Honestly, I feel like this place is just OK, especially for the money spent. Both services I received (facial and massage) were good- Liz and Juliet were both very professional and friendly and did great work. However, I wouldn't say there was anything exceptional about either that would make them worth $150 each. Maybe the facial products are uber expensive...? The bathroom/changing room is just that, nothing special. The relaxation room is really nice but I don't really get the point of it unless you purposely book two services 30min apart. Otherwise, I just want to go right from one service to another. Negative point 1: One of the things that bothers me and others have noticed as well, is the way the owner pushes and pushes you to book again. If you're that hard for business, lower your prices. and if not, don't pressure your clients to the point where they feel uncomfortable and awkward. Negative point 2: There is almost NEVER anyone at their desk... They asked me to be 15 min early to my appointment so that I could have plenty of time to change, etc. I was running a little late and ended up arriving 10 min before my appointment but then there was no one at the desk to check me in! This is the second time this has happened and I have called one or two times when the phone just rang and rang. I think they need to invest in a receptionist who can man the desk for all business hours- greeting people, checking in & answering phone calls. I think if the overall service (not that of the estheticians) improves you can demand the high prices but, as is, it's not quite worth the money. read more

Look no further, THIS SPA IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! The massages are heavenly and the facials are the best! [I even brought my daughter in for her first facial - I wanted it to be done right! Thank you, Dr. Alison!] While there are a handful of nice spas on the Main Line, this really is a class above; gorgeous decor, truly RESORT-class! I usually only get massages on vacation and this definitely has that vibe. Check out the pictures! I am not much for spas myself but I go to them because it makes my wife happy. My wife raves about her 2 hr massage with Juliet. One of the best she had. My wife set up a gentleman's facial for me and at a lot of places it is a bunch if hot towels and a head rub. Not here at Essent. Cory my masseuse was a total machine. She must have rubbed in 20 different concoctions that actually made a difference in how my face looked (at least what my wife told me). In any case this a spa that is a Main Line gem! read more

Billie Jo is one of my favorite estheticians EVER and I, in fact, followed her here from another spa. This place is so swanky - very nice. A great relaxation room and a well thought out floor plan. A facial here can run $149 and up (ouch) but it is wonderful to have Billie Jo work on you. They also offer a whole menu of med-spa services including laser treatments (hair removal, collagen rejeuvenation, etc.), fillers (Botox, Restylane, Juvaderm) and SculpSure (not Cool Sculpt - the other one.). Packages run in the THOUSANDS so bring money. Love it so far - but man, I guess I am in the wrong demographic. A teen facial (18 & under) is $99. Lucky kids! read more

I have had SculpSure as well as a facial with dermaplaning at Essent Spa. I have to admit that I was a skeptic about SculpSure. I could not believe my results 6 weeks after my first treatment, I am THRILLED!!!!! I am booked for next treatment. I had SculpSure above my C-section incision where I had a stubborn area of fat. I am no longer a skeptic, I feel great in my jeans again! I also loved my facial and dermaplaning, my skin felt amazing and my treatment ended with much needed time in the spas tranqulity room with a warm eye compress and hot tea. My facial and massage were excellent... But the way this place is run is horrible. They send you a million emails and texts before your appointment to remind you of it, and also call you asking you to pre-pay over the phone. This is to supposedly save time and make your visit more tranquil. Really, it's because they're short-staffed and don't have the time to check you out at your appointment! I booked for a 2pm facial, but didn't get taken back for my facial until 2:35. Running 35 minutes late is not ok, especially when you've hounded me about my appointment times, asking me to be early. If you want me there on time, you better be running on time. Finally, they gave me a "free" Mother's Day gift, but when I got home I realized it was expired, so really they were just giving away old junk that should have gone in the trash. read more

I loved my experience at Essent. I received a gift certificate for my birthday. The staff and even Allison herself helped me choose the right massage therapist for my particular muscle issues and massage preferences. Unlike the somewhat cold/impersonal spas like toppers, essent's staff from owner to receptionist to masseuse were very warm, friendly and genuinely trying to make me feel welcome and comfortable. Spas always say " you can relax in our special relaxation room". But you often feel weird in there or no one checks on you or you feel like you're taking up space unfairly. Not here!!! They were happy I stayed to relax, offered to bring me more water and were very welcoming. I agree that the prices are high but not sure they are out of whack with a toppers type spa and I liked it much more. read more

This is the most overpriced spa I've ever encountered, and I've had a LOT of massages and facials in my day. For the price ($199 for an 80 minute massage, $99 for 30 minutes), you would think that the facilities and service would be top notch, but they just aren't. The bathroom/dressing is missing key essentials, like disposable combs, cotton balls, hairspray, etc, despite having a nice shower. Half of the lockers don't work. The lounge area didn't have any water (!!!)--the large pitcher was empty when I arrived ~10AM on a Saturday, and was still empty at 11AM when my massage was complete. They have tea bags and tea cups, but no hot water anywhere and no electric kettle....not that it matters, because there was no water. The only reason this is a 2 star review is because the massages I received were fabulous....but not $199 fabulous. read more

My services today were amazing. The aesthetician was great and had an amazing personality. Too bad we had to wait over 30 min to be taken back to my facial today. Apparently they have no front desk staff and it causes a backup - especially when they owner over booked today. And I wasn't the only one. The spa also called over and over to pre pay for our appointment and kept emailing too. They gave a free Mother's Day serum too which I thought was generous. Too bad mine expired in 9/17. I definitely won't be returning which is a shame because my esthetician was fantastic. read more

I've been a big fan of Dr. Alison ever since I got laser hair removal at Main Line Plastic Surgery several years ago. I followed Dr. Alison to her Essent Spa and loved the spa experience too. Dr. Alison's laser hair removal has been life changing. Previously before getting laser hair removal, it was a big ordeal to shave to wear a bathing suit. Now after getting laser hair removal, wearing a bathing suit requires no preparation. Likewise, my arms were hairy like a man's and now they're smooth and hairless. I'm so grateful for Dr. Alison and Essent Spa's laser hair removal. I previously had gone to dermatologists for laser hair removal and their machines did nothing. On my most recent visit to Essent Spa, in addition to getting a laser hair removal treatment, I had a chemical peel and facial on the same day. It was so gentle I could do it all in one visit. Today I had a facial and dermaplane with Adriene, a lovely and gentle professional. It was my first experience with dermaplaning but Adriene was not only technically very proficient, she had a great "bedside" manner and calmly explained the procedure. The facial was also very soothing and my face looks brighter. The overall atmosphere of the Spa is very attractive and pleasant. I loved the cushy velveteen robe and slippers they offered to clients. And it was a treat to "cool down" in the lounge which has flavored water and other amenities. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because I am new to facials and spas so I can't really compare the experience. However, I will return because I liked how I was treated as a guest and because Adriene knows her craft. read more

I came here on the recommendation of a surgeon for loose skin and stretch marks. Was told that the laser would definitely be effective. After the first treatment I saw zero improvement so I called and expressed my concern. I was told there should at least be slight improvement but that now that they knew my skin they could go in more intensely with the laser. I paid another $650 for the second treatment. With tip, I've now sunk over $1300 into this place. Again I saw zero improvement. Upon visiting my dermatologist for something different, I mentioned this laser and its ineffectiveness and she affirmed my suspicion- that this was a bunch of expensive bs and that a laser could not be effective for what I wanted and that only a surgical procedure would do what I wanted.....which was my original thought and the concern I had expressed all along. I cancelled my next appointment and would warn anyone seeking a laser treatment of this and warn anyone wanting to go to this spa for anything, not to sink money into a place that is either dishonest or unknowledgeable. read more

Everyone there is highly trained, knowledgeable, and clearly experts in their field. Liz is the most wonderful, relatable facialist with nothing but positive energy. I have gone multiple times to her and always leave feeling 100% better about my skin. I also recommended family members who also have been treated with such care and professionalism. My experience was just not worth the money spent! I went on a Thursday afternoon for a 4pm massage. I was greeted by the owner, who was very nice. She walked me to the ladies room area and suggested I relax in the tranquility room since I got there about 45 minutes early. Sounds great, right? This is where it went downhill....I was changing out of my work clothes, and needed to put them back on after the spa appointment in order to go to an event that evening, but there were no hangers to be found anywhere. I ended up using the 1 hanger that my robe came off of in order to hang my pants, blouse and jacket. I then used the toilet and realized there was no hook inside to hang up the robe I just put on. Ugh. TIP - provide hangers and hooks in the dressing room areas. Ok, not awful yet. So, I made it into the Tranquility Room, which was anything but tranquil! First, and worst, there was a bridal party inside. Half the room was taken by their food and drink and there were multiple ladies speaking very loudly. TIP - please host parties where people want to chat in a room other than the room that's supposed to be quiet. Second, one wall was floor-to-ceiling windows looking out into the parking lot with lots of light coming in. Again, far from tranquil. TIP - cover the windows completely to reduce light glaring into the room that's supposed to be tranquil. So I sat and waited, and they were able to take me back to my massage a little early. My masseuse, Stacey, seemed nice enough. I got out of my robe and onto the table. Then, Stacey came back in and said she 'forgot to have me sign the waiver' and, in the dark, handed me a clipboard to sign my name. She then said she had time to do an 80 minute massage, even though I had only booked a 50 minute one, and would I like to take the extra time. Well, I agreed and thought, initially, that would be a nice treat to myself. But in hindsight, I don't appreciate the 'upsell' while literally on the massage table - definitely tacky. TIP - don't hand over something for signature while someone is on the massage table in the dark, and don't upsell me at the same time. So my massage was nice. Not the best, not the worst. Stacey then guides me back to the Tranquility Room where I sit and wait for a co-worker friend. My friend arrives, and so does Stacey, this time with another clipboard and asking if I would fill out my medical conditions and questionnaire that was part of the waiver. Really? My massage was over. But I obliged. While she stood over me waiting. I filled out the top portion with my contact information and asked if I really needed to fill out the medical questionnaire. She said yes, took the clipboard from me, and said she would ask me the questions so it was quicker. She then asked me all kinds of personal questions - out loud - for my co-worker to hear - about my medications, medical conditions, and pregnancy. Now, I probably should have refused and cut Stacey off. I didn't because I felt it was allright for this coworker to hear my answers. But this is about the most INappropriate thing for anyone to do. TIP - don't ask HIPAA questions out loud - they're private for a reason. So that was the end of my appointment and experience. The owner was nice, the facility was decent, but none of it was worth the price - I've had much better, more relaxing, spa experiences. read more
