Yelp does not have a way to give less than 1 star, but that's what Esuxxx deserves. Dont play the jukebox. Or they will scorn you.

The OP might be my new favorite dive in Burlington. The beer is cheap, but the selection is great…read more They even have the cheapest cans of Focal Banger I've found yet. This is a pretty typical grungy-in-a-good-way Burlington bar. Its full of college kids and there's a pool table. If I remember correctly there's a tin ceiling which I guess makes the OP one of the more architecturally interesting college/dives in town. Since its on the fringe of downtown, the OP doesn't seem to get as rowdy as the bars on Church or Main.

In one instance where my close friend was non consensually given a substance outside of the bar…read moresetting (likely roofies), the bouncer made sure to keep the person suspected of giving it to her out of the bar. The simple act of keeping a creep out of a bar is more than 90% of bars in America, but I am thankful the staff and in particular the bouncer cares about peoples safety. They are tolerant, but when someone's behavior is egregious and obviously dangerous or disruptive they intervene quickly and respectfully. The OP's regulars are some of the most charming and compassionate people you will find in Burlington. The bar is often full of artists, musicians, and people you will get along with if you're the creative type. The drinks are cheap, the staff is caring and most importantly this bar cares about people first. If you want to go somewhere where being a predator is chill, go somewhere else. If you want a tight knit community full of life and love go to the Other Place!

Just moved back to town after being gone for 15 years, needed a night out. But wanted more of a…read moredive bar experience vs what most of St.J has to offer. Had a great time at the Whiskey Den last night! I had been cautious to go in as the previous business in this location was sketchy. I was so pleasantly surprised! Kyle the bartender was friendly and patient (something that can be challenging for bartenders). Music was your typical small town Vermont bar, but mixed it up here and there. Don't get me wrong you will run into classic St. J characters.... But it is a big space so you can find your own corner. Got to speak with the owner Joanna and she was lovely! She is creating a space for everyone, and very strict on keeping out the riff Raff and is careful not to over serve to avoid problems and keep customers feeling safe. .....if you need a break past 9pm in St.J, I would give it a try!

I had vodka/club soda and the drink was fine. When I got there it was just me and another guy, one of the most charactery of characters, and some club type music and strobe lights playing for an empty room.... eventually some more people showed up but I think maybe toning down the "trying to be a club" vibe on a quiet Thursday night would be helpful... it just felt kind of silly.

That being said, there's a nice side room for groups on the first floor, a stage for shows or random jamming (also open mic nights) the pool table is $1 a game and functional but there's only one cue. There's also an enclosed back terrace. I've only ever stopped in on two occasions so I could say I went to my friends show. Until yesterday I didn't even know there was a second floor. The owner was awesome and let my friends use the stage and instruments to jam at the end of the night. We chilled, played pool, were allowed to connect our own music into the speakers upstairs and it was actually really fun. I wouldn't go when it's full but people, but for some friends catching up and playing pool it was spot effing on.

Glory holes and peeping holes in the bathroom, stairs that have alarming cracks, balcony in shambles, etc. Prices are decent though and staff is okay. Last time I went there and I tried playing pool, one of the ceiling lamps fell on the pool table and interrupted my game. Also saw a girl fall down the stairs and after puking on them. Cheap beer though.
