Great first impression I tried the 3 step process: 1. shot of aloe(flavored) for hair, skin, acne, digestion. I have never had a liking for aloe. It always was pulpy and left an after taste. This was just like drink a refreshing class of mango infused water. I would drink a bottle of it easily. 2. 1 cup of tea(hot or cold): boost metabolism, mental clarity and several other things (check out the website) and no crash - I had warm chai. I love chai tea, but I usually drink it with milk because I have found chai with water to just not do it for me. This chai, however, was not too peppery, absolutely palatable witbout the creaminess of milk and very flavorful. 3. Shake(meal replacement) lots of vitamins and minerals, 17 grams of protein and 3-5 grams of fiber: Their are an abundance of shake flavors. I decided on the Stawberry Cheesecake. They have fruit, chocolate or white chocolate flavors. I am not a chocolate fan in general, but I may be tempted to try a few, as the names have peaked my interest. Ie. Heath Bar, Sweet Heart, S'Mores, Banana Carmel, etc. I know....it doesn't sound healthy. Right? The taste is so much tomy liking that I will totally do it again. As a meal replacement, I should feel "full" and nourished for at least 4-5 hours. They advise having a drink once a day for 3 days to jump start as a way of getting your body on track with all the benefits. Their hours are 6a-6p M-F. I don't remember the weekend hours. I wish they were open earlier because I will almost be to Hyde Park before they open They do have their products onsite to ourchase and make at home, this may turn out to be a better and cheaper ootion over the long term. I am going to try this out for a bit and see how it pans out. Thank you for a pleasant and healthy experience to start my day.

The staff is efficient, personable and 'on point' Kaylee warmly greeted me as I entered the building. She was very patient with me as I me meandered through the menu. She provided suggestions of drinks that would fit my taste as I told her I prefer tart over sweet. I ordered a large Sweater Weather for my tea and a large Strawberry Cheesecake for my shake. At my 1st sip of the Sweater Weather, Kaylee was spot on. It had a tart flavor that gives it a zing similar to that of a green apple jolly rancher or raspberry. It looked like the 4th of July in a large cup as the colors of red and blue blended together. The background music was not too loud and everything appeared quite clean. There was a soft but pleasant smell of candles in the air as well. I highly recommend popping in or some of their new fall drinks to start your day.

Today I made an exception and what a surprise I got. I sat outside with my dog Zeke, not knowing that friendly dogs are allowed inside (and they aren't required to drink coffee!). I ordered my usual cappuccino with hazelnut and stayed outside with Zeke, enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown Crown Point. My coffee was flavored with just the right amount of hazelnut and sweetness. I googled Ms Zolfo and found out she made national news for the goodness she spreads. Inspirational words are written on each coffee sleeve and she encourages people to spread it forward. She had a steady stream of customers while I was there. Most order their coffee to go. I chatted with her during a pause in customers and she revealed that she was hit hard during the covid pandemic and just recently re-opened the dining area, although she still hasn't brought back her food menu. The back wall is now full of cards and letters from customers who have thanked her for helping them. The little coffee shop truly is an uplifting place to start one's day.

The salad came with a lemon garlic dressing on the side, which I didn't pour over the salad, but instead dipped forkfuls lightly into the cup. The salad was huge! There was no way I could finish it, and I didn't. But it was satisfying and made my body feel oh-so good, the way that a body feels good when eating whole foods. Roots Market Cafe has a lot of nourishing options here. I had a hard time choosing what to get, because they have so many tasty-sounding options. Most (all?) of the menu is either vegetarian or vegan, and they offer salads, wraps, smoothies, juices, and a selection of baked goods. This place is also a little market! You can find fresh produce here -- I saw sweet potatoes, broccoli, zucchini, ginger root, bananas, pineapple, berries and other things. They also sell alternative milks, mushroom coffee, organic eggs, kimchi, vegan snacks, and things I have never seen, like vegan marshmallows and vegan marshmallow cream. Who knew that existed? I got my salad to go, but they have a dining room where you can sit and stay a while. The dining room is separate from the market and ordering counter, and is located in an entirely different room.

The hummus was extremely watery--more like a soup consistency than the thick, creamy hummus I expected. It made it difficult to enjoy with the vegetables or chips. Speaking of the platter, for something labeled "party size," there were surprisingly very few vegetables included. Instead, it came with a large amount of chips. I was also expecting multigrain chips based on the photo but they were just plain tortilla chips, which wasn't what I had in mind. The Good Mojo juice itself tasted good, although it was served warm rather than chilled. Overall, for the amount I spent, I had much higher hopes for the quality and portion balance of what I was getting. It just didn't feel like the value matched the price.
