My group and I stopped in here for a dinner after finding that pretty much every restaurant within the city center was entirely booked on a Saturday night. Which goes to show, Inverness is pretty happening on the weekends. Sorry for underestimating you. But long story short, that is how we found ourselves at a Mexican restaurant in the middle of the Highlands of Scotland, which is definitely not what we were hoping for.
I always feel bad giving a less than positive review, so I'll start with the positives first:
1. Very large space - which means they will likely be able to accomodate a large group. It wraps around the block - it is deceptively large.
2. Restaurant looks recently renovated.
3. There is a DJ playing decent music on weekends.
4. The beers we ordered were nice and cold.
5. None of us got food poisoning, and while I did not particularly love my tofu tacos, it served its purpose.
The negatives:
1. The chicken and onion quesadillas that one person in my party ordered did not contain cheese. Cheeseless quesadillas. Definitely not remotely Mexican.
2. The guacamole side we ordered came with maybe just 8 nacho cheese flavored doritos. Definitely not an adequate amount for the amount of guac in the bowl. Also, nacho cheese Doritos really have no place in Mexican restaurants.
3. The restrooms in the basement are grimy. The renovation did not extend to this portion.
4.The food in general is not mexican. Having visited Mexico a number of times, It is not even a reasonable facsimile. Also, there is no salsa, no pico de gallo, only Frank's red hot sauce available to spice up your dish. read more
