Very attentive and did a great job explaining the situation, and, lucky for me... It's a wait and see sort of thing. So based on today's experience with a consultation, 5 stars! I hope it's a long time before I'm back. Bottom line: Take care of your teeth.

This dental office engaged in what I believe to be improper and potentially fraudulent billing…read morepractices. I was overcharged for services, including duplicate charges and services that were also billed multiple times to my insurance provider. After contacting my insurance company directly, they provided a detailed explanation of benefits confirming that my total out-of-pocket responsibility was $722. Despite this, the dental office charged my card $1,419.60 -- nearly double the verified amount owed. Additionally, I scheduled my care with a specific dentist, but for my second visit I was seen by an associate due to the original provider's unavailability. Although this change was not initiated by me, I was assessed a $75 "new doctor" fee. Charging a patient under these circumstances is misleading and raises serious concerns about billing integrity. When I attempted to resolve these discrepancies, I encountered repeated resistance. I was forced to make numerous attempts to obtain a refund, and while a partial refund was eventually issued, the office still owes me over $100 based on the insurance-approved amounts. Rather than addressing the matter in good faith, staff refused to engage in meaningful resolution and instead directed me to "take it up with my insurance," despite the discrepancies originating from their billing. The situation escalated further when the office contacted law enforcement and accused me of harassment simply for persistently requesting to speak with a manager regarding a legitimate financial dispute. Following this, they ceased communication entirely and appear to have blocked my phone number, effectively preventing any further attempt to resolve the issue -- including contact with corporate oversight. Throughout this process, staff provided inconsistent and demonstrably inaccurate information, much of which directly conflicted with documentation from my insurance provider. These actions raise serious concerns regarding compliance with standard billing practices and transparency obligations. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against doing business with this office. Patients should be aware of the risk of being overcharged, improperly billed, and denied appropriate resolution when discrepancies arise.

The front desk was friendly and kind, both the assistant and the dr was amazing. But the young lady ( blue and green dress) who came into the room to discuss treatment planning was rude, she seemed as if she was annoyed by my questions making nonverbal facial expressions that were rude as well. Her entire demeanor was agitated and mean. I made up my mind at that time to take my business elsewhere. I'm not paying over 3k at an establishment were employees are rude and make you feel uncomfortable. I paid for my X-rays and consult fee and left, I'll get my root canal done somewhere else.

I had a root canal yesterday, Mar 10, 2021 and not only has it corrected my problem, I've had no pain at all!!! I was given a script for Ibuprofen after the procedure. I filled it thinking I would have discomfort and, though my pain tolerance is fairly high, I would take it. I have not had to take anything for the pain at all. I feel great and slept like the dead last night. I can't thank Dr Fitzhugh and his staff enough. They were very kind and I was even "serenaded" by the good Dr during the procedure. I would highly recommend Essential Endodontics for any need you may have. -Clay Stewart

I recently had a root canal done with Dr Shaikhly. It went very well! All of the staff were…read morepleasant and respectful. Dr S was knowledgeable and competent. The numbing shot wasn't bad, and the procedure itself was painless. Dental work is never cheap, but they were nice enough to give me an exact quote with my insurance before starting. I was pleasantly surprised that they were in network with my Blue Cross plan. Most offices I called seemed to be out of network. A few tips: As of my visit Oct 2019, the building is brand new. And by that, I mean unfinished! Yes, you are in the right place, don't be deterred by the fact that the whole bottom floor is nothing but studs. Their office on the 2nd floor is fully completed and it's nice. The equipment seemed to be cutting edge. Bring music! The procedure is long and there are no breaks (mine was 2hrs due to challenging roots), and there's lots of grinding and scraping. Turn the music up and try to get lost in your own little world to pass the time. Use a headset or buds that have ear attachments. Apparently regular ear buds aren't made to stay in while lying down! Mine kept falling out which was a huge pain. Ask for a small towel to roll up and place behind your neck. After about an hour of lying on the uncomfortable headrest, my neck really started to hurt, and they were able to help me out with the towel trick. Don't eat or drink a large amount right before coming. You may be slightly inverted, and no one wants to get heartburn during a root canal. Plus, did I mention the procedure is long? Yep, you don't want to get the urge to pee halfway through. Use the bathroom RIGHT before the procedure! If you're in a lot of pain and the assistant wants to test your teeth before the procedure by tapping them and using cold temp, ask if the Dr will be doing the same test. No reason to endure the same torture twice. And speaking of pain, Dr S was nice enough to numb me as soon as the testing was over; ask to get that shot ASAP! I had a great experience (as far as root canals go, haha), and highly recommend Dr S for anyone who needs root canal.

When I asked to speak to someone the doctor told me he couldn't do anything to resolve the matter and sent me back to my regular doctor. I am happy to take down this review if someone could please give me the common courtesy and customer service to reach out and help resolve this matter.
