If I could give half ratings I would rate 2.5 probably. I went twice to give it a fair rating. I'm a seasoned escape room player and have done close to 30 at more than 20 locations. Pros: * genie room felt immersive * close to home Cons: * walk in and blasted with smell of weed in the entry area * Potential spoiler: first visit did genie room and was told "small decor just that", "you won't need to look under furniture and stuff like that" , "don't move stuff from wall"- small decor had clues inside you had to count, had to move curtains, clue under rug, lots of same types of locks. Clues were poorly worded * potential spoiler: candy room - you can solve it without completing all clues. One clue was either not in right place or they had a circular clue. Room was underwhelming with decor. Felt like bunch of random posters on wall and a few barrels and not much else. We solved by bypassing a clue somehow using magnets in wrong spot so skipped like 3 puzzles and thought when we won they had given us a clue we didn't ask for but it was something we triggered just wasn't clear we triggered it ;several of those in both rooms) Maybe if I got a good deal and looking for someplace local but wouldn't pay full price again. We played the Atlantis room. Difficulty level I would say novice to intermediate. We were able to escape with our family of 5. The room was a bit small so if you are going to be paired with strangers, be prepared to be very close. We had fun and plan to try another room next time! read more

So Awesome! My family had the best time at Escape Room Woodbridge! We were greeted and given instructions to sign the waiver and watch the rules video as soon as we arrived. Our Game Guide Jordyn was really nice and easygoing. It was so fun trying to solve the puzzle. Even my youngest child felt like he was involved. We did the Mansion Murder Mystery game and it was pretty difficult, so we had to use some of our clues. Overall, this was a great experience and we would definitely do this again. read more

As others have mentioned I am writing this as a seasoned escape room person. Me and a friend have been to many across the DMV area and this by far was the most disappointing. At first from the outside I was a little skeptical, its in a medium sized shopping center, kinda reminded me of the Herndon escape room location so with that in mind I kept my hopes up. Wrong. We walked in and immediately was underwhelmed. We were greeted by a staff member that said they were ready to go. We had chosen the candy theme room to do. Let me tell you once we walked in that room, it was hard to have your heart not sink to the floor in a feeling of *dang, I just spent $60 on this?* I think I could have created this in the basement of my own house. There was no real story to it, just wall decorations you would find in your second graders classroom. Things that you can tell have been not cleaned at all in the lifespan that it has been there. Basically a room of locks. Locks on a table, barrels and a super underwhelming last puzzle that's basically ...oh that's the end congratulations. I can't even recommend this to kids as some of the puzzles you need to unlock locks don't even connect to each other. Ending thoughts: If you have been to ANY escape room ever in DC, or NOVA. DONT go here. You will have driven far out of the way for a sad experience. This company is purely after a profit and not after the excitement people get from escape room games. read more

We love doing escape rooms and decided to give this one a try since it's so close to us. We booked the High Roller's Lounge on a Friday Night for three people. We were greeted shortly after we walked in the door, filled our our waivers and were given the usual run down. The employee was super friendly and got through everything quickly. Obviously I can't give away much about the room but there were a few small issues. A couple of things that were part of the room were a little broken and one of the clues was placed incorrectly so we had to stop the game to fix that. Luckily our game master was cool and helped us out a lot. We even got out! Overall it was pretty fun despite the few mishaps but I would definitely come back to try the other room! read more

This place is disgusting. I cannot believe the 4-star review. I am an avid escape room goer (like hundredsss), and without question, this is the worst establishment / room I have ever played. First off, the entrance stunk of weed. I would normally have no issue with this, but the only visible staff member / our game master was stumbling over wording and really skiddish. It was super strange. Next, after a really outlandish storyline that may as well have been fabricated by a bunch of teenaged stoners, we were led down a long hallway into a beat-up, pathetic room called the High Rollers Lounge. (Come to think of it -- perhaps the room was also named by a bunch of teenaged stoners?) The room smelled like a locker room. It was dark and unwelcoming for an uppity casino lounge theme. The props were overly grungy and germy. I cannot believe this room survived during the pandemic, as it really needs to be gutted and given a complete makeover. The puzzles were so stupid and aggravating - it was as if this place just needed to have one more room to attract customers and decided to half-ass it. The game master must have been the only person working or didn't care much for their job, because getting a clue was like pulling teeth. The biggest complaint - yes, even apart from my $82 that I regrettably flushed down the toilet that is "Escape Room Woodbridge" - is that we were actually LOCKED in the room. The entrance / exit door to the room itself was unlocked, but there is a 2nd end goal to this room (for no reason whatsoever), which is to unlock a magnetized door that physically cannot be opened if a real-life escape was needed. At one point, we wanted to just walk out and leave, but we realized we were TRAPPED unless we wanted to leap over a 4+ foot wall. If you are an older person, in a wheelchair, a child, etc., etc., etc., this is mind-blowing. After the escape room fire in Poland that left 5 children dead, this became a BIG NO-NO. Almost every escape room I've done makes certain to point out that "YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY LOCKED IN AND CAN LEAVE AT ANY TIME". Escape Room Woodbridge failed to do so, and even worse, when we were fed up with the room, it took over 1 minute to get the game master's attention for the next clue to be done with this disaster. Such a horrendous place. Bite the bullet and take the extra 30+ minute drive to Alexandria / Fairfax, which have credible, solid rooms where money won't be completely wasted. read more

This was such a fun place to be on a Saturday night! My teen daughter and her friends did The Haunt escape room and had such a great time. The clues were great with just enough red herrings to make the room fun and challenging. But, the biggest reason the night was so fun was due in large part to the employees. They were such nice guys and were fantastic about explaining everything! Highly recommend. read more

This was a disappointing experience for us. The staff is very friendly, but they can't overcome a bad gaming experience. There weren't enough puzzles to solve, what was there wasn't challenging, and a couple of elements were slightly broken. The entire room felt hard worn compared to the other experiences we've had. We solved the High Rollers Lounge in a little over 30 minutes -- and we are not quite rock stars -- which felt like a poor ROI for the price. read more

The room Descend was probably one of the worst escape rooms I've ever done. The actor in the room was annoying and babbled most of the time. There was no clear progression at all and had far too many "red herrings". The company did call for feedback and offered a credit. My family will probably give them another try. Hopefully this was just a one-off and the other rooms are better. read more

I really enjoyed my visit here. I came with some co-workers and it ended up being a great team building event. Their clues were very creative and I was really surprised to see how their elements worked. In terms of team building, we really got an opportunity to understand where we were strong and where we needed to work closer together. At one moment in the game we played (The Handbook), there was a clue out in the open that NONE of us saw and there were 7 people in that room. It was sitting there the entire time. The only pointer I can give is to really look around and if you're lost in any way, scan the room as much as possible. We could've saved a good 5 minutes from our time if we had done that. read more

We took a couple of friends here for my husband's birthday. I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the detail that went into the room. I was also shocked that there was live actor in the room with us the whole time! The only thing I didn't like is there seemed to be a lot of "red herrings" or false clues. I prefer my puzzles to be a little more straight ahead, even if they are more difficult. I'd definitely recommend these rooms to anyone in the area! read more

I came here with 4 friends and first played their "Speakeasy" game. Because it was a weekday and not very busy, we decided to then play "The handbook". Our plan is to come back to play their other game around the holidays. We were really happy with their attention to detail. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into building their sets and props. Overally, I think Speakeasy was much harder than the Handbook, so we probably should've played that game first. 2.5 stars because I'm averaging my two experiences at this location, one really good and one not good. I LOVED the Speakeasy room. It's the perfect challenge, barely got out in time, suspenseful, and tons of fun. I loved it so much I brought my bridesmaids for our bachelorette evening. I was excited to go back for a second time with friends and chose "Descend". We were really disappointed with that room. I've done escape rooms at 6 different locations and never seen a game master in the room, but this game has a game master inside. She was very nice, but voiced observations and suggestions continually when I really wanted to work with my friends to solve it without the continual unsolicited clues and prompts. Also, there were a ton of decoy items. These are a part of many escape rooms, but it leaves the impression you have a long way to go in the room when you really don't. We ended up finishing with pleny of time and wished we had struggled along a little more, with fewer decoys. Overall, not the experience we were hoping to repeat after our Speakeasy experience, especially since it isn't cheap. If I return to this location, I will call first to make sure the room is video monitored instead of having a game master inside. I wouldn't recommend the Descend room, but the Speakeasy room is great. read more
