After being told by Joe Cool two times that the…read morereason our AC unit was malfunctioning was because we needed an $850 UV light installed, we thought that can't possibly be true so we decided to call Johnson family AC for a third opinion. Colby showed up within the hour of our distress call! He walked in my door and within 5 mins diagnosed the problem (which had nothing to do with the UV light situation) and got right to work! He removed some old ghetto condenser box, that I'm assuming was a quick fix for whoever remodeled our house before we bought it and replaced the AC line to its old working condition! And unclogged out line as well. He was fast and efficient and even stayed to make sure all the lines were working and the AC was blowing cold air the way they should before he left! A true professional with integrity. I'm so happy we called and that Colby actually fixed out AC problem and for a very reasonable price! I truly feel like I will sleep better at night knowing it was done correct! Thank so much!!

Our air handler fan quit cycling and would not come on. We called J&J and they sent a tech who…read morechanged the thermostat (which was unnecessary) and told us the fan motor needed replacing but he jury rigged the system so it would run constantly until they could replace the motor, It ran for an hour after we paid them and they left. Charge was almost $300 and we called them to come back and see if there was another problem. They came the next morning and cleared the overflow drain using my shop vac that I had already used before they were called to clear the drain line. They said due to the high humidity the drain was again full of water and left after 20 minutes, charging me foe another service call and $109 to clear the drain, another almost $200. They gave me a price of just under $1000 to replace the "faulty" motor. Before I spent any more and investing already all of this money I called the office and asked if they would at least credit one of the service trip charges for the new motor job. They never responded. I waited three days and after the weekend, I called another AC company who offered free estimates and no charge for a service call to diagnose the problem if they were given the job. This tech diagnosed the issue as a relay component and after ordering the fan motor relay, the system started working right away and has been functioning normally for three days and two nights since he left. The faulty part? A relay which cost$32.99 from the manufacturer, now the blower motor is running just fine. As a footnote, the J&J service tech told us that the motor and relay were all one unit and had to be replaced since the start relay was built into the motor. Sounds like they operate like the car mechanic who just changes every part until the problem is fixed.

Jacob and Shawn showed up on time and got to work in my very tight ceiling space. Lucky for me they came right away. It seems the wires to the heating module burned out. I am going to keep up on my maintenance schedule in the future. They check on loose wire during these inspections. Again, thanks to J&J and Jacob and Shawn. And the office is great to deal with too. They pick up on the first ring and sound really happy working there!

ALMOST SCAMMED $5,400 (1/5 stars)…read moreI recently had a terrible experience with Harrington Air Conditioning in Pinellas Park and wanted to warn others. In July 2026, technician from Harrington Air Conditioning came out for a "no cool" issue on my 2019 Trane straight cool system (air handler in the vertical hallway closer) Technician diagnosed a low refrigerant charge and a leak at the evaporator coil. He presented three options: * A) Just pay the $89 service call fee * B) Pay $408 to add R-410A refrigerant (which he said would get it running temporarily) * C) Pay $5,407 for a full evaporator coil replacement I chose option B to avoid the huge repair cost for now. After he added the refrigerant and charged the system to "factory specs," there was still no cooling at all. Technician casually said it would "take a couple hours to cool down" and left. Their after-hours service line is just an AI bot that promises a callback in the morning, which never came. No follow-up whatsoever. Frustrated, I called Pleasant Air Conditioning in Largo the next day. Their technician quickly diagnosed the real issue: my wall thermostat was faulty and causing the heating and cooling to fight each other at the same time. They replaced the thermostat, and cool air started blowing immediately. Harrington's technician completely misdiagnosed the problem, charged me $408 for unnecessary refrigerant, and provided zero follow-up. I felt taken advantage of, especially with that massive $5,400 coil replacement quote right after spotting a supposed leak. I would highly recommend staying far away from Harrington Air Conditioning. Save yourself the money and frustration and go with a more competent company like Pleasant Air from the start. Date of service: 7/2026 Service #: HVAC-DIAG-101 + R-410A top-off Learn from my mistake! On September 5, 2024, we enrolled in Harrington's maintenance program at a cost of $380 per year to…read morehelp prevent maintenance-related issues and protect our investment. In June 2026, our AC system shut down. Technician Jacob informed us that the drain pan and drain line needed to be cleared and that the safety switch had shut the system down to prevent overflow. We were then presented with a proposed charge of $744. We were told the issue existed because we had not scheduled maintenance within six months, and so we were not covered by our pre-paid maintenance plan. The company indicated that a reminder call had been made, but if so, it occurred while I was recovering from surgery. I received no email reminders, text messages, or additional follow-up attempts, even though I received both text and email reminders of the appointments with Adam and Jacob. It was difficult to accept a proposed charge of approximately $744 for what was described as clearing a drain pan and drain line. This is a routine maintenance that the technician told us would take roughly 30 minutes, and needed no components nor supplies. This implies an hourly labor charge of $1488. I was willing to pay a reasonable amount and repeated that several times. As we questioned the proposed charge of $744 for a half hour of work, the technician called the office, and the discussion reached an impasse. Next, he walked out. No work was performed, and we were not charged because we declined the proposed service. I contacted management to discuss the situation and seek a reasonable resolution, but my calls and email were not answered. We saved Harrington money by not requesting prepaid maintenance. With that in mind, it would have been reasonable to simply perform the maintenance and, if necessary, charge us $100-$200 for the emergency service call.

Well, they kept delaying it and the AC unit in the main Rooms stop working because of water back up in the condensation tube. They could not come out right away, so I called another service to do so they came out that night. A month or so later I hired that same company to do the routine maintenance and they found that there was a leak in the evaporator coil. Since I bought the unit from Pinnelas, I agreed to have them come out and repair the unit. They sent a young man and an older gentleman, and the young man who was new did the work while the older gentleman stayed down in the garage and yelled up to him on what to do. The price was over $2700. But when they did not show up on the Saturday that they were supposed to they came the following Monday and offered a 10% discount on the work. The next day my wife was getting ready to leave to go to the airport and looked up in the ceiling, and there was a large wet spot. Turns out their new recruit did not connect something properly and water leaked all over the floor of the attic and then ultimately put a large spot in our kitchen . They did come out that day and acknowledge that it was their problem and they took pictures and said they would contact us to have a contractor come and paint the ceiling when dry. They were supposed to call us last Friday to have a contractor come out. I never did. They didn't call Monday and I called them and ask them what the problem was. They did not call Tuesday and finally on Wednesday a customer service rep called and said they would have to get approval to do so. my wife explained to them that Christian already approved it and only then did she acknowledged that OK we have a painter. Come out and appraise the job. First I would like to say that the train units that I purchased have continuously let us down. Every time Pinnelas comes out they find something else wrong. We've spent thousands of dollars on top of the warranty to have various things done including surge protectors, which cost well over $1000. I would suggest shopping around if you are looking for a quality air conditioner replacement. The company that came out in their place was called apostle I understand there may be staffing issues and the company bought out the original company and I really don't know who's in charge there anymore. I would definitely shop around if you were looking for a replacement AC unit or maintenance.
