chairs were "for Bel-Aire only." We would respond that we ARE Bel-Aire owners, and he would repeat himself again. It took several exchanges before he finally seemed to process what we were telling him. It honestly felt as though he simply could not reconcile the Black family standing in front of him with being condominium owners in the building. Perhaps Esteban's has another explanation for why black condominium owners were presumed not to belong without being asked even one question. But that is exactly how the encounter made us feel: profiled, unwelcome, and discriminated against at our own property. And that is unacceptable. I absolutely support attendants verifying that the people using our building's private beach amenities are entitled to use them. As an owner, I want them to do that. But there is an enormous difference between verification and presumption. Ask everyone the same simple question: "What is your unit number?" Verify it. Then treat the owners who pay for this service like they belong there--because we do. read more

I purchased a $100 for a 30 minute jet ski experience for my wife and daughter. I started my watch at 2:55pm when they got on and then walked my other kids to the Alexander Hotel pool right in from of the rentals. I got back at 3:08 to find my wife and daughter getting of their jet ski. I asked why are they coming off and was told their time was over. I said there was no way as I started my clock. Staff kept insisting their time was up until I pushed further and they finally confirmed the discrepancy. They allowed them to go back out to complete their time but the feeling of being taken advantage of for my family first ever jet ski experience had already left its mark. Management should address with staff on how to better articulate when time starts and ends. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. This umbrella and chair rental spot managed to ruin what should've been a simple beach day. From the very start, the tone was rude and unwelcoming. No greeting, no basic courtesy--just attitude. It felt like we were inconveniencing them by existing. Customer service was nonexistent and hostile right out of the gate. They closed early, which was never clearly communicated, and then had the audacity to start rushing us 15 minutes before closing. We were being pressured, rushed, and treated like we were doing something wrong for still being there during time we paid for. Save your money and your mood. There are plenty of places that rent umbrellas and chairs without the attitude, the rushing, or the disrespect. This place is not one of them. read more

We've come to the Allison Park beach location at 65th St multiple times over 5 years, the staff was always friendly and helpful until this visit. 'John' doesn't look up from his phone. He pointed towards an area where there were a couple chairs strewn about and covered with sand. He made no effort to straighten the chairs or clean them off. He challenged us the first day that our names weren't on the list even though I repeatedly asked him to call our hotel and confirm. He speaks almost no English. Unwelcoming, negative experience. His demeanor hasn't changed all week. read more

We used their beach and umbrella chair service earlier today, as it came with the hotel room we booked at the Cavalier Hotel. The two guys working here were both nice and very much on top of it, as we were taken care of right away. Two chairs came with our room rental, and we had to pay $20 to rent an umbrella. We might have gotten a discount for being with the hotel but overall it was a solid experience. We would use their beach chair setup again. read more

We had two rooms at the hotel that provides chairs and we cant get the 4 chairs that are included in our hotel fee because our friends who were staying in the other room arent here so we werent able to get chairs together and they didnt get chairs at all because of it. The man screamed at me and told me i inconvenienced him. Even the hotel front desk lady tried to tell him its our room and our chairs. This business should be shut down honestly. I rather go a mile down the beach and pay for $50 chairs than deal with this service again. read more

If I could leave half a star, I would !!!!! I sat down under under one of their umbrellas while my daughter went to pay . Well, I guess the rude guy /staff didn't realize she was walking toward the hut to pay for our spot. He comes up to me and literally pulls the umbrella down over my head, practically choking me with the string around my neck!!! I have this incident recorded, and I'm thinking of filing a lawsuit . This beach chair and umbrella spot would get more stars except the female employee in the beach hut insists on blaring radio commercials from a giant rattling busted speaker.We asked her to turn it down since it was filling the entire beach with noise pollution and Cologuard commercials but she insisted on continuing to play it at maximum rattley volume. The female attendant along with her colleagues refused to rent their equipment to my family. Rather than simply stating that they did not wish to serve us and have the right to refuse, they kept asking that we return in an hour. Their first excuse was some oncoming rain. It never rained. Then they said they could tell we were drinking. Two people in a group of seven has a beer. On our third attempt and after seeing them rent their jet skis out multiple times they take a sign out and say they have the right to refuse service. We are a Hispanic group of black and brown people. First time being profiled like this by a company in Miami. Absolute worst experience. Way to ruin my friend's birthday. We would've gone somewhere else has they pulled their little sign out the first time we asked. Instead they wasted our time. Hope the Alexander and the neighboring complexes consider changing their beach equipment management team. This one is garbage. read more
