Would return to buy used skates if I happened to need them.

Play It Again Sports in Brampton is one franchise of 100+ throughout North America. Nevertheless,…read morethe store has a very local feel to it, with very personalized and friendly service. As the name suggests, it's a sports consignment store, though they do sell some new products as well. For me, it makes a great deal of sense to purchase some sports equipment used since that new item you bought for more than twice the price will look the same after a couple uses. I've been here a few times in the past couple years and have always found what I'm looking for. We purchased my son's first real bike here. It was in terrific shape with virtually no signs of use and came at a great deal. I've popped in other times too, such as buying used softballs - which for me makes perfect sense to save money on rather than buying new ones. Outdoor skating season is now starting up again, which brought me in yesterday for skates. We plan on going several times this season, so it didn't make sense to keep renting each time we go. We can in yesterday to look at their skates, and they have a MASSIVE inventory of both new and used. The price of the men's skates ranged from $40-70, with even the $40 ones being your typical Bauer skate. I got ones for $60, which had very little use and were made of composite material, making it a bit lighter. I also found skates for both my kids, which each pair coming in around $30. They offer skate sharpening for $5, but did ours for free since we purchased three pairs. They had plenty of sales staff present, so anyone could get the help they needed, whenever they needed it. The manager is also supper friendly and very funny. Next time you're looking for some sports equipment, I'd recommend looking here first. You might be surprised at the amount of selection and the money you'll save.

After a not so great experience at Red Door we tried our luck at Phatman. It was my first time here…read moreand it was pretty neat. An entire store dedicated to skateboarding, snowboarding and a section for frisbee golf. There was quite a big selection and it wasn't busy which was a plus. The guy working was very helpful and didn't put a lot of pressure on us to buy. My significant other needed a different size in snowboard boots and apparently the new stock is yet to come in. We will be back soon and are happy to support this place. Another unique feature of this spot is that they have an indoor skate park.

Tip: Earn and redeem your CT money at this store…read more I was looking for a SportChek store to redeem my CT money. As I was driving home from work, I remembered this store at Cachet Centre that I had never been to. Perfect! This store is closer to Woodbine Avenue. There was lots of parking in front of the store. I pulled into a spot and walked in. The women's clothing section was to my right. I checked it out first. I liked seeing sandals and summery clothing. The clearance items are closer to the fitting rooms. I found a waterproof jacket with a hoodie that was $20 off. It fit well. I loved the colour. I said yes. I was looking at Blue Jays and Tempo clothing. I wanted to get the latter, to support our new WNBA franchise, but I didn't find anything that I liked in my size. Either I would be drowning wearing oversized men's or barely breathing in the women's t-shirts. A man by the shoe section asked if I needed any help. It was nice. It happened maybe ten minutes into my shopping experience. I was good browsing, but thanked him and I continued to explore. I saw a sign for washrooms next to the shoe section, but it was blocked off. You may have better luck at the Tim Hortons across from this store if you do need to use a washroom nearby. I headed to the checkout area. I got a nice, cheerful woman who asked how I was. It was good. I reciprocated. She was having a great day. I asked if I could use my CT money towards my purchase. She nodded and scanned my barcode off my phone. I also donated $2 to Jumpstart, which is Canadian Tire's national charity that helps kids from families in financial need overcome financial and accessibility barriers to participate in sports and recreation. It was my first time making a donation towards this charity. It was nice spending my CT money on an item that I liked. I have hoodies that are not waterproof, so it's nice to finally have one that does. I liked shopping here. I'd return when I'm in the area. Service is great and I liked the clearance section. (228)

Wow, I get to be the first to review a place!?!…read more I feel the same way as in my Da Maria review about letting the secret out about this little gem of a store. I discovered this place B.Y. (before Yelp) this January when I was on my winter boot quest. All the cool kids were sporting Sorels and I wanted a pair too. But I wasn't cool enough to know to buy in the fall, before there was actually snow on the ground. The usual places (Get Outside, Sporting Life) were completely out of my size in the style I wanted (which, if you are wondering, is not the funky pink and black houndstooth with neon laces - again, I'm not that cool). Circle Shoes seems to be a family-owned shop and sort of no-frills especially compared to the rest of the boutique-y places you find along this end of Yonge. They had ample selection of styles and sizes and the proprietor knew her stuff and brought me a few choices in similar styles in my size quickly and without the requisite eye-roll/trudge down to the stockroom I encountered at other places. They keep their stock in the back of the store. They carry lots of brand names including Uggs and Birkenstocks. Worth the trip uptown!
