Riding in Esperanza was amazing! We faced some heavy rain on the day we initially booked for, but they were great about contacting us to reschedule. The views were gorgeous, and it was much easier to get to the Black Sand Beach on horseback than on foot. The guides were great and quick to help us with anything we needed. I have years of riding experience under my belt, and my partner did not, but we were paired with great horses and this was an awesome way for us to ride together.

    Some views look like Ireland!

Dante led our small group and he was so informative and helpful, with me, an experienced rider, and another who was a first-time rider in our group. The horses are well cared for and matched well with the riders. The horses have wonderful pasture land, unlike so many rental horses. Great beach ride and lots of other varied scenery. Highly recommended.

We have taken horse back riding tours in Puerto Rico many times before.. in Carolina, Isabella, but never in Vieques. However, this was my favorite tour! The views are absolutely unmatched in other locations. This tour gives you access to the beaches, the cliffs, and forrest areas. The guides were absolutely such gems, very kind, very knowledgeable about the area as well as the horses. I felt so comfortable on my horse the entire ride, they truly matched us all with great horses. I would recommend this to anyone in Vieques, and tell those who haven't been to Vieques to make the trip specifically for this tour!!

    Gorgeous beaches!

Absolutely first rate! We (one very experienced rider, one slightly experienced, and one absolute novice) had the most amazing ride with Elizabeth. The horses were well trained and also very well taken care of, and were a pleasure to ride. Elizabeth led a great tour- really informative and we also got to see parts of the island that we wouldn't have been able to access. Riding in the surf and on the black sand beach was a so much fun! We'll be back the next time we come to Vieques- and we're definitely coming back!

Everything was amazing, people and views. Friendly horses We caught some rain but didn't stop the tour. The tour people are very patient and very caring.

Their boss sent a text asking me to delete the negative review, the number matches their website

Please be careful with this company, it's our nightmare in Vieques. They don't respect their customers and threaten us to delete bad reviews. When we arrived at the farm at 3:50 PM, we found that the check-in for the 4:00 tour had ended. However, they didn't allow us to ride the horses and didn't give us our money back. (This is about their policy ) and told us " when she said no, it's mean no, go back to your FK country." When I arguing with them, my camera dropped on the ground and they immediately took it away. Then they asked us to leave the private property (their farm) immediately. When we leave their boss text me: she took a selfie with my camera. She asked me and my bf to delete the negative reviews about them on google immediately. And she wanted me to go back to Black Sands (an undeveloped beach strewn with rocks) at night to get my camera. It's ridiculous that no one will be able to find anything on a beach without any lights. When we asked if we could go to the farm the next day to get my camera back, she mentioned that there was another negative review online. Obviously, the boss doesn't want any negative reviews online, we don't understand how she can be rude to customers. If you have any bad experiences and want to complain please be careful they are watching you. This is our nightmare in Vieques.

Beautiful!! I went with my bf to try out horseback riding for my birthday and it was such a pleasure! Esperanza riding company is the best one to choose and Dante (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was a superb instructor. He always asked if we were okay and gave us simple instructions for how to handle our horses. I rode on Freddy(horse in photo) and my bf rode on Dude (white with brown speckles). I would highly recommend them and we will be bringing our families to ERC again. Thanks again for making our 1st Vieques trip memorable!

I've been visiting the island of Vieques for over 20yrs. Have taken group rides with Elizabeth and the great staff of ERC 6 times. This year I decided to take a private ride with my boyfriend, and it was worth it! I will only book with ERC when planning horseback rides; her horses are well trained, and her briefing/instructions have always been clear and concise for how to ride the horses safely. The tour-guides are informative and I always learn new facts of VQS every ride I take. We love ERC and Elizabeth has a really great company here in VQS. You absolutely get what you pay for! Do yourself a favor and book a ride (group or private) with Elizabeth at ERC, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for another great ride!

Beautiful and magical experience! Vieques is beautiful and we really got to see a lot of the beaches, hills, forests and roads. The horses were amazing and well mannered. I had Rico and he was a funny guy. The guide Dante was knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure to check in with us a lot to make sure we were comfortable. An experience we won't soon forget! Thanks guys!

We loved it!!! Dante was our guide, and he truly couldn't have been any better! He was helpful, knowledgeable, funny and made sure we all enjoyed ourselves! We had all different levels of riders and he managed that easily! We went through the woods, on several beaches, up and down hills and through their stunning pasture. It exceeded our groups expectations!! We all highly recommend this tour and guide!!

    The Three Amigas!

Riding with owner of Esperanza Riding School Elizabeth and her skilled right hand guide Lara was definitely a top highlight of our trip to Viequas . I had my niece and her 8 year old daughter who was just learning with me; so I was especially appreciative of Lara , who in the front position leading our group ,took my grandniece under her wing holding the rope of her horse just behind her instilling safety, giving her not only a personal riding lesson but a front row seat to all the informed and entertaining insights she had to share about the magnificent and interesting area every step of the way. So Much Fun! Thank you for such a great experience with memories to cherish for a lifetime! --- Tracy C.

It was a little confusing at first, driving up to see the closed gate, but we quickly discovered we could easily open it to pull in, keeping the horses in their proper places (out as well as in!) The staff is young and energetic and matched each of 4 people, including a 9 year old, in my family with exactly the right horse to enjoy the experience. The ride to and through El Playa de Coca and El Playa de Negra was exciting (even a little scary at times, with steep inclines and declines that the horses handled with ease!) and simply the most beautiful and fun experience. The young guides payed close attention to the horses and also watched my little one to ensure he was comfortable and safe. They stopped at a point on one of the beaches to line up the family for a well-taken photograph. This was my 20 year old's favorite experience of our week long vacation in Puerto Rico. We all loved it so much and would do it again without hesitation.

This is also the 1st time we got to ride horses onto the beach and into the ocean! I brought carrots for my horse and he loved it. I rode a horse name Warrior and my husband rode a horse named Flip Flops. Both were great horses! Our guides were Mary and Tarin and they were awesome! Our trip started on the beach and then went into the rain forest. We saw two colorful iguanas but other than that, we didn't see much else. Lots of mango and tamarind trees and a couple of old termite mounds. I just enjoyed the horseback ride. The weather was nice and comfortable with a few sprinkles. After our ride through the rainforest, we headed back to the beach so the horses could take a dip in the water. Rainbow beach is beautiful! The water was warm and clear and we got some great pictures of ourselves. Mary and Tarin were so accommodating in taking pictures of all of us. I highly recommend Cruzan Cowgirls Horseback!

Our small group consisted of one experienced rider, one rider with some experience, and two novice riders. The girls who led the ride were both amazing and were eager to talk about the history of the island and our horses, which were all rescues, save one. They shared stories of how the horses got their names, as well as how they'd survived on the island with no power for almost a year after a hurricane destroyed the island's infrastructure. Our ride took us through the old sugar plantations and onto the beach before taking us into the water. Before entering the water, we were warned about the behaviors to watch for in our horses that would indicate the horse was about to lay down in the water, as they like to do sometimes and what to do if the horse did lay down. My horse, Alien, apparently loves the water so much that he moans the entire time, and he loves swimming! This was not your typical cruise ship excursion where you walk your horse in the shallow water. We were in about 5' of water, and it was AWESOME!!! I felt like I could have stayed and ridden horses on the beach and in the water all day, and yes, Alien made his "ohhhh this feels so good" noises the entire time we were in the water. My shorts were completely soaked, but I expected that and I wasn't bothered by it! The warm sun meant they dried quickly. I rode barefoot because I was wearing flip flops, and I didn't want to risk losing them on the ride. It was my choice, but I recommend if you're not comfortable with riding barefoot, wear something like water shoes, old sneakers, or Crocs. I've added a picture of me on Alien just before we went out into the water.
