I have visited Kenan's thrice in a month and that should be revealing. I was very surprised at…read morethe authenticity of the food and it is similar to what you would find at the bazaars in Istanbul. Additionally, you cannot beat the $10 -12 price range for a reasonable portion of meat grills, salad, rice, Turkish bread. It exceeds the quality of the high end Turkish restaurants such as Mados and Ahameds in South bank. Kenans is located at Boundary st markets and they only operate during Fri, Sat and Sundays markets. Please be advised there are 3 different Turkish stalls at the market. I have tried the other two this is my recommended place.

Its situated on Burnette lane - so away from the hustle and bustle of the city despite being only a couple minutes walk from Queen st. It's got a massive window (it was open when we were there) which made indoors feel like outdoors - fresh air - yay! :) The staff were friendly. The menu was interesting. Quite a few non-standard breakfast dishes - not very well described on the menu so you had no idea what to expect (could've asked the staff i spos but i wanted to be surprised). And it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! I got the bowl full of a lot of ingredients - sounded healthy yet tasty at the same time. And it was. The kimchi somehow blended right in! The servings aren't particularly large. Enough to fill you up but not massive so that you are absolutely stuffed by the end of it, like so many other brunch places. I also got a tumeric latte. No coffee. Like a chai latte except with tumeric. Tasted ok - quite mild. Nice cosy cafe to hang out at. Very cool place. Would def come back.

We dropped by nearby FFG for bfast on Sat bc it had good reviews. We were not disappointed…read more I ordered the avo toast w/ bacon, while she had the potato & chorizo bfast w/ a poached egg. First of all, the avo toast was very good. The avo was fresh, and the portion was hearty. I was surprised that I was given 6 slices of bacon for the price. My only feedback is that I was expecting the avo to be mashed vs slices. Secondarily, I had a bite of her dish, and it was like a stuffed hash brown. The potatoes were GBD, and the portion was good sized. The only downside was the price. Two entrees, plus two coffees was ~ $75 AUD: Pretty pricey for bfast. Regarding the ambiance, its casual here. You order at the counter. The baristas make your coffee fresh. The staff is super nice & friendly. FFG is cheaper vs the hotel (and most likely better too). Nonetheless, it would be hard to return during a short stay bc of the prices.

If cheese pleases you let me introduce you to The Cheese Pleaser (TCP). Short on time, special…read moreoccasiosn and the stakes are high, or just out to impress; Sharyn and her daughter are who you are going to call for a cheese board to keep the fussiest of tastebuds delighted. Case in point. For a recent event I could have easily constructed cheese and charcuterie myself. But, after following TCP on Instagram and drooling over their cheese-prowess, I threw caution to the wind and outsourced that shizz. And you know what? No regrets. After briefing Sharyn on the number of guests, the style of event and what kind of crowd we'd be entertaining the creation of my cheese boards was left in very capable hands. Sharyn arrived on the night about an hour before showtime (enough time to let the cheese warm to room temp, she said) and set about creating the cheese that would indeed please an audience. The price for the boards includes cheese, charcuterie, bread and crackers. Plus all instruments for eating (cheese knives and boards). For the lack of stress alone it was worth every penny. Plus I don't think I've ever seen two cheese boards devoured with such ferocity. On a side note, if you want to meet and try the delights of TCP but don't have an excuse to feature them at an event, they have a stall at the Powerhouse Jan Power's Markets each week.

It's a workers pub really with a couple of well sized out door areas. The plus was free pool from 2-4 on a Sunday. Our other pleasant surprise was our bowl of chips. Dusted with herbs & chicken salt they were great with the aioli. I do have to say I love that they serve Somersby cider as its one of my favorites. All in all, not bad for a quick drink, but at the end of the day it is just another pub in the vein of leagues clubs et al.

It was then that we decided on Everton Park Hotel and I have to say, it was a good call! We enjoyed an a la carte menu with everything you could want from a bistro. Steak, seafood, pasta, it was all great and just what I felt like after a round of semi-competative sport. After dinner we moved on to CC's bar, which is located near the entrance of the hotel. Stylish, chic and comfortable, the cocktail lounge was perfect for a couple of drinks after our meal. Good food, great drinks and fantastic company. All in all, an awesome night.
