Blink and you'll miss it. That's basically what happens when you try to look for Esquinita along Estrella Street. I have not frequented this area in about a year so it was surprising that other than Cake Avenue, there's a new place to eat in the area! My student told me that this is where they usually hang out now after school. Now I understand why!
Esquinita's food is simple: you combine your favourite Filipino food with your favourite Mexican food and voila! You got yourself a treat for your tummy! You can choose among four variations which are: rice meal, toasted tacos, burritos, and sisig with four main dishes: Crispy Sisig, Chicken Adobo, Beef Steak, and Fish Fillet. I was craving for a burrito that day so I tried out their Beef Steak Burrito (P155). Who knew that could work? I was absolutely thrilled about every bite! I had to even take the other half of it home because the servings were big. The orders don't take too long to arrive either!
They also have other specials such as Embutido Lasagna (P125), Sisig Fritters (P85), Nachos (P125) and, Tocito (Tocino Burrito, P140).
During lunch hours, they add more tables and chairs for everyone. You're all seated under a tree and enjoy the best of both worlds with urban noise mixed with an al fresco dining experience. It does get a bit noisy from time-to-time. It's a few metres away from EDSA. I didn't mind the noise because it's something that I got used to. It's across Colegio De Sta Rosa, my former high school, and Palm Village. Next time I come back, I'm trying the Chicken Adobo Tacos (oooh, CAT!) and Crispy Sisig Burrito! I'm excited what they'd do to my taste buds! read more
