I went for a consultation for a "sunspot". I was told it was superficial and was no issue to remove. I was then convinced to buy a package of 4 treatments. Now that all 4 are done, there is NO DIFFERENCE to my sunspots. If anything people are now noticing them more. I mentioned this to the techs who told me to buy more treatments. WASTE OF MONEY! They did NOT CARE that I showed ZERO improvement. They just wanted my money. read more

I came to Essence Day Spa about 4 years ago for laser hair removal, and was very pleased with my results. Fast forward to today- I decided I wanted to laser a different area and came right back to Essence. The office is immaculate, the prices are reasonable and affordable, and the service is always great. The techs are always polite and knowledgeable, the receptionist is always friendly, and they also always give a courtesy follow up call the day after your treatment to make sure you are feeling good which is a very nice touch. They do not offer a lifetime guarantee, which makes sense to me, because contrary to popular belief laser hair removal is not necessarily permanent. Hair can regrow overtime due to many factors. Parking is a breeze, and they offer Saturday appointments. Overall, I am super pleased and will continue to come here for my laser hair removal. read more

Been coming here for more than a year now and I've seen quite a few changes in staff. The front desk girls are always nice and professional. My laser tech Taryn, makes you feel at ease during the treatment. Great personality and a sweet girl. Makes the treatment not so torturous because it can be! Joann gives awesome facials. She really takes her time and works on those unwanted nasties. From the first encounter she genuinely makes you feel comfortable. She is personable and very professional. I received my complimentary cleaning of the eyebrows, Joann also did a fantastic job. I highly recommend both these ladies. read more

I've gotten laser at essence day before and it's a decent establishment when it comes to hair removal. However, the customer service could use some work. I arrived at 9:15 AM for my 9:00AM procedure. Unfortunately they only have a 15 minute grace period. I counted the minutes between 9:00AM and 9:15AM and it seemed like 15 minutes but the employees seem to have a loophole. If you wait one more minute and THEN mention there's a 15 minute grace period it will be 9:16AM and they won't have to attend you. Apparently my procedure for full legs takes 30 minutes (which I've done before and it takes 20 minutes max) and they already had someone booked again at 9:30. Late arrival for a customer.. or overbooking on their part? Well let's see how my next appointment goes when I have to drive another half hour to get here and find someone to take care of my kids. read more

If you have thick hair dont waste your money on laser hair removal here. I've had about 16 sessions on my underarms and upper lip and I am still getting hair. I had a friend who paid much more at another place but has only had 8 sessions and is already nearly hair free. The prices are great but you get what you pay for people. Also, they don't have a "satisfaction guaranteed" policy like other hair removal centers. If you're someone with very thin, peach fuzz like hair over their body then go for it, it might work for you. However, If you're someone like me with thick hair on your body, seek a more reputable (and costly) establishment known for laser hair removal in order to get the results you want. They do have great customer service and the location is extremely clean. read more

I bought a Groupon for laser hair removal from Essence a week ago. The Groupon was so cheap, I was expecting a dingy place with bad service. It was completely the opposite. The building is beautiful, the place was impeccable, the receptionist was very kind and sweet. This was my first session and I had such a great experience! Angelica was my technician. She had great instructions for before and after care of the laser treatment. She was very social and sweet. The actual process of the hair removal was quite painful but I heard that was completely normal. I am definitely looking forward to coming back to this place and also recommending it to my friends! read more

The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because I have been coming here for a year. At first this place was awesome. The deals and specials were at affordable prices. There was a time when they had 6 sessions for a small area for $50. That's how good it was! As time progressed, their prices started increasing and they created the "extra large" area. Which wasn't there before. What was once $1,000 for a full body is now $1,500. Then they had a groupon special and when I tried to purchase it they told me it was only for new clients, leaving me a loyal customer to pay double. You would think for a customer to be with the company for over a year that they would be more considerate. The staff is nice and the place is decent. You never wait more than 15 minutes to be seen but their prices are not the same. read more

I'll start with the positives. Their prices and deals are just about unbeatable. The location is extremely clean and the staff is super friendly. Unfortunately, the prices come with consequences. I did laser hair removal on my underarms and bikini here, but i had 0 results. The first few sessions didn't hurt at all which was alarming because everyone always raves about how immensely painful this process is. I did about 14 sessions on bikini and it's the same as when I started. I went religiously so there really should be no excuse as to why I saw ZERO improvement. This place offers great prices, despite the high volume they do a great job at keeping people happy. Pilar always calls me to remind me of my appointment, she knows I forget so goes out of her way. I always get a follow up phone call about my appointment even though I'm on my 7th laser treatment. Damarys does a great job with the laser and provides me with interesting conversation throughout my appointment. I am having my back, chest, full arms and shoulders done and am very pleased with the results. Based on my results I would estimate 12 appointments to do the job plus 1 or 2 additional annual visits to maintain. I read the post regarding dark skinned people, I do not think it's fair to rate a company because they do not have a machine that will do the job. I overheard a phone call today when that issue was addressed. Someone called in while I was checking in. I think they handled the topic very professionally and even recommended that once they find a company that offers the service, to be sure they have a specific type of machine ( they mentioned the model # to the client) for dark skinned complexions or it will scar. Appointments are tight but for their prices, I am more than pleased!! read more

I had laser for my legs. This office is prompt and courteous. I started with Joan and then was scheduled with another technician for a few sessions. The other technician, while she did her job, she was always on her phone (texting) and did not seem really interested in her customer's care. My last session was back with Joan. By far, I recommend Joan. She is detailed and listens to your concerns. I only wish all of my sessions would have been with Joan. I recommend Joan! read more

Angelica does an amazing job with the laser. She has excellent customer service skills, attentive, positive attitude towards her clients, courteous, knowledgeable, etc... She makes sure the customer feels happy. I prefer to wait months to schedule an appointment with Angelica than have my laser done with anyone else. She does an outstanding job that I referred my sister and mom to Angelica. They both feel the same way as I do. I have VERY thick hair and cannot believe my results. I did 8 sessions on my bikini and my hair has thinned our so much. I ordered another package for touch up here and there. Yes somethings I get a few hairs but In one second I quickly shave and I'm good to go. If you have thick hair and get ingrowns and bumps, come here you won't regret it. Plus did my under arms. I would have given this an k review till yesterday My fourth treatment, I had been happy with the previous treatments and I even recommended my friends since it was so cheap and it just seemed great! the laser barely even hurt! I loved it! Then yesterday I was expecting the same procedure, nope new room new machine (HORRIBLY PAINFUL) I asked the tech what happened?! where is the other machine? supposedly it broke and they got this new one to replace it Im guessing they bought a cheaper machine because my under arms had never looked that bad! I couldnt even put my arms down and she had to bring the settings down ALOT ( Ive had treatments done at miami beach and they were very professional but I stopped going since it was too far but wow what a difference) I hated it! Just an update. Consistently friendly and clean service. They've gotten more popular so sometimes the wait is about 15-20 minutes. The lasers definitely get stronger with every session. I've been here three times now. Three times for underarms and once for full legs and bikini. I used a Groupon and they offered me the Living Social price for the full legs/bikini. I previously wrote that this Spa was unbelievably organized and professional. I continue to stand by that review. They email you a reminder and call you. Essence Day Spa is the best around. The office is very clean and comfortable. You will never feel that you are getting less than the best at this office. I have had all laser technicians before, but Claudia is my favorite. She makes it very relaxed for what it is and even gave me pointers to help reduce the pain as it has increased with each laser treatment. I HAVE recommended this office to all of my friends and I look forward to returning once I am finished with my current sessions to get other areas done. read more

Seriously terrible experience! I made an appointment for Thursday and I arrived 5 mins early . When I got there I was scolded for not coming 20 mins early since I am a "new client". The receptionist gave me the wrong form to fill out for laser hair removal Instead of facial but already felt nervous because I though since I didn't come 20 mins early I wasn't going to get me full time. The facial was the worst experience I have ever had! Clean room sure and the bed warmer was relaxing. But the extractions were terrible . I felt like she wanted to make my head go through the table how hard she was pressing on me. She said " you have low pain tolerance ". Then I had to remind her this was not a regular facial I had purchased a microdermabrasion package. She said are you sure ? I said yes I purchased a gift certificate for me and my sister one was regular the other microdermabrasion. Seriously I feel like I have been robed of $75 . Can't believe ANYONE would pay $99 regular price ! ( they had an Easter special and I purchased two gift certificates)The neck massage was mediocre . No hand massage while I had the vitamin c mask. But she had the nerve to try to sell me a package for $200 something for three more sessions! Never again . read more

I do not recommend this facility for laser hair removal. I got a groupon for 6 laser hair removal visits. After the groupon ended I paid for 3 additional visits to continue the treatment. So after $900 and 9 visits it had absolutely no results. After the 6 visit since there was not much progress on the hair reduction I did some research on the laser treatment and machine. It turns out they started me on the lowest level of the laser settings. Not because it was the necessary setting, but because they try to slow the hair reduction, so they can have you pay for more visits. I complained about the treatment and they just made excuses. They did offer 3 additional visits at what they said was a discounted rate, but even those 3 additional visits had no results. Also, the machine they use is painful, do not believe them if they tell you otherwise. They told me it was virtually pain free, not true the pain level was very high even at the low level settings they were using on me. read more

Here's my review. This place is wonderful, clean, and the staff very friendly. Why the 2 stars??? Well, they recently changed their laser equipment. They were using the Lumenis Lightsheet Duet before (which works on a diode system- it's my understanding that diode systems have a different wavelength at "bypasses" the skin, and is more targeted to the follicle, this resulting in less pain, and less damage to the skin). Lumenis worked great, at least for me and a few other yelpers that have stated the same. As a point of reference, I have fair skin that usually burns, rarely tans, and hair ranging in the med/dark brown to blonde. The Lumenis was also relatively pain-free as far as lasers are concerned. I went in for a treatment session this past Saturday, and lo and behold, they got rid of the Lumenis and instead have two Candella GentleYag. Word of caution, if you are fair skinned, and don't have jet black hair, the GentleYag is the WRONG laser for you. Unfortunately, I found this out after 6 grueling and unsuccessful sessions in another treatment place last year. Long story short, I did not even have my session completed, and now I'm stuck with half treated areas, and on the quest to find another center that offers diode lasers....very hard task. Had I written this review two months ago, they would've received 5 stars. But unfortunately, with the change is equipment, I can no longer use their services. They're being downgraded....they get 1 star for fair pricing, I thought....and 1 star for the staff, who is really very pleasant. read more

Joined this place with a coupon deal. I was doubtful after having dozens of laser sessions before at a "big box" place that did not work very well, but the deal here was so good I decided to try laser hair removal again. I signed up for one small area, and by my second visit had added another small area (still with a GREAT price). I am also doing eyebrow shaping with Damarys after years of butchering my own eyebrows. I am really pleased with my results so far, I've had 4 visits and already need to shave only every 3 days (instead of every day like before). I can't stop looking at how great my eyebrows make my face look too! Damarys is amazing- so gentle with the laser/waxing and really nice. The visits are quick, usually only a short wait, and parking is easy. After such a bad experience with the other laser place years ago I am so happy to have found this place! After going to several laser places for consultations and never going through with it because of the attention, the cost, the pain, etc. I decided to try Essence Day Spa. I began coming here after purchasing a Groupon. I have had the same technician, Taryn, since my first treatment. She is an amazing person and a great laser technician. I'm already nearing the end of my treatment so the pain has progressively gotten more intense and she is so patient and stops whenever I need a break. When I began the laser was almost painless. I have thick black hair so she has had to keep intensifying it. It's gotten much more painful from when I began but not unbearable. The attention here is fantastic and I feel so comfortable. I have only had laser here so I don't know what to say about their other services but I completely recommend the laser hair removal. The only thing I wish is that they offered better pricing, especially since I've almost done my whole body here and I will need more treatments. Maybe do special offers for those people that are repeat customers. read more

If you have an emergency and you call to reschedule your appointment they charge you $25! If you prepaid for 6 sessions and realized they are crooks so you want a reimbursement FORGET IT! Manager never comes to the phone to talk to the customers and if you go to the place to wait for her they just lie to your face saying that she is doing something and she will call you back as soon as she is free. Horrible customer service. Awful staff. They have no appointments available because "they are SO busy" ... but when you are there waiting there is NOBODY else but you waiting ... it's ridiculous. read more

If you are dark skinned this facility does not cater to your skin complexion. I had the most humiliating experience. In today's time with advance technology, the lady told me that their machine could not accommodate my skin color. When I asked if they would eventually get a machine that could accommodate darker skin complexion, she said no. So dark skinned people, do not go to this facility. read more

No woman wants to look like Sasquatch, which is why laser hair removal is such a big deal to me. After years of dealing with PCOS, I had previously done laser treatments which worked quite well. Recently I needed some touch-ups, and had tried another place first because they had newer laser technology. Turns out that's not what's best for me. After careful research, I figured out what lasers would probably work best based on my previous successful treatments. When Essence ran a special on LivingSocial, I bought four packages (which ended up costing the same amount as one treatment with the laser that didn't work, go figure). When I called to make my appointment I identified myself as a daily deal buyer; they were very courteous over the phone, and the same in person - not all merchants are that way with people who bought daily deals from them. They also offer very good package deals, making laser hair removal much more affordable for me. My technician was Damarys and she was very competent (important quality for someone shooting a laser at your skin). They did try to upsell me on some of their products, but given the pricing of the laser removal and my love of all things clear-skin-related, I didn't mind. Knowing that I'm getting the same kind of laser treatment that worked so well for me several years ago, I was perfectly happy to purchase another package for some additional areas. I did the math, and their prices are actually a little cheaper than my original treatment, which wasn't overly expensive to begin with. Laser hair removal isn't for everyone, but if you want it, this is a good place to look into. read more

This is my second time getting a facial there , the first time was a good experience but my last one was just a horror. This technician that did my facial was very rude and pushy so pushy I started feeling uncomfortable. I understand they have to try to sell you some products after the consultation but this was just a bit too much , she started demeaning me and making up things that I didn't have just to sell me those packages and the products . The techniques she used to do my facial were very rough to the point that it hurt and I got tears in my eyes from the pain , felt like I was being butchered from the microdermabrasion facial. This is definitely the last time I'll be going there and that lady that did my facial was just horribly rude, bossy and full of herself... I've recommended this place before to a couple of people that actually went there and got some good deals and treatments but this experience just ended it all , I won't ever step back to this place again. read more

I bought a package for toenail laser treatment. Hard to make appointments, not open weekends so working people are not easily accommodated. Service is provided by a technician, with no medical/podiatry oversight or expertise. I had a previous 3 session treatment for toenail fungus years ago in Tampa and it worked great until I started going to nail salons for pedicures again. After the 3 treatments and intense pain, there was NO improvement at Essence. The technician (though very personable and nice throughout the sessions) tried to blame me! I've learned all about this so I know what to do! I also bought tineacide cream and used it even though they gave me no tips or recommendations for care. The treatments were recommended for weeks between sessions which seemed odd to me, last time it was 3 months between sessions. So it was money down the drain. The technician said she would give me the same deal for another 3 treatments, but when I called the staff said they had been told to no longer take appointments for toenail fungus treatments. She said they were getting a new machine. hmmmm....I guess I wasn't the only one that it didn't work on! But no word on future discounts when the new machine came online...just very RUDE get lost attitude! So all that time traveling there and money down the drain for nothing! This place is RUDE and the office staff are snobby and uncaring. Seems like the practice has only one concern.....MONEY. Go elsewhere if you want to be treated like a human being! read more
